another way to use the dragonblade is to instakill a priority target in a teamfight. mercy with rez? dash through her, dragonblade, slash and dash again. 220 damage, the priority target is dead and your job is done. now try and use the remaining few slashes to get a few kills, with the enemy team lacking a core hero and your team having an autistic screaming weaboo with a sword.
an inconvenient truth is a truth even if its a roast. sure he could say it more politely, but whatever hes getting the point across quickly. and his intention is to teach this player and everyone else watching how to play better.
Coincidentally I'm a Genji main. I started playing Genji at the beginning of Season 4 at 1900 SR. I just reached 2505 SR, maining Genji the whole time. I've vastly improved.
I know! I'm finally average! Yay! Although in reality the average SR is completely unknown. All of these websites like MasterOverwatch and Overbuff are biased in that they get different levels of players registering at them. For instance MasterOverwatch gets an average SR of over 2500 because it's what most people know as "the" website for Overwatch data, and therefore all the higher level players flock there. On the other hand Overbuff has an average SR of under 2000, because it's not as well known so a more diverse player base signs up there. I'm not saying that I am above or below average, because until Blizzard releases official data, we have no idea. Besides, once Stylosa told me that rank doesn't matter :P.
TheSoupStar over the past week, I played loads of total mayhem and it improved my dragonblade sooo much the whole flashing back and forth thing, I've improved loads, try it.
Teo Mussalo if u thought they were funny then y u complaining, no one gives a single fuck if u made it. it's just a Meme on this channel so good luck saying that to everyone else who "copied"
I'm in gold, playing Rein on King's Row Defense. I'm trying to play in that spot next to the statue that Stylosa says to be in. I get two teammates telling me and Mercy to move to the choke...
they have no right to boss you around. as the Rein, you control pushes and whatnot. I'd just say no and tell them to get behind my shield. it's the teams job to follow you, not to order you around.
Just inform them that it is unwise to allow them to shoot from their doors into my shields. Instead I'd prefer they use up valuable time walking to hit my shield so we can kill them and give them another walk. Kings row is so difficult on first point anyway because they spawn so dam close.
Dude I'm gonna tell you right now trying to advance out of the gold rank is the hardest thing to do because everyone would rather play their own hero than a hero that benefits the team. I promise you the only way to advance is to play roadhog and keep getting picks and pray to god your team capitalizes on your picks
seth abraham I agree. 2375-2500 is the hardest thing. I remember getting to 2490-2500 sooooo many times then dropping 150. I focused on my roadhog and pharah game because no one knows how to counter either of them in gold and now I'm in 2600.
The way I climbed out was simply playing the "quick-play meta"- I played exclusively pharah, Mei, mercy and roadhog even if it didn't benefit the team because I am most comfortable with them. Everyone else does that anyway so the only way to win is to adopt that mindset, because playing a hero just to fill at a Gold level is stupid. *if you pick lucio or reindhart because your team "needs" it you are throwing, because your team won't play properly anyway*
As a diamond genji, I was so uncomfortable watching this, he stayed on the ground level for the entirety of the match and just used primary fire.... Are you sure you weren't playing Mcree bud? You might as well have been because you would have been much more effective. This was rough dude
WilCD "As a genji main in a tier ahead of his, I am superior to this player in every way. He is terrible with my main, and isn't even close to as good as a professional such as myself" - you
I think he isnt even playing genji correctly. He plays genji like anyone would play soldier and thats wrong. Passively isnt genji's style at all. 1 tip I would give him is when the fight begins try to get to the backlines. Genji can double jump and swift strike. There is way more potential with a genji in the back then a genji in the front.
Nah they only do it to get some poke he does it all the time and when he knows he can get a kill swift strikes. I mean thats just stupid(not to be rude). better off playing soldier like sty says.
I know he just does it the whole match. Better off playing another passive hero that can dps more if he does passive play. Mccree, soldier, roadhog, etc.
Ok, use Sty as a basis. He is at a higher level of play then the most of us. However his teaching skills lack. He just points out the obvious. I'm sure you could have watched this back and made the same exact video. Here's a tip I think you should consider but is difficult to pull off. I don't really see this until around diamond, so you have time to improve other things like positioning, mechanical skill, and understanding of your heroes and their mobility. Basically, at 7:08 you can see the roadhog hooks the lucio. The roadhog was unable to get the pick but at higher levels they will. What you can do is actually dash in between the hog and the lucio and deflect, which saves your lucio and does approximately 300 to the roadhog. It's definitely advanced, but if you can pull it off you'll climb. P.S. Don't always dash into the air before ulting as Stylosa has said. This is only the case when you have an Ana with nano so it makes it easier to hit you with. As an ex-ana player myself, a Genji that dashes strait up is so obvious that I get my sleep dart ready for when he dives on me, and because Genji's dive right on you it's quite easy to land the sleep dart.
Sty You Dont have to always dash in the air before dragonblade the best thing about dashing in the air Its easy to nana the right target but If You Dont have a ana. sometimes Its better to not dash. Atleast this is My own experience as a high master genji main. Keep it up
Julius Van Diepen the main reason I dash in the air is so I have air time to decide who I'm gonna dash onto first and then dash Into them from the air.
