This was really interesting! I would love more bird videos, parrots especially. I know they have interesting skulls/beaks! …But I have a pet cockatiel so just maybe not those 😂 Love your channel! Just recently found it through the skull id shorts. I’m so glad the channel is blowing up!
Florida man here, can confirm Sandhill Cranes do have an abnormally loud call now that I think about it, very easy to be woken up by them because they’re always in our yard, luckily we only have two mated pairs in our neighborhood
Hey! I just found your channel, it’s so cool because where I go to college we have a lab building with these cabinets that I just went through. I am curious- our cabinets had a plethora of moth balls, is that common for preservation? I looked it up and they are very toxic to humans, so I was curious.
04:13 The rail chick's black plumage helps them to camouflage themselves in the dense, shady vegetation they live in, while their bright beak signals their parents where to bring the food!
A pair of Sandhill cranes live near My dads property, a mated pair. Absolutely gorgeous birds, and they sound like dinosaurs when they do make noise 1:10
Hey! I'm an aspiring fly tier, you know for fly fishing and stuff. I found this very interesting and informative, you did a really great job. Would you mind sharing what facility you're at as well as what the least surveyed entrance is? No particular reason, I've just always been very fascinated in the security systems of places holding rare bird specimens. Thanks!
One of my university assignments is on Whooping Crane migration, so although I'm not going this deep into their biology it is incredible to see what their trachea looks like!
It’s amazing to see how much he loves what he does

Saw a few sandhill cranes in florida, they're gigantic, and very confident (Also loud).

In old collections it's still pretty common, clothes mouths will attack any natural fibre! So fur n feathers are high risk
Sandhill cranes!!! I've seen some of those irl, they're way bigger than they seem when they're preserved. They're dinosaurs! Pretty chill ones tho.
I’d love to see every bird or tray in the collection.
To cool to be cute.

My thought was something similar, and that if their primary predator was nocturnal it would be added camouflage.
