  • The companion mostly forward-facing ride through with a light mount. There's a jump cut in the train tunnel (can't remember why) but the fact that there's a ride-stop with the original Jack Wagner warnings makes up for that! Motion is about to occur!

    I'll never forget riding this with my little sister in 1990 or so... I was 15 and she was 8, and we loved it. We shouted throughout the ride, for the characters to watch out, get out of the way, then in the "courtroom" scene, she'd say, "YOU CAN'T SEND ME TO JAIL, I'M JUST A KIIIIIDDDD!" Then we'd go to hell and say, "NOOOOOOO, I'M A CHRISTIAAAAANNN!" We had the best time, this video brought back all those nutty memories.

      And it was a million times better even after Disneyland upgraded theirs. You can't top the unique two track experience of Florida and its removal and destruction was one of many acts of vandalism performed on WDW in the 90s that ruined the place forever.

    • @goatprince1
      @goatprince1 3 роки тому +2

      The reason it looks so unflattering in the video is because everything you see is being illuminated with a flashlight attached to this guy's video camera, as the camera wouldn't pick up the ride's ultraviolet lighting effectively on its own. All dark rides look like trash under normal lighting conditions.

      @@PrimeStoneToons From various sources I've heard, apparently Disney thought the ride needed to have a distinct ending, and they came up with the idea that there needed to be some form of consequence for the reckless driving of Mr. Toad in the ride. In addition, the ride is supposed to be a dream Mr. Toad is having, so it's basically like a nightmare for him. A good analogy is at the end of Mickey's Christmas Carol where Pete (as the Ghost of Christmas Future) pushes Scrooge McDuck into his dug grave where there are flames coming out of the casket. But of course it's just a dream and he wakes up a changed person. Similarly, in the Wind in the Willows, there is a strong element of penitence/repentance for Mr. Toad after experiencing somewhat traumatizing circumstance due to his reckless motorcar escapades/behavior, so it's definitely a distinct motif that actually fits into the story. However, it still is a little jarring in the sense that such a scene depicting "hell" was not present in the Wind in the Willows book or the 1949 Disney Adaptation. In any case, none of this is explained (that it's a dream and figurative rather than literal), and hence a lot of people think Disney was maliciously trying to imply you literally die and go to hell on the ride which is not the case.

    Does anyone actually think this is better then Winnie the Pooh. Not a bad ride per say, but it looks cheap (probably not for the time) but winnie the pooh still holds up and it is probably one of Disney's most know characters unlike Mr. Toad who was for a short and the half lead of a full lentgh movie. Winnie the Pooh i a much better choice. Also honestly the unlike what everyone says, the Disneyland version looks MUCH better (unless it was not what it is today back in the 90's) and even then Mr Toad is probably the worst of the Dark rides of Fantasyland at Disneyland, again not bad and I still love it but the others just look much better made and for more loved (and honestly better movies).

    • @goatprince1
      @goatprince1 9 років тому +1

      redique I think everyone on the face of the planet thinks MTWR was miles better than Winnie the Pooh could ever dream to be. Also, the Disneyland version has stayed almost exactly the same since 1983. And about it looking cheap: Every version of the ride, especially the WDW version, was made with the intent of not looking real, but still looking good and being extremely fun. Trust me, it looked a lot better under ultraviolet light, but this guy's camera couldn't capture much of that, so he had to use a light-mount.

      Mr. Toad's Wild ride was, according to people who actually rode it, way more fun. It's a similar situation to the Disneyland version, if you want to know exactly how they achieve many of the effects. One of the reasons people don't really like pooh was because it replaced an opening day attraction, which this attraction *in particular* is considered by many to be one of the best dark rides Disney has ever put out.