Something I've found success with is dashing through enemies before using blade, that way you can kill them with one strike and a dash, and then chain that to other enemies.
Okay, so around at 17:35 you said "Why are we not dashing in there?". If you dashed in there, you would have wasted your dash and have no means of escaping. Genji's dash should only be used when you can finish off an enemy or you NEED to get away. It shouldn't be used to initiate a fight.
Dash isn't only for possible resets. Genji is very good at confusing the enemy if he is in their face. The only way he can get into their face without getting stomped is with quick movement like his dash. Most of the time dashing for a reset is fine but if you can dash in secure a kill with alt fire then reset the dash that way you can maximize your effectiveness.
I'm not hating on this Genji, and I'm not praising myself, but it makes me feel really good about my Genji because i do all the things that Sty recommends for Genji. I'm a low diamond Genji main btw (3010 borderline Platinum)
I am not a Genji player, because my aim is far from good yet and I am not a good dodger, I labeled him as unplayable for me, though to be honest, I always wanted to try Genji as a possible dps pick if I need one. So, now I try to learn Genji mechanics and gameplay essentials and I have to say, that I ABSOLUTELY agree that saving and NOT using ults when it is not necessary saved me a couple of tight games. Oh boi though, Genji is SO hard... sigh, should I give up my dream?
No, don't give up. Just play some quick play or bot matches to practice. Never give up on a hero completely, because you might have to pick him when your team needs you to in a competitive match. Genji is one hero that is very important to learn, or aleast know how to play because his playstyle is so different, and his importance is crucial. But, I hate him anyway because I'm a reaper player, and I hate when he deflects.
Thank you! Your words of encouragement are really nice and I will do my best. Reapers are a nightmare for me who plays Zen as a main, but I am always happy to have one on my team because they help me take down tanks even faster. Thanks a lot!
Sty you keep apologizing for going into deeper territory in this video but it's perfect. this is truly how coaching works. a player is out of position so the coach doesn't just tell him that. he shows him where he should be vs. where he was. this is truly a coaching series now. fantastic job. my only suggestion would be to invite another player or even add you already account to position you alt as a "tackling dummy" and then you show how some attacks could work. but honestly what you are doing now is what I always felt was missing from your videos. outstanding man!
personally i love your opinions on how things should be used via individuals mistakes, other then detailed explanations of what they could be doing, but i suppose explaining something you cannot see without the mistake happening, then i understand, but that genji blade cut up unto Ulti into slash down + kill + dash through is really amazing, and overwatch is a game of wits and situational reactions, so every tactic does not work every time and that's the magic of this game :D, thank you for your opinions and this video i learn more every time i watch.
I do love the Genji coaching videos because they've taught me a lot, as someone who is trying to be a really good Genji main. You've said multiple times that Dash should only be used to finish someone off or to escape a fight, or up in the air for Dragonblade. But sometimes you mention dashing *into* a fight even though you've previously stated it shouldn't be done, which sometimes makes it rather difficult to decide when to and when not to dash in.
typical gold. sees there's already 2 dps, solo healing lucio, no tanks and he picks genji. lol learn to flex or you'll never climb. people like this is why elo hell exists.
he can but explained he does mostly PC because PC videos have the best quality most of the time. he picks videos to analyze based on video quality, not platform.
This just made me so much better after I watched this I did (MOST) of the things and we won 10 times in a row btw the others watch these videos to help them so we were so much better than we were thanks!
name being bad at a game = retarded? I agree that someone should gain skill in experience but I don't think retarded is a great way of describing a person who can't
At 23:15 you can actually see there's someone behind the Rein. It's not obvious but there's someone. I'm not sure but I think this is Mercy, so he probably wanted to kill her first, that's why he dashed in that direction. What do u think ?
useful comment and great to show us what you mean in custom game i'd like to see more of that!!! just be careful not to loose your point while doing it and stop the action for too long
Hey Stylosa, wanted to thank you for your advice this season - in large part thanks to your videos and general advice, I was able to get up from my placement rank of 1620 up to a season high of 2211 (ended at 2193). Looking forward to getting to Platinum in Season 5!
As a GM genji With the dragon blade it is also really effective to dash into the target (mercy as she is usually genjis priority) and then pop the ult and slash , leaving her with 30 Health and dashing again , it works on any squishys but even more effective on mercys if they try to fly away after the first slash. Anyway good video sty ;)
8:20 its actually better to primary fire since the monkey is a pretty jumpy hero. alternate fire could end up in missing 3 shurikens while primary always pretty much guarantees 1 hit
GO GO POWER RANGERS!!!!!!
Anyways lol. You guys like the little addition of the explanation clip?
Unit Lost - Great British Gaming power rangers..
Unit Lost - Great British Gaming yes it's an awesome idea!
Unit Lost - Great British Gaming why is the description say mercy coaching? Is genji a healer now?
Pythor12706 lol i didnt notice that
The explanation clip was nice
You should use it more often, makes it much easier to understand your thought procces
This genji should pick Junkrat instead.
He will be a lot more effective with his "choke point spamming".
The explanation clips are an awesome addition! Anyone else agree?

