I was diagnosed 10 years ago and I asked my doctor if it would get better. She said no. But she did say PT does help. I recently started going to a chiro and she has helped me IMMENSELY. I also do at home (myself) PT for DDD and that has helped IMMENSELY. I do have to take gabapentin for my RLS, and that does help along with proper sleeping positions. I now sleep on a very cushiony pillow that helps with my neck, two pillows to rest my arms and a larger queen pillow positioned at the knees. Sometimes when I'm in pain, I get angry because I exercised all my life and took great care of my health and this happened. I wish every one to fine relief that works for you as an individual because there is no one fix that fits all. God bless!🙏
@@mariwillalwaysgivethanks you do know that DDD is not a disease. It’s a mechanical problem (posture sometimes) and doesn’t have to progress. It’s a disc that is touching a nerve. And it can get better. Some people have disc issues and never have symptoms or pain and never know until they get an MRI for something else. There is PRP. There is stem cell therapy. PT & Chiropractor. And if it’s really bad radio frequency nerve ablation. ( I would not do that unless I was having trouble walking etc moving and severe pain- the nerve does grow back and procedure has to be repeated) you might need a second opinion from a different Dr) There’s also trigger point injections, acupuncture, dry needling, cupping..estrogen patches..collagen supplements..especially type 11, glucosamine, Turmeric, chrondrontin, fish oil, flax seed oil, no seed oil, only use olive oil or avocado oil. Massages, myofascial release, You may do all of this but didn’t mention it so just threw some of it out there. Read Back Mechanics by Dr Stuart McGill. He treats celebrities and star athletes as they can also have disc issues. You have to pick out the topics to apply to yourself. Yoga to help with depression, but avoiding certain poses. That would depend on your body. Arthritis on the other hand is a different topic.
This is the exact same thing for me. It started when I hurt my back in the military. I was only 27 at the time. I have been struggling for almost 10 years now. I have found that having those pillows to sleep with at night helps a little. My husband calls it the wall of Jericho... they are just all around me. I also have a tumor next to my lower spine along with DDD and spinal stenosis. It took the military a long time to figure out what was going on with me so I kept carrying heavy things and working long hours standing and running. Finally I officially became light limited duty but I feel like in the meantime, my health physically and mentally were getting worse. I was an MA so I was like military police and carrying a bunch of weight on my back and hips. The belt was sitting right on my tumor. I still have dreams about not being able to walk and dragging my feet and trying to lift myself up trying to save someone. That's practically how it felt when I was serving. I would literally be limping and it was a feeling like I was dragging my feet and struggling just to get a few feet... always out of breath because of the extra strength I had to give to go to muster. I had to have steroid shots in my spine which seemed to make things worse, physical therapy, and chiropractor which seems to be the one that helps the most to at least minimize the pain. For the longest time, the military and VA wouldn't let me go to the chiropractor. I would either pay for it myself or just not go at all if I didn't have the money. The pain goes down to my hips and knees. The doctors blame a lot of my pain though on being sedentary but what they don't think about is that I was completely healthy, strong, fast, and flexible and definitely not sedentary when this happened and I was in pain. I am now sedentary because I have been through a lot of depression and yes, I'm sure it doesn't help my issues but I hate when they think my issues are just from being sedentary now. Again, I kept working and not even knowing what was going on with me because the military wasn't doing anything. I understand we are military but if I had the time and opportunity to get to a doctor, I would have liked for them to take it serious. I still did my job the best I could but I knew it wasn't my full 100% that I could give before. I'm only 5 foot also which my body was drowned by weapons and gear lol my chiropractor was shocked when she heard what I did in the military and that they didn't think I needed treatment because she gets big strong police men in with a lot of back pain. And my doctor said there was nothing they can do either but just something to minimize the pain and cope with it. Like you, the only thing I found to help a little is chiropractor which I can't even get the community care VA people to get me enough visits to actually do something. I only get 1 visit a month. By the time my next visit comes, I'm in a lot of pain. I can only last a week, barely two, without a chiropractor appointment. I would pay out of pocket but that costs money and in today's world, well, maybe you know how that is with money situations. I hope these things are really helping you. It's the worst living with this kind of back pain.

