The top cap did not come off. I’m going crazy trying to loosen it and it just won’t budge.

That is so strange, not sure how the blades are secured. Almost every blade fan I have has the cap.

I was finally able to take out the knob after 3 days trying. Turn it clockwise while holding the middle metal with pliers 🤦‍♀️

It should just unscrew. About every fan I have unscrews.