I agree! Much easier to know what he's talking about.

If u primary fire hit 1 shot dash then melee the mercy would be a 1 slice then u can start slicing and dicing
Yeah, but I'd rather dash up to quickly scout all squishies..
Don't dash straight at her, u might go too far and not be able to land a hit and now ur behind the team and cant hit anything because ur too far
Im terrible with blade and this really helps me in game👍

I find your lack of dash combos disturbing
Next level coaching here Sty. Liking the video tutorial.
I love how you use clips of yourself to explain. Pls continue with it.
Genji asks ana if he wants to combo.
Sty: You should be asking for ult combos.
Sty, the additional effort of the explanation clip is amazing. A great new touch.

I know he just does it the whole match. Better off playing another passive hero that can dps more if he does passive play. Mccree, soldier, roadhog, etc.

That’s why there is a deflect xD
dude there gold sleeping that genji is really hard

Yeah it's not worth doing it all the time, bad advice saying to do it all the time.

Roodni gotta try sometimes.
xHayden it was a confirmed kill si he could dash out
I have just realized part of my love for Overwatch comes from your legendary coaching vids. Keep up the great work Stylosa!
I love this series. It has helped me up from high silver and low gold all the way into mid platinum. Keep on going Unit Lost!!!
Description says "overwatch mercy coaching" is that supposed to be an insult to mercy players?
Max it was a mistake he fixed it
it should of been

I do love the Genji coaching videos because they've taught me a lot, as someone who is trying to be a really good Genji main. You've said multiple times that Dash should only be used to finish someone off or to escape a fight, or up in the air for Dragonblade. But sometimes you mention dashing *into* a fight even though you've previously stated it shouldn't be done, which sometimes makes it rather difficult to decide when to and when not to dash in.

Genji needs Healing.

Never spammed "I need healing."
That's why he is going down in SR. Just saved you 31min!
Can You do console players to?
MCM Gaming yes he can
MCM Gaming the Mei he did was Xbox One
he can but explained he does mostly PC because PC videos have the best quality most of the time. he picks videos to analyze based on video quality, not platform.
Avelix Xbox runs Overwatch at 60fps standard and 1920x1080, which if you look at the end of the video is his ideal settings.
Syundown but it's about the quality of the recording

