Hey, people! So I just realized this video is a tad blurry too (and I say "too" because I have a Pet Shop Boys one coming next that is a tad blurrier still). I'm not sure why it happened in a couple of my vids tonight, but the last one I shot is fine, so hopefully this was just a random glitch. Will obviously keep an eye on the situation. Cheers.
Also sorry I didn't realize this was the name of a Bond film. As I explained in another comment, I've never followed that franchise closely, so I didn't realize. My bad!
Hello Matt, All three members of A-Ha were singing, Pal and Magne are usually backing vocals with Morton’s powerful voice out in front. ❤ Take care and i’ll catch you on the next AHA review. 🇳🇴🏴😘. You should hear it live probably on youtube you don’t have to react to it but it will give you a power boost when the audience sings back the lyric the living daylights it’s epic. Hunting High and Low is the same with audience participation it makes it even more special at their concerts.
Oh my!I had sang both songs along this with them, while attenting live gigs (front row watching, near Mag's place).A great moment. My first time on HHAL i couldn't help it and broke in hot tears.
@@alexioverdo5225 Me too. Only seen them once so far, and I'd been on the verge and holding it in right from the beginning but when HHAL started I couldn't hold it in anymore, and by the time we were singing along I was a blubbering mess. There was just something so magical and emotional about it, everybody just united in the beauty of the song and what it meant to us.
Amazing song live with audience participation. You’ll love the east of the sun and memorial beach albums they are my faves. Still performed at gigs and a James Bond theme with Timothy Dalton as Bond.
This song caused them a lot of grief. They wrote it 100%, but to be a James Bond theme John Barry had to OK it. He slightly changed something, got a 50% writing credit and it really pissed the boys off.
And they pissed him off when they said they would change some chords but then didn't - he later called them Hitler jugend because they were so difficult to get to do what he wanted. Don't mess with a-ha!
@@JesperHellvik When they also failed to show up for the film's premiere because they were on tour in Japan at the time, the Bond team were further pissed off. A-ha prioritized the fans, and they had also given notice that they could not be present on the date in question.
@@JesperHellvik As much as he was musical genius, John Barry was notoriously difficult to work with. He and Nick Rhodes argued heatedly over a chord change in A View to a Kill. Needless to say Nick won the argument.
Previous JB music theme was by DDuran, 'A view to a kill".Then this by A-ha.I had bought the maxi single to both of them and i like them both equally. Both magnificent and 'adventurous' film tracks.I like the single's version better than the album's and i saw an interview on which Pal decades later admitted that despite their 'conflict' and tension with John Barry on how the song should sound John was finally right on his option at the time.DD had also a hard time while working with J.Barry too btw.
"The Living Daylights" is the second best James Bond theme. "The Living Daylights" was the first Bond film with Timothy Dalton as 007. The song "The Living Daylights" came out before the album was released coinciding with the movie release and it was reworked a little bit for the album. It was the Side 2 opener. For as good as it is, still not the song I feel is the best song on the album. Likely a coincidental image, but there is a line in "The Living Daylights, "Comes the morning and the headlights fade away." It gets into a similar lyrical space as a line from "Land" by Duran Duran, "Headlights on the window pane, they're getting lost in the light of day."
For my money, The Living Daylights is the best Bond theme, but I'm curious to know what you put in the top spot. The World Is Not Enough takes second place for me, and then I struggle to rank the next few spots with From Russia With Love, Diamonds Are Forever, A View To A Kill, You Know My Name, and Skyfall all competing for position depending on my mood.
@@elyssia7026 My top three bands are Duran Duran, The Bolshoi, and a-ha, so in a way I'm joking that "A View to a Kill" would have to be better than "The Living Daylights." In reality, I think they're both fantastic. Other Bond themes that I know and like are "For Your Eyes Only" (I really like Sheena Easton's voice). "Nobody Does It Better" by Carly Simon. For the rest I had to look at a list and I didn't know "All Time High" by Rita Coolidge was considered a Bond theme. That one is pretty good. I'm somewhat torn about "Live and Let Die." I like Paul McCartney a lot, but he's done better and I loathe the Guns 'n' Roses cover. The only other Bond theme I definitely know from the list is that Madonna song and while I like Madonna not so much with the Bond theme. I feel like if I heard "Diamonds Are Forever" by Shirley Bassey I'd remember it and say it's good. It's been a long time since I saw any of the movies, so there may be a few others I like. I just now listened to the Chris Cornell song you mentioned. That one is very good and his voice is amazing.
You should probably also listen to the single version, which was used in the Bond movie. It released before the album was ready, and they chose to add a different version on the album so that 'fans weren't paying for the same version twice'.
James Bond 'Living Daylights' movie theme song, like DD with "View to a Kill". Really good! This version sounds a little different than the single for the movie.
Yep, learned that after posting this! Part of the issue is I didn't remember there was a bond movie by that name. But yeah, great tune! And a couple others did mention the film studio composer made some changes to the song a-ha submitted.
As the others have mentioned it was a Bond theme, but this version on the album isn’t the same as the one on the movie soundtrack with John Barry’s orchestration. The song is still performed …now as an encore along with Take on Me, at most live concerts and is a great favourite with the fans…btw it sounds much better live! They had nothing to go on but the title when they were asked to write the theme and the lyrics were added in after they took the song to John Barry as a demo and it was accepted….ua-cam.com/video/JjRRyqTaqyQ/v-deo.html
Hi Matt, sorry you weren't given a 'heads up' that this was written as a film theme, so not really a 'personal' experience. Looking at the comments below, it seems there was a lot of bad feeling between the band and the James Bond 'music people'. I am really amazed, therefore, that a-ha have performed this song as their 'finale' at the end of every show (for as long as I can remember) and get the audience to join in singing the title - repeatedly (great fun!). I should have thought they would want to completely forget all about it!!
Hi Matt! I am revisiting your "old" reactions and I was almost sure you had reacted to the single version of this song, too (as you said you would do in a comment below), but I can't find it on the playlist. 🤔 At first I thought it had been blocked, but I can't see any "hidden video", do you by any chance remember doing it? It's strange, I could swear you had done it. 😛
Hey, Sofia! You're right, I thought I had reacted to the single version too, but no, apparently I only did this studio version, live at Valhall, and live on How Can I Sleep... but not the single version, apparently. Alas, will try to rectify that once we get through True North!
@@mattsnider2667 there's something weird here, if we both think you had done the single version too. 😜 Can it have disappeared somehow? Did you check you "original videos"? 🤔 Well, you can always do it when you check all the bonus material on the Deluxe edition of Stay on These Roads, there's no rush. 😉

Hey there! Cheers for the suggestions, I'm not sure about the subtitles, but I'll look into it with the options in UA-cam Studio. And sure, I was already thinking it's getting to the point where I need to make different group-playlists for synth-pop reactions. It may take me a few days but I'll definitely make an a-ha specific playlist. Cheers, thanks again!
Ah, I see. In my defense, I don't really follow the Bond franchise (I think the only one I saw in the theaters was License to Kill with Dalton), so I didn't realize. But cheers, appreciate that insight.
This is a redue of the original version that they done for the movie, it was released during the scoundrel days album, it was a 4th single you could say rather than a 4th track taken from scoundrel days, you should probably do it as a bonus listen before moving onto the next album, as it was a huge hit for them during the 80’s, and been chosen to do the bond song was a massive thing for any artist
It was a bond movie with probably the most obscure title so the context of the lyrics was very abstract really, in the movie bond says a line, I must have scared the living daylights out of her.
