Kuwait University showcase - The creation of an architectural icon

When you think of administrative work, you think of something monotonous and bland. But that doesn’t mean administrative facilities should reflect that. In fact, with the Administration Facilities at Sabah Al Salem University City, the award-winning design seeks to deliver on functional needs with an inspirational, vibrant aesthetic.
Pace, in collaboration with long-term partners SOM, is currently overseeing project construction. Poised to be the campus’ architectural icon, the project includes the administration tower, grand library and convocation hall, along with conference, cultural and visitor centres.
Featuring a unified architectural language and a ‘Shades of Knowledge’ concept, the design uses modern-design, ornate Mashrabiyas to encase each building. With calligraphy cut-outs crafted in repetitive patterns on these shading veils, the unique designs combine cultural, visual, and technical aspects, whilst drawing inspiration from local vernacular architecture.