BOOTUNZ no
Bon Jobi he was being sarcastic you pop tart
Fernando Arreguin lol so was he but XD why did I lol at you calling a random person a pop tart lmao XD
BOOTUNZ That's a pro genji!
Thanks I’m a bronze genji main and this helped me alot
I love how much time you put into your videos keep up the good work!!!!
As a Plat genji main this triggers me
Shada Blaze as a diamond genji this triggers me
Shada Blaze as a non-genji main I don't think care and if you're a plat genji you're an average
As a mei main i love all Genjis.
Hey, chill out ;)
Shada Blaze You being a genji main triggers me
Hey unit lost, when you try to find a game now lucio's eyes flash weirdly. Do you think this is a clue?
👀
This just made me so much better after I watched this I did (MOST) of the things and we won 10 times in a row btw the others watch these videos to help them so we were so much better than we were thanks!
When you want to like the video but you realize you have already liked it before watching.
He's lvl 300+ and he's HORRENDOUS!!!
ImmEquinox agreed
Level doesn't mean shit. You can be gold banner and still suck ass. You earn xp regardless.
name being bad at a game = retarded?
I agree that someone should gain skill in experience but I don't think retarded is a great way of describing a person who can't
I've seen silver border way worse. Your level doesn't entitle you to a skill level you haven't reached yet
"Saw title"
(facepalm)
You have obviously not seen my ''How to be a pro Genji'' video
StupidThingsYouMayLike no one has with your 20 subs
Foxkirito Charazu Arca But did i say that i was famous or anyone watched any vids i made? (i havnt made any anyways because im not retarded)
Foxkirito Charazu Arca im not wasting 5 hours of my life trying to make videos, its retarded
Foxkirito Charazu Arca
You don't get any subs on videos that took that long because you make gay drawing videos that nobody wants to watch.
Foxkirito Charazu Arca your not a content creator if you havnt posted in a fuckin year you idiot.
You're so energetic, I love it! You also have a really nice voice, quirky and fun :D
You are really good at doing this man. Good work its really enjoyable to watch and learn more
Stylosa daddy can you analyse my road to silver gameplay
holy shit was this genji bad, no hate but what the heck... .-.
vozaxgfx™ seriously, this guy probably had 44 minutes on genii or smthn
Thu Ta Naing yup hahahaha
vozaxgfx™ I agree
I heard u were strong try and pin me
Btw keep up the great content
Loved the additional information! You're doing fan-fkn-tastic!
Thank you for finally doing another genji over analyse
I am a widow main and i hit most of the shots i shoot and hit most of them, im in gold and thats bcs I rarely play comp. Not all gold players are bad.
Acrozze I bet your shit
Vorkkz Games I bet your that guy in the team who has a tantrum and throws when he doesn't get his main lol you suck
+Vorkkz Games you're
Matt Pascual hasn't society moved past correcting people spelling on a UA-cam comment section
It doesn't matter if you land your shots of you don't get the kills. If you're just charging healer ults, then you're a bad wodoe
1900 SR is silver lul
Skraube_Lorde He got a rank over 2000 so he got Gold, then he lost some games and got on 1900 but he can't lose gold
TorbjornPro he's playing in sylver
i understand that he has the gold symbol but i thought it was funny cuz it says gold in the title
Skraube_Lorde he technically is gold but with silver sr because you can't drop out of lower ranks
this genji is so bad
sinon Sinon FTW
Yea same to asuna sword art online
sinon Sao is for weeb peices of shit with no life so they watch anime for tiddies
At 23:15 you can actually see there's someone behind the Rein. It's not obvious but there's someone. I'm not sure but I think this is Mercy, so he probably wanted to kill her first, that's why he dashed in that direction. What do u think ?
Subscribed you, in the first min I watching the video, this kind of analyse is so much more useful, than the guide video.
I just learned when you use dragonblade your dash resets I have missed out on so many plays of the game...
this was so much better with the extra gameplay from you explaining things
useful comment and great to show us what you mean in custom game i'd like to see more of that!!! just be careful not to loose your point while doing it and stop the action for too long
Hey Stylosa, wanted to thank you for your advice this season - in large part thanks to your videos and general advice, I was able to get up from my placement rank of 1620 up to a season high of 2211 (ended at 2193).
I love the genji dancing while he's talking seriously.
8:20 its actually better to primary fire since the monkey is a pretty jumpy hero. alternate fire could end up in missing 3 shurikens while primary always pretty much guarantees 1 hit
I love deflected mcree's flash back at him, saying hello, then just killing him easily lol
I like this new over analysed thinking about sending some tracer gameplay in.
At 16:00 where stylosa is talking serious and you just see the genji being like "what up brah?"
Watching this Genji makes me feel better about my Genji play
thank you for your videos! the new concept is great