when I was 20 years old I got diagnosed with DDD, bulging disks, scoliosis, sciatic nerve, stenosis something and like 5 other things. My back hurts me so bad that I can't even wipe my ass without it causing me immense pain. I am now 23 next month and 3 days ago something popped and It hurts so bad that I just want to cry. I have never considered surgery even for half a second, but ever since it popped I'm going to the doctors office on the 19 to talk to him about surgery. I can't live with this kind of pain.

There is so many ways and suggestions regarding degenerative disc disease. With a little deductive reasoning and concluded my back was not designed for lugging around a heavy head all my life. I squenched my weeney ass spine! I bought a inversion table from Walmart web site, and la la it has allowed me to live my life with little or no pain most of the time at least for now!
Wow! Thank you Dr Tony Nalda. That was a simple and clear explanation but a comprehensive one. Very helpful for me who doesn’t have any medical background.
But i’ve been doing all the treatment for over a year now and I’m nit getting better. pt, core strengthening, cortisol, acupuncture, it’s not helping and I’m in so much pain
2 things: nutrition & activity level. Eating foods that cause temporary hyperglycemia cause damage to discs, just as they do to knees & his & brain & kidneys & nerves. Cut way back on the sweetened beverages & processed "manmade food" products, especially Fructose. A handful of berries daily is one thing, juices sweet teas, Starbucks, cereals, bagels, bread, chips etc WILL CONTINUE DAMAGE TO YOUR TISSUE. You need lots of water, not diet sodas or dehydration. Your daily body mechanics make the other half. How you bend over, how long you sit/if you walk over 10k steps a day, getting proper sleep IN A NEUTRAL SPINE POSITION. Your discs cannot heal if you are lax on these 2.

I heard years ago, but do not know if it is true, that when a person sits on an exercise ball and bounces up and down, it causes a pumping action to occur in the disc which pulls in nutrients into the discs from surrounding the body fluids. This pumping action was said to help preserve the discs by slowing the natural aging process of disc degeneration. Will bouncing on an exercise ball help slow the onset and progression of degenerative disc disease? Would rebounding have the same effect?

The fusion causes adjacent level syndrome.. I'd be looking for artificial discs like the cp-esp in Germany, this can take the pressure off the levels above and below the fusion, and stop the cascade of degeneration.

Hi can you please help me understand my situation… I’ve had DDD for years due to the silliest lower back injury. Since then, over the years I gradually I had more frequent back spasms L5 S6?.. From my most recent painful spasm I looked in the mirror and freaked out to see what looked like scoliosis!… I was sent to do an X Ray and found out that I have mild scoliosis. But I don’t understand why my ‘scoliosis’ can only be seen when I have these spasms due to the inflammation?? So I have scoliosis from having back spasms? Do I have scoliosis in general when I don’t have the spasms? Please clarify I am so confused. I don’t know what my next steps are.. I’ve been dealing with DDD since 17 and I am now 27 and hoping to grow a family soon, but always worried about pregnancy due to my spine. Also would you describe my issue as Chronic pain? I wish that there were people specialised in Scoliosis in Scotland. I watch these very informative videos and I get disheartened because I do not get any treatment for my 3 lumbar and one cervical bulging discs , cannot do anything about all my discs getting thinner and my " very significant" Scoliosis is not treated due to risks outweighing the benefits of surgery. I am willing to save up money to access a chiropractor but these videos and everything I've read says go to someone who specialises in Scoliosis. Can I damage my spine even more going to a general chiropractor? Would they wven treat me? I live in the North East of Scotland and the nearest Scoliosis clinic is in London England. Could some one please advise me if a normal chiropractor could help in anyway. ? So as it stands I take copious amounts of painkillers daily and that's it!
For patients who are not local, we have developed an intensive care treatment plan. This condenses the duration and increases the intensity of the treatment. This intensive formula is what provides the ability to overcome the progressive nature of scoliosis. Intensive does not mean painful; it simply means lots of treatment in a short period of time. After the office treatment is received, patient’s receive an individualized home program to sustain the results achieved. That being said I trip to are office in Celebration, Florida or the start of your treatment.

