I've just acquired one of these great radios and struggled with the sub. All has become clear now. Thanks a lot Rick. Over a decade on and your videos are still helping guys like me out. Thanks again and 73.

    Hi Rick,
After years of operating boat anchor stations on 6 and 2 meters I'm finally ready for low bands plus my usuals and invest in a new fangled rig, watching your videos on the TS2000 really told me a lot but the sub radio video and you showing the capabilities sold me on this unit, I hope to have one next Month, many thanks Rick for your much appreciated instructions on this fine rig, 73, Kim WA7BTG, Belfair, Wa

Mike, personally been real happy with it. It has a long history of reliable service. We have 20+ hospitals in the area that will be using if for digital emcom. That's what these videos are for... basic training. I'm sure if you do some web searching, you'll get lots of opinions. But, for me... I'ld buy it again in a heartbeat! 73, Rick :)

Great tutorial. I'm thinking about buying one of these used since they discontinued the model and it's a tidy all band package on the desk top.

Thanks very much for this. All the time I've had this radio I have never turned the "sub" off. I didn't know that I could!
So suddenly it is gone and I'm wondering what went wrong. Then I found your tutorial :-)

Thanks Scott. Never used the 7000 and have not done any repeater programming. Am planning to do a few videos on Winlink (packet & pactor) so you can look forward to that. 73, Rick

Rick, Thank you very much for, what I think is,the most " BRILLIANT" instructional videos I have seen on the net. I felt "Over Awed" reading the manual. I agree with Robson below, if possible PLEASE POST some more!!!!!! I bought a second hand TS-2000 and am very happy with its porformance. Thanks Again. 73's ...ZS6BA

From what I have seen and read the sub channel may only be used in FM mode and not in SSB is that correct? I would love to monitor 2 meter or 432 SSB while on another band on the main VFO or memory channel.

Mikey G I own a TS-2000 but I use it only for VHF/UHF.I think it is not a very good HF/6 meter Transceiver but if it is all you have it will work. It lacks in filtering compared to my ICOM 7600 or ICOM 746.The TS-2000 is only a 16 bit DSP & the 7600 & 746 are 32 bit and it really makes a big difference on the receivers.

Okay you said you can only use VHF/UHF Frequencies on the Sud VFO so does that include 6 meters since it is a VHF Band or should you have said 2 meters and 440 MHz? I am considering buying a TS-2000 as my 2 meter and 440 and backup HF Radio but I have not seen that mentioned? Thanks and 73.

What happens when you receive a signal simultaneously on the main and sub?

I got my ts-2000x on closeout about a year ago. The problem with it, out of the box, is that with an see if 1.2:1 it starts folding back power. At 1.5, it's about 1/2 power. I can't find the problem and a friend with one does not have this problem with his radio. I called Kenwood when it was new and they told me " all we will do is put it on a dummy load, if it has full power we're going to send it back to you" Does anyone have any ideas? I haven't really used it because of this issue

Why, why, why are transceivers so complicated today? Designer’s are absolutely gone mad. I have a Fairhaven RD 500 and AOR 8600 receiver and I’ve actually never really used them. Why? Too complicated to use for me. I could never figure them out. I’m doing the radio exam soon and I’m at my wits end trying to figure out what transceiver to get? Any ideas please?

looking at purchasing the TS 2000. narrowed it down to it or the Icom 7000. any opinions either way? curious.

    • @1OFGODSOWN
      @1OFGODSOWN 5 років тому

N5XTC the ICOM 7000 has far better filtering and a much better receiver but it can’t do dual receive nor can it do cross band operation.I have owned both radios and they each have their pluses and minuses.

Well after owning this radio for 10 months I have discovered it is a huge piece of shit and I would not recommend it to anyone and I can’t wait till I find some fool who wants to buy mine. It can’t hear what 99% of other radios can hear and it is a nightmare to use because of all the menus required and programming is pathetic. I replaced my Kenwood TS-2000 within ICOM 821H and will never own another Kenwood HF radio even if they are free. The ICOM 821H is so easy to program and use where the Kenwood requires if you want to program satellite memories that you better get out the programming cable.

I now have an ICOM 9100 with D-STAR and both optional Roofing Filters and it blows away the POS Kenwood TS-2000 with Ease. It’s a BEAST of a radio and the TS-2000 is a Mouse.
