She wrote this song when she was struggling to make her second album. She realized that she was taking her frustration out on the people around her and eventually she realized that the only way for her to stay sane through the process of making art she had to be nasty some times. So she called it her guilty pleasure, because she was doing something she loved (making music) but it was hurting the people she loved. I really like your thoughts on the dance break. I haven’t heard anyone express theories on the meaning of it, and your interpretation actually goes really well with her concept so I think you nailed it. There was also some pretty cool contrasts between this MV and Maria. In this MV she starts off wearing the same dress she wore at the end of Maria, when the girls come and surprise her. But she is essentially birthed from the box of water. Maria used a lot of catholic symbolism of crucifixion and rebirth. So this MV is basically a continuation of Maria, but in a universe where she actually succumbed to the hate and killed herself. So she is reborn as this different version of herself who is not so kind and forgiving. There’s a large focus on duality here, both in the lyrics and the video. In scenes where there’s a mirror, the mirror is broken or the reflection looked different; like the scene in the bathroom where the writing on the walls become legible by looking at them in the mirror. Even in the infinity mirror scenes- it’s actually just video editing to make it seem like it goes on forever, but if you look its a repeat of two versions of her. You can see her both looking at and looking away from the mirror, even though in reality only one angle of her should be seen by the mirror. It’s pretty trippy once you notice it.
I know y'all want to watch some of Solar's solo work next. But when you get to it, big recommendation. Listen to: 1. Wheee by Wheein (pop rock style solo track she put out very recently) 2. "Whee in Recording Log 6" - vlog on wheein's channel about the recording session for that song. It's great to see the behind the scenes, and the few vlogs about recording/rehearsal/practice from Mamamoo is always great. That video has english subtitles.
You made it; well done! Get well soon to your other half. If you haven't been nudged 1000 times already, you should look at the Mamamoo+ songs (Moonbyul/Solar side project).
Since Kerry isn't around as Quality Control Officer I guess you're leaving it up to us. Unlike Chinese characters, the Korean written language uses an alphabet just like English, only it's much more logical and easier to learn (hint). So 빛 isn't a complicated way to write B, it's a three letter word composed of B, I, and Ch and the word means light, which is of course a pun on the English word for a female dog. Someone else commented that it was used in the song title as a compromise to avoid censorship. RBW's CEO had to talk her into it. Sorry, but you're wrong about Hwasa being The Queen. Hwasa is indeed known as Queen Hwasa and she may be The Queen in your mind but that's a personal honorific. Just like Aretha is, was, and always will be the Queen of Soul, BoA has long been the Queen of Kpop and that's not a random name or my personal opinion about who's The Best, it's just a fact. Which doesn't diminish Hwasa's regal status in any way and naturally you're free to worship her as your Queen. I doubt Camilla will mind too much. As I'm sure you're aware, there are many queens in the world and some of them are even bitchy. 😏 Hwasa & BoA are friends, btw, and were members of Lee Hyori's Dancing Queens on the Road tour last year. Love your interpretation of the traditional dance & music segment. Like Twit I think I'm a B is a very catchy, upbeat pop song and I was shocked that it wasn't a hit like Twit, tho I shouldn't be since I'm always wrong about stuff like that. Watch the I'm a B performance video when you get a chance - she kills the choreo. I thought it was even better than Maria, which won her a MAMA solo dance performance award. Speaking of Maria, I don't think you noticed that the dress she wears when she's birthed from the box (a pun only Mamamoo would make 🙄) is the same dress she wore in the last scene of the Maria MV. It seems like I'm a B is from an alternate life where Maria commits suicide and is reborn as a savage. If you want a suggestion for next Mamamoo Monday, I'd recommend Chico Malo by Mamamoo+. As I'm sure you know, that's the subunit consisting of Solar & Moonbyul and I don't recall that you've reacted to them yet. I'm suggesting it because imo Chico Malo is the best blend of traditional and contemporary in a kpop song & MV and since you liked the traditional section of I'm a B so much I think you'll enjoy Chico Malo.

The change up in the mv has to be one of my favourites.

👍
the romanization of the title is "I'm a bich", bich=shine/shining. its a work around coz Hwasa wanted the b-word but ofc can't coz korea.
In last scene seven snakes like Seven Sins.