@@ScoliosisReductionCenter would it be something similar to degenerative disk decease in a sense that it is localised and degenerative in nature. It is also followed by an inflammation that doctors usually mediate with cortisone shots, but this is but a temporary fix. So is it possible that this localised degeneration of cartilage in the facet joints is also caused by misalignment of spine in a different spot that effectively is causing that wear and tear?

I was told I have adjacent degenerative disc disease. I had a spinal fusion seven years ago, and thus because of the fusion, the degeneration. I was told surgery would help, but that is what actually caused it. So if I was to have surgery again, in several years I would have the problem further up my spine, correct?

Hahahahaha You are joking right? Your god did a lousy job with lots of aspects of the human body especially letting arthritis happen. (Why do we need glasses, why do we have an appendix etc etc) I have DDD and so far with much research I have come to the conclusion that the last place to look for help is on UA-cam. I have talked to many professionals in this field and so far no one has any "cures". Best thing is physical therapy. And BTW my daughter teachers evolution to premed students at Yale and your comment will be a great laugh for them as it is easily the stupidest here in the 21st Century online.

( I would not do that unless I was having trouble walking etc moving and severe pain- the nerve does grow back and procedure has to be repeated) you might need a second opinion from a different Dr)
There’s also trigger point injections, acupuncture, dry needling, cupping..estrogen patches..collagen supplements..especially type 11, glucosamine, Turmeric, chrondrontin, fish oil, flax seed oil, no seed oil, only use olive oil or avocado oil.
Same😢 m just 26
Did you take any natural therapy..even am suffering
Thank you!
I’m in my 30s still and receiving this diagnosis was incredibly disheartening. This gives me immense hope as I continue to learn.

I'm 70 and have degenerative discs, lateral spondylolisthesis of the lumbar and scoliosis. My right leg had numbness, tingling and occasionally lose of motor control. Back aches were the norm when I was on my feet. After a few months of physical therapy and chiropractics I then purchased an inversion table and a gym membership. Hi, I have been diagnosed with DDD for my L4,L5,S1 region, and mild scoliosis. What would you suggest to improve the DDD condition and thereby leading to regenerative discs. I do not have any flexibility issues as such, but I feel some pain in the lower back. Would love to hear from you doc, thank you!!!

Hello
I recently went to have my yearly physical, and my doctor said I’m at the point now where I need surgery. She told me that the disc has thinned out, and there isn’t much room anymore.
But, I feel that there is something I can do to correct my issue. I am “NOT” claiming surgery. I’ve heard the disc can be regrown/decompressed. Can you please help me with my back issues? Thank you! 🙏🏽

I have degenerative discs, lateral spondylolisthesis of the lumbar and scoliosis. I suffered from numbness. tingling in my right leg and foot with occasional lose of motor control. Physical therapy, chiropractics, an inversion table, a gym membership and nutritional supplements have kept me off the operating table for more then a year and a half now.
I am a 37 year old man and with it in my neck amd statring in my back. The pain is excruciating to say the least.

Hi can you please help me understand my situation…
I’ve had DDD for years due to the silliest lower back injury.
It’s been going on for 10 years on and off..
Thank you 🙏

What is your take on facet joint osteoarthritis 🤔
What would you like to know ?
@@ScoliosisReductionCenter would it be something similar to degenerative disk decease in a sense that it is localised and degenerative in nature. It is also followed by an inflammation that doctors usually mediate with cortisone shots, but this is but a temporary fix. So is it possible that this localised degeneration of cartilage in the facet joints is also caused by misalignment of spine in a different spot that effectively is causing that wear and tear?

I was told I have adjacent degenerative disc disease. I had a spinal fusion seven years ago, and thus because of the fusion, the degeneration.
