So I'll need to add an addendum to the review. Someone on kickstarter asked me about the dosimeter and psychoacoustic tuning, so I gave a shot at max volume and it does change how these headphones sound. I'll need to try a few of my songs again from my review. I'm not used to maxing out the volume since source volume can vary a bit, but while loud, I don't feel in danger of hearing loss or that it's painful.

Hello @cilvre, I backed the ks project but eventually gave up before it ends mainly because I had doubts about the multi drivers implemented in these headphones and how good they could have been tuned. Your review makes me feel I was right about letting it go. The team must have been working hard and having to take difficult choices in order to release their headphones. The quality seems just decent and actually below what they announced.

I heavily disagree here, and I'm saying that with some Audeze, Senn, and Grado by my side here. They're a mile beyond the Sony you have lying there as well. They're bassy as hell yes, but take a few days to acclimate and there is a WIDE difference between them and other bass-heavy consumer headphones. They're not flawless by any stretch but easily the most fun pair I own.
Did you have any addons? Are you located overseas? They shipped 70% of US backers with only headphone orders, and 30% of international with only headphone orders, the rest to be filled in August
I don't know that they are the worst sounding to me, it really depends on what you listen to and want to hear. They are fun for me for metal and some dance/edm due to the sound signature, but there is a lot I wouldn't use these for.
Thank you for your review and glad that backers are starting to see their headphones turn up after the uncertainty and poor PR/communication from the Heavys team.
After these first reactions I’ve seen I am wondering how people could have been stoked during the NYC event and why people like Derrick green talked so psyched about the quality. It’s still a mystery how Heavys made a lot of poor decisions during the project like changing the design. That was a key selling point IMHO. The involvement of Axel Grell raised the expectations and convinced most backers to pledge. If this is the best he can do I wonder where he got his status and so called reputation from. It’s a disappointment and I feel terrible I convinced other people to back this project. For me it’s the last time I participated in kickstarter. But thanks for the review you did, I think it will get lots of views👍

@cilvre I will, and I've been torn on what headphones to buy for a couple months. I've been watching so many reviews. They all seem to come down to personal preference to be honest. I listen to all kinds of music, not just heavy metal. So, I dont want headphones to be just loud. I need them to be sound rich. I know it's cliche, but the Tool- Fear inoculum album is a good example for headphones testing. You have good guitar, good bass guitar, excellent vocals, deep drumming, often Tribal drumming, haunting and melodic sounds. I also listen to a lot of electronic/industrial music. Lots of synthetic work. If these headphones weren't geared to metal they would have been my number 1 pick. I'm willing to spend up to about 700. But reviews like yours and some for the Sony Xm5 are what led me to the Sennheiser M4
I'll have an updated more thorough review soon with some of these questions answered, now that I've had more than a day or two with the headphones. But call quality was fine and mic quality was good as well, the other person could hear me as clear as if I was on the phone normally.
Audio seems muddy 😂 I used only the Aux cable. Im using a CD player, so no phone here. Theres a real problem here when Gwen Stefani sounds better than Dragonforce 😂😂😂😂 Bluetooth sounds great too... But thats not what I wanted these headphones for 🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️🤷♂️ The plastic leatherette cups are literally glued to the set😂 they cant be replaced unless you tear them off and glue on something else
Stupid question and you might already have done it, but do make sure you power them on when using the AUX cable. They do play sound even with the amp off but it sounds substantially worse than on.
I got mine last week and honestly they are nothing special at all. Basic bass and what l really hate is how low their volume is. I would return them if I could. Don't buy them.
@@cilvre i ordered my pair from the Heavys website. I just found out a day or two ago those orders wont even start shipping until all the KS orders are done. I dont mind the waiting but the lack of good communication is really starting to annoy me.
Yeah, the lack of comms has been an issue throughout. KS and IG orders should be done shipping next month if anything they have said remains true. So I'd assume either August or September since they should be ramped up in production by then.
@@cilvre maybe it was dumb to order from the site but i wish id known otherwise I definitely would have just gone onto the KS. They’re doing stuff so weird though because your here making a review as backer number 4517 but i was talking to a guy on facebook who said he was backer 127 and hasnt even gotten a shipping email yet. Idk i want to hang in there and get my pair but ive been on the edge of trying to cancel and get refunded for a while now.
some of the earlier backers got add-on's to their orders or are located outside the US. They said those backers orders would be pushed out after the headphone only orders, with 80% of the headphone only orders being shipped out for the US by the end of July, and 20% of the international headphone only orders being shipped out by end of July. They said all others would be in August to fulfill all backer orders.
The sound you are describing to me is almost the same as skullcandy crusher evo ($157), except sonically inept. . This is the first review that spells out how inept they sound and cheaply made they are. I waited 8 months and heavys kept lying about shipping, so I got a refund and jumped off the bandwagon. Based on this review, I'm very glad I chose not to get these things.
Audio is muddy. Mostly because of the electric stuff that's in the headphone. It has Bluetooth... It's not 100% Wired 😓😨 the Aux cable is "2.5" any 3mm is useless on Heavys 🤦🤦🤦

Really feel like they overpromised and ended up skimping out on higher quality materials and tech in order to cover costs.

I was so skeptical about getting these. I’m sorta glad I didn’t. If these do lossless-hi res lossless then I think a DAC will clean these up a bit.
FINALLY!!!! an actual non-biased review

In my followup of a week with them, i agreed a bit more with that sentiment and called them more fun
What was your backer number? I ordered mine pretty close to the start of the Kickstarter campaign and haven't received any updates.
Backer 4517, with zero addons.
I'm 614 and haven't heard a thing WTF

@@ZqqesMotion Backer 680 here. Haven't heard anything either.
My fun bt headphones are skullcandy crusher evo for much less $ then these ...
How the hell do I charge these
Wall charger or external battery pack
I found these to be the worst sounding headphones. V shaped isn't enough to describe them. I call them mid treble scooped to oblivion. It's atrocious.

How quiet is your source volume? I can get these uncomfortably loud without too much effort
still pretty cool to be apart of a up and coming brand

was backer #4517, with zero addons. if you haven't received info yet, its likely you will be in the final august batches they ship out

As a happy owner of a set of Momentum 1 over ears, I shouldn't get these?
I haven't used the Momentum 1, so I can't give a good comparison for that set.
Does anyone know how to turn off the annoying angry system voice at power on/power down?
There isn't a way yet, i suspect the eventual app will give us some control over these settings. But give them feedback directly on it
Will do. Thanks for the response!
I loved mine honestly

how much did they cost?
On Kickstarter, you could back them for about $169 for headphones only, and currently on heavys.com you can preorder with accessories around $259
