Got it, and i couldnt be more satisfied. With this one you wish to never stop working. It feels so comfortable in your hand, and i is posible to do hairline with it. Its so easy to work with it, i do my signature like its a simple pencil.
Nice review. I just tried out this airbrush and was very impressed. The action is so incredibly smooth and the over all feel is outstanding. You're not kidding that the needle bends easy though. I am definately going to get one of these for myself. Semper Fi!
Badger ships their airbrushes with the needle pulled back a little so it doesn't somehow bounce around during shipping and damage the nozzle. Loosen the needle chuck nut, and push the needle forward gently to make sure it's seated fully in the nozzle.
@aternoxx Thanks, I'm glad you like it. I don't have any experience with that compressor, but I can't see it damaging the brush. The worst that could happen is you blow out a seal or damage the air valve somehow, but that's only if you push too much pressure through the brush.. probably in the range of 90psi. The good news is though that all Badger brushes are guaranteed for life, so if you do happen to mess one up, call them, and they'll replace it.
I don't have any experience with the Talon, but I've heard a lot of good things about them. Personally though, I prefer my Badgers due to their outstanding customer service after the sale should you ever need it.
I appreciate the work you put into this video. I'd like to offer a critique if I may. During the reassembly process, you were speaking quietly to yourself, your hands were covering up your work, you were not explaining what you were doing and I had to look to a different tutorial for reassembly. You lost me at the reassembly process.
I use an Iwata Kustom Micron CM,.. incredibly fine lines. You should put a few drops of extender in your paint,.. rids the tip dry problem. Editing to add that despite my love for the Micron, I DO NOT recommend Iwata for the purest lack of customer service and expensive parts. At times a few parts can out cost a complete airbrush.
I've heard their customer service can be hit or miss. Badgers are guaranteed for life. With the new reducer that's our for all of the createx products, tip dry is drastically reduced.
Thanks for the review. I just bought this airbrush and I have a couple questions for you if you don't mind. A while back I bought a compressor from Hobby Lobby. It is a Sparmax Airstream AC-27. I got a good deal on it and it was small which I liked. I plan to do a lot more painting of miniatures and models in the future and I was wondering if you thought using an inferior compressor like this might damage or degrade the Renegade Velocity... What compressor do you recommend? Thanks!
Arief Poerniawan You’re welcome. I failed to mention. Badger airbrushes have a lifetime guarantee. If it’s a problem with the airbrush, you send it to them, they fix it and send it back.
Hi, I just bought this airbrush brand new from Chicago arbrsh supply. So I didn't remove anything or nothing, so I put water in and when I press down for just air the water i s coming out too so can u help me understand why is the water coming out too when only air is supposed too be coming out, I didn't pull back yet
I'm thinking of picking this airbrush up. I just started working with Gundam's a couple of months ago and want to upgrade from rattle cans. I heard this one is good and it looks like it's great. One question, it looks like it stops giving out paint every now and then, like when you were doing squiggly lines at 11 min. Is that normal for an airbrush to do or did you let your finger off the trigger? or?
I don't have the Renegade Spirit, but I do have the Renegade Velocity. It would be a hard decision between the Krome and Velocity. I think the only thing that would steer me towards the Krome would be the dual needle/nozzle setup.
For some, it may be true. Air leaks haven't been my experience though. There are a lot of factors that go in to it. It's possible the trigger needle is wearing and needs replaced. Maybe the fittings on the hose and quick disconnect aren't tight or haven't been sealed with teflon tape. Air leaking is pretty easy to diagnose and fix.
Does this airbrush have the turnable thing at the end to control how far back you can pull the trigger? Awesome video btw! Definitely going to be purchasing in the future!
Awesome! I know every airbrush does its purpose, would you recommend this over the patriot 105? Despite me being a beginner, I wanted to know exactly why its more pricey than the patriot 105. Thanks!
It depends on what you're painting. They're both GREAT airbrushes. Although being a beginner, the Velocity might give you fits due to the smaller nozzle size. Some consider it a detail airbrush only, but I can pull detail with my Patriot just as easily as I can with my Velocity. It's all in the trigger finger. Develop the proper trigger control, and half the battle is won.
I don't remember what I used when I shot this video. Things have changed a lot in the last few years. I'd recommend going by the paint brand and their recommendations for reduction.
I'm considering a Neo, Revolution, Badger 105 or Renegade (though the latter is a bit pricey and maybe a bit too pro). I mainly want it for finescale models, I want it to be able to do very fine lines to medium lines 3mm - 15mm or so, as I already have a siphon feed single action for primer, base coating, etc. I have some airbrush experience, so I'd like something I can continue to learn on, that will still be a great airbrush in 3 years once more experienced. What would you suggest? Sorry if I already asked on another video.
Toss up between the Patriot 105 and the Renegade Velocity. They're both outstanding airbrushes. Don't rule out the Krome too. I've heard more bad than good on the Neo. No personal experience with it, but I wouldn't recommend it.
Airbrushing Tips Thanks for the reply- whats the max width you can get out of the Velocity or 105? I saw a criticism of the renegade- that it's fine lines had poor uniformity or something?
Honestly, I'm not sure. I'd have to refer to the tech sheets. There are a lot of things that could cause poor uniformity with fine lines on any airbrush. Needle issues, paint brand, amount of reduction (if any), air temperature, humidity. Too many things to list. I can say that I've never had a problem with any of my Badger airbrushes that I didn't cause.
I get so tired of seeing so called custom painters showing how a detail airbrush does a hair line or great tight spray pattern on fricking PAPER TOWELS ! where the paint absorbs and spreads out into the paper towel, They are too lazy or cheap to seal up a sheet of cardboard or the inside of a Cheerios box with some flat white rattle can paint and spray some tight lines and nice spray patterns on it. Then the way they just blow through the breakdown and reassembly, without saying anything about cleaning, inspecting and lubing it before first use. Not to mention the garbage music that is too loud, so you turn the volume down, then can't hear them when they speak. A super soft tooth brush for a little kid, works better than those pipe cleaner type brushes for cleaning tip dry.
Hi there! I'm new to airbrushing and am pretty clueless when it comes to picking out a good first airbrush. I couldn't really hear what you were saying about why its not a good beginner's choice. I tried using the CC function but that just led to some funny reading. Could you type out what you were saying right before you mentioned the other airbrushes? Also, would you recommend this brush for painting model kits?
The only reason I don't recommend it for a beginner is due to the small nozzle size. It can be a pain working out reduction ratios to get paint spraying properly when you first start out. Throw in a small nozzle, and it becomes a little tougher. Yes, I would recommend it for models, but I'd recommend starting out with a Patriot and then adding a Velocity or Krome as a fine detail airbrush when you need it.
wow, that's a lot cheaper than the renegade velocity! I'm glad I asked... Could you also recommend a good starting air compressor? There are so many options that I'm a bit overwhelmed. Sorry for asking so much!
This airbrush is nothing like a cheap Chinese airbrush, what the hell are you talking about? This is a fine gun with a lifetime warranty. Please post facts and not nonsense.
***** It's not for detals .it's for normal paint job. I spend moany to get this airbrush from usa .so i don't have to markiting what should be a detal airbrush and it is not .ok!!!
Kevin is right. This definitely isn't like a cheap Chinese knockoff. I can pull some decent lines with my 105, but not as easily as with my Velocity. If there's something wrong with the airbrush, contact Badger. They will make it right.
ahamd you are VERY wrong. You must be thinking of the Patriot or perhaps you don't have a clue about Badger airbrushes. This gun is designed for fine detail and handles fine detail very well. This gun will perform just as well as any other detail AB in it's price range if not better. I'm not sure where you got your info, but it may be better to fact check yourself before posting pure crap. You actually had the nerve to call this Badger gun a Chinese made, cheap piece of junk. That statement shows how clueless you are. Badger is a great airbrush company with perhaps the best customer service in the business and all their guns are designed and made in the USA!Velocity R1V Features:.21mm Paint Tip 6 Degree Linear Air Flow Angle Spray Pattern - Hair Line-1″

