I'm sorry to hear your story Larry. It's sad to think of all the children that have experienced a circumstance like yours and it's really depressing. I don't know where you're at in religion due to your experience but I'm still praying and hoping to be a part of the change and take action to prevent kids from being abused like that including by a figure with a religious authority.

I was raised in an Irish Catholic family of twelve siblings. We attended parochial schools and were active members of St. John's RCC. This was in the 1960's and 70's. In 2018 it was discovered that the Diocese of Buffalo had kept secret files of abusive clergy for decades. The Buffalo Evening News and plaintiffs attorneys published these allegations. The files were stolen from the chancellor's office by an employee, S. O'Connor. The numerous abuse survivors now had proof to sue the various Church entities. Bishop Richard Malone was forced to resign and the diocese declared bankruptcy. This is the reason why parishioners have stopped attending Mass and/or financially supporting the church's ministries.

Takes a grown man to go to a place of pure hell and trauma and talk about it. I wasn't molested by a figure of religion but I was with a older guy who was my "boss" at age 13. I pulled a knife on him for it and it unfortunately landed me behind bars as a juvenile. Still to this day I can't drive past his house without hoping to one day watch it burn to the ground. You have some big kahunas man.

I commend you for having the courage to address this!! I was married for 20 years and my husband was molested as a child. He was troubled as a youth and has questioned his sexuality his whole life. I finally divorced him 12 years ago after he cheated on me multiple times and refused to stop or be honest with me. I thought I wasn't good enough, but after all these years I have come to understand that he has to pursue women to reinforce that he is not gay. He has never been faithful to any of the women.

It's gotta be sick to have that as your first sexual experience and that mental association. It's especially sick for predators to pretend to be a holy person

I was an altar boy for 6 years. Luckily, the priests I was around were very nice and did not do anything bad. Sorry for what you had to go through. I can not imagine what it must have been like. I am no longer a catholic, or I guess nothing really. I have studied the bible and other religious books extensively. I have found most religions do not follow their holy books. That is why I do not practice any religion.
