I think that's the combination of Nintendo being the only console manufacturer to support the low-end 16-bit market after 1995 and the Nintendo 64 being a huge flop in when compared to the Famicom and Super Famicom (~5 million units vs ~19 million).

​@@Specter227it definitely makes since that was not the best console especially when many games were being made on CDs by this point. It's a shame that on the US they ended localizing games by 1997:/
