Kids go to the club, and watch videos of people dancing. Social media peer pressure has made them unable to simply dance to the level of their own abilities, because Ejoe Wilson makes them feel inadequate. I went to a "bangin" spot in NYC, about 10 years ago. Generation X types started smirking, seeing my gray beard, but they're sitting down, checking in on Instagram, because proving to a bunch of people they've never met in person that they're there, is more important than enjoying themselves while they're actually there. Legendary FRANCOIS K is spinning, and he's cookin'! These lames are still sitting down. Now, I'm dancing, and the Gen X Sitdown Club isn't smirking at me anymore. "Hey, Caleb, (they're all named Caleb and Josh, like their parents watched too many old Westerns) I didn't know Boomers could move like that! Do you think they can be hip, like us? I'll start a poll on Snapchat..." LAMES! So, the night goes on, and I need to use the men's room. There's a quarter inch of piss soaking the floor, in this "fabulous" club! 🤢 I'm wearing soft-soled wrestling shoes (stealth Capezios), and I have to go to the check room and change into my running shoes, just to take a leak. They have the nerve to have a men's room "attendant", waiting for tips! 🤡 Why don't you mop the floor, Playboy? Never went back to that dump.
Those were the days!! We all partied and danced and had fun together....there was unity and respect. No one cared if you were black or white or gay or straight or who you voted for, we were just there to have fun. I really miss those days. ❤️
I have to tell you. I was extremely blessed. From outside of Philly. Went to Howard University in 1990. Throughout my undergrad years, every single weekend I went to Baltimore, NY, Jersey, or back home to Philly. I was the quintessential house head. All I did was house every weekend. Got my undergrad in 1993. Enrolled in law school at UPenn in 1993 back home in Philly. Now I had a little change in my pocket. Went to visit this girl I was dating on and off from Chicago. So, along with those surrounding areas, I can honestly say I feel I had THE BEST house experience in its most purest form in all of those cities!!! It wasn’t until I passed the bar and became a lawyer all those weekends stopped! Damn shame!!! Good goodness, they don’t dance like this anymore!!!
I got my undergrad in 1992 and lived in Chicago after that for a few years, enjoyed the club scene a lot. Baja Beach Club, China Club, Kaboom, Excalibur... those were some of the main haunts. I remember this song vividly at Excalibur or Baja, they played all the time. Yep, I miss those days immensely!
Omg yes! Growing up in Baltimore this song stayed in rotation. This is sweat out your hair, feet will hurt in the morning, wet shirt from jamming music!! ❤❤😂😂
M.A.R.S, BLACK BOX,ZANZIBAR, BROKERS, AND OTHER NOTABLE NIGHT SPOTS TOO NUMEROUS TO MENTION DURING THE ERA OF THIS SONG. REAL DANCERS COMMANDED A CIRCLED CROWDED AROUND THEM AS SONGS LIKE THIS PLAYED. #YOUHADTOHAVEBEENTHERE #OLDNYCNIGHTCLUBLIFE