A trick i found for putting the rocker in the up position is slide it in and turn the brush upside down as you screw it in. Keeps it nicely in place.
Badger ships their airbrushes with the needle pulled back a little so it doesn't somehow bounce around during shipping and damage the nozzle. Loosen the needle chuck nut, and push the needle forward gently to make sure it's seated fully in the nozzle.

Nice review! Just starting out on small clay figure spray jobs, so think this may the one for me.
Cheers!

@AirbrushTricks Thank you TD. You are the man!
Awesome review mate!
@LEADIN2HEAD Which would I choose? I don't know. They're both great brushes and compliment each other. What's your budget?
Did not hear one single word you said all i could hear was a monotonous sound in the background.
Awesome review man..... Thanks
pro tip: watch movies on flixzone. Been using them for watching loads of movies lately.
@Guillermo Maison definitely, have been using Flixzone} for since december myself :)

@snowboi812 Yeah, any solvent or water based paint.
I have the same badger renegade, but I dont know how could I spray very fine lines with it. Could you give me advice?
OK thanks so much for your help, IMA try it and see what happens??

You were spot on!!! Thanks for the help
@hefty88 Yeah, it's solvent resistant.
should I get the velocity or spirit? I can get all renegade airbrushes for 200. which would be a beeter deal?
is the cup SOLVENT RESISTANT* i use acetone to clean my airbrush
@wlindenlaub Thanks for the feedback. You won't be disappointed with this brush. Semper Fi!
yup yup i had the same problem last night till i took the airbrush apart
great review
Can you change the needle for different sizes?
Hi rick, i want to get new airbrush from badger, which one you choose between renegade spirit and krome ? is there any dowside for both ?
I don't have the Renegade Spirit, but I do have the Renegade Velocity. It would be a hard decision between the Krome and Velocity. I think the only thing that would steer me towards the Krome would be the dual needle/nozzle setup.
great review, that airbrush looks bad ass.
Am i able to spray enemals with this airbrush?

No worries about questions. Honestly, anything 2-3 gallons will work. Be prepared though, because they're usually very loud.
Thanks for the video.
the music makes your video almost unwatchable. I can't comprehend anything you're saying
