Chinese movies have come a long way. I was surprised how good this movie was because it reminds me of intriguing double plots of Korean movies. I applaud the director for such a masterpiece and hoping for better quality movies such as this.

It would be nice for Sicheng Chen to try something original. The last two movies he has been involved with (as a producer) have been remakes. And I dont mean he should do Detective CHinatown 4!

Interesting... hearing a lot of conflicting things about this movie. I'm curious to see it now, but I wasn't impressed with his last film considering how many changes needed to be made to it

    Great movie!
But can someone explain all the Chinese text on screen? The theater didn't translate any of it 🤦🏻‍♂️

    • @AsianFilmFans

Just a guess, but if it was the end of the film I would ignore it - it would just be some forced message from the government about the bad things the people did in the film and why they were punished.

@@AsianFilmFans Thanks but it was more of the text messages and newspaper headlines and then the screen had a bunch of random words like "Billionaire Inheritance" or something 🤷🏻‍♂️

Absolute garbage of a film. 陈思成 Chen Sicheng truly sold out the crowd on this one. The cinematography was dull and predictable. Every scene was redundant in its composition and thus left nothing to the imagination. Oversaturated colors, lousy musicality, and exaggerated sentimentality. Chen treated the audience as if they are a bunch of morons. The story reinforced the gender divide (闺蜜 v. 男友) and also brought about superficial class distinctions. Rich v. Poor. Many Chinese are upset at the obvious pandering to feminism present in the film and the end scene was perversive to the core. This was one big 广告 moralistic ad - don't do X - Almost a quarter of the movie is spent in flashbacks with little substance to them. You tell us all the info Chen but you never show us anything worth watching. Why not show us the progression of a character rather than give us a 2-minute flashback of their lives and expect us to be fully on board with them in the present scenes - I am still with my friends in Hangzhou debating all the terrible choices this film made.
