Nice job Ian-very elegant solution. My breather tube literally ruptured along the mid section, was prob 10 yrs old. I took a new rubber one and cut off the ends and spliced both ends on to a 3/4 inch aluminized plumbing fitting with RTV sealant at both ends-was a bit fiddly to fit in situ with the front carb removed but has held up pretty well over 2 yrs with very minimal intermittent oozing. Wish I had your metal work abilities but am glad my dodgy fix means the head didn't have to come off! Cheers.
Thanks Mark. Your fix is interesting. Its given me an idea for another solution using a 3 piece construction. An expandable metal middle section with two rubber/plastic ends, top and bottom.
Ian-I think that would work well. Adjustable mid section would definitely make fitting/adjusting easier. Will be interested to see what you come up with!
Many thanks for the interest. I need to concentrate on getting the Elan back on the road, but may be over the winter I'll make a few tubes up. They are quite time consuming to make , what do you think I could sell them for?
Hi Ian, I don't have access to a lathe other wise I would make something similar or the same. I would happily buy one off you if you were able to make one up. BTW love your channel and I've owned my Europa special since 1979 and am currently rebuilding my twin cam myself.
I've got a rough sketch that I used as the starting point and developed the finished item as I made it. I'll dig it out and send it to you if you would like.

Do you have dimensions you could share? Sounds like fun to make.
