I keep watching this one, you make foiling look way to easy.

So cool! I noticed on full scale multis that they have their sails contact the hull, sealed against it by pressure and sail design..I think this concentrates thrust as low as possible..I'm gonna try this on my lunchbox MkII prototype...I'm nowhere near foiling yet, you have given me great inspo tho!

Performance typically goes up with increased wing loading (efficiency turning radius, etc.) but the trick is getting the vehicle to take off. Therefore I’m not surprised that the smaller rig is doing well. Also, as you noted, lower heeling moment is always a nice benefit.

Nothing is more fun than just messing around with boats....even RC ones...

Who is watching this after seeing the AC75s? Trimaran versus monohull, however many similarities when looking at foils

Impressive! What is the all-up weight? I thought on such a fast boat, you would need at least the main full battened. Have you considered a wing mast? Is foiling a hard balancing act? Subbed.

Hello David. On the smaller rigs we use stiffer material for the sails. We have considered a wing mast but cannot work out how to make them sufficiently light to be of benefit, so instead we compromise with a large pocket in the front of the mainsail inside which we slide the mast. My using a fairly stiff material for the pocket we almost achieve a wingmast effect. it liek the current America's Cup monohulls with their 2-ply mainsails. Our boats are not the lightest, we are probably 2600gms with rigs, foils and batteries and electronics. The lightest boats in Europe are probably 300-400gms lighter than us, but we find that weight actually helps the foiling as the boat is not so twitchy in gusts. Our main aim is to have fun foiling. If you want to win racing round a conventional race course then we might design something different

“Multi hull Nut” here... :-D My wife and I are past State Champion Nacra 5.8 sailors but that was a long time ago. What a great video... I love the Idea of multihulls with foils on RCs Actually thought of it about 40 years ago but technology just wasn’t where it needed to be then... I would like any additional information you can get out... do you have a blog or website where people talk about what you’ve done?

Hi Bob (fellow multihull nut). We don;t have a website as we are build these in a garage in Mandurah, south of Perth. just for the love of the boats. My email is iholtkss@gmail.com. If you send me a contact email I can send more details

The NACRA 5.8 is a pretty impressive boat. Never sailed one, but it will outrun my H-18.

amazing I love sailing and foiling but have frozen water right now. I would love to build one of these and experiment/play with it. I watched almost all your videos and these boats have come along way over the last decade. Is there a forum of builders or where would I get plans? what would you suggest as the best place to start, to get into the hobby?

      Hi Jason
The best starter kit can be found at www.rcsails.com. Their Firedragon is a good beginners boat. If you hunt around their website you will also find some free plans. Which country are you in?

@@PerthMini40man thanks for your response, I'm in canada, and I think I would rather go the plan route as I love building things from scratch. another question with your foils do you build in adjustment screws into the hulls to fine tune the angles, would love a video of how you setup and tune the boat and sails as watching the effects in your video is fascinating but to see the actual components and adjustments made to the boat to me would be more interesting...maybe consider it for a future video?

@@jasona.neverforgetfukushim647 Yes we have M2 screws going into nuts epoxied into the cases for fine tuning the foil angles (sorry for late reply!)

Hi there very cool! Best performance for an RC Trimaran I've seen are those you have built! Hypothetical proposal here: would you be interested in collaboration on an RC Foiling Monohull as well as a larger person carrying Trimaran in the future?
