Not only because Travis’s sensitivity to gayness and his struggles with accepting who he is as a person, struggling to learn and accept that being gay isn’t a curse laid upon him by the devil but something that is apart of HIM as a person, but also because of their upbringing. Travis’s dad is the dog man, travis’s dad is the reasoning behind two of the greatest tragedies in Sally’s life. His disfiguration and the death of his mom. I never played Sally Face to the end where the cult segment is, but I’d guess that Sally’s revelation of Travis’s dad being the dogman was devastating. To know that your mom is dead because of him, to know that your mom, your previous life as a happy child, to know that your life would never become one again because of the actions of one man who is simultaneously the father of the guy who bullied you in high school because of his internalized homophobia. Travis is the consequences of something he can’t control that starts at his family tree, and Sally is the victim of the family’s existence. Without Travis’s dad, there would be no Travis, and there would be no trauma for Sally. Eeepeeeeeepp :3
