love your tutorial vids, only think I would've added is how to manage setting up tentacles at the start of the game vs guarding the bush so your buff doesn't get invaded (especially when your jungler goes bot for a ward-recall then goes topside and meets blitz and friends) or the enemy doesn't start a proxy. As I was writing this I saw your reply in another comment so thanks for that comment!

you might want to give the tentacle spawn locations names or descriptions e.g. next to the lamp or behind the big stone. that way it's easier to remember. i've seen this in a vision guide and it helped me to remember how to ward tribrush from dragon pit (stand in the bottom crack + click on the snail).

I mained illaoi for many seasons and even hit "godlike Illaoi" status on Porofessor with about a 65-70% win rate. Eventually grew frustrated with the top meta changing and seeing a lot of ranged champs and new champs like gwen that completely counter me no matter how well I play. I decided to switch roles out of frustration. I think this is an amazing buff paired with the new items so I may have to switch back to top lane and see how it goes.
Illaoi is actually pretty damn good into the current meta of Darius, Aatrox, Jax etc. not a bad time to play her for sure

I have half a million points in illaoi and i didnt know about the level 7 powerspike
hey looking for someone to practice illaoi with. I'm only at about 70k points on her. And i've been playing mid. Just want to see how i compare to other illaoi players top.
With this increased range in the Passive Tentacles, i'm trying Illaoi Jungle. I until now were able to full Clear before scuttle, but the route to grubs is a little impossible, maybe if i can optimize the route, maybe is possible

This might be irrelevant on this guide, but I was thinking about the way you utilize your ult mouse direction. On occasion I will direct my mause so as to spawn tencatles behind the enemy rather than in front, so they have no escape(a lot of instant fights I don't even notice). Would really like to know what you think about that
In addition to that I've also established in my own head that in big team fights, E-flash is better that the standard R-flash, to direct the multiple newly spawned tentacles onto the enemies that now stand on top of the spirit, rather than onto a single lone spirit.
Lastly, this is kinda wild and not really that relevant but a cool gimmic nontheless, the way the E-flash works is crazy, I've done this once only. When you flash efter you E you redirect it, you are actually able to complete wiff it but then flash and turn the trajectory.
Thoughts on that maybe, please, kind sir.
Would be so cool, if you made a SHORT video on that in the end to follow up, from fundamentals to experimental.

so with E-flash you R before, then surprise the enemy with redirected tentacles? Seems situationally very powerful, but R-flash feels much more consistent. Haven't tested it at all so can't say how it is in practice, but I'll probably be too scared to do it in ranked so I don't end up looking like a fool if I whiff the E-flash
Whenever I E-flash is at drake fights where enemy’s are just stacked. My elo was plat 2-1 and they literally don’t care when they are 4 or more. So then I E-flash- means I’m on top of 4 people +a spirit. Then I can R. Means I burn an entire team’s flashes. Cool way to affect the game😂.
Burt I never do it with to enemies, and it is very situational. But that is what makes the game great to me.
R-flash def more consistent, hence why I also use it more than E-flash.
You got me curious about R-E-flash, seems crazy in its own right. Haven’t tried that I need to though.
I sometimes feel inclined to make a funky play, because my soul can’t rest knowing I play a game that has the same progression and play 95% of the time.
So I gotta make the play happen when it’s there, you know

Question: at start of match, set up tentacles in lane or stand in jg entrance to prevent invade?
I'll stand in jg at start, then as the 2nd tentacle CD comes up, move to lane to place, run back to jg. Etc. Most invades top side happen instantly, so if it doesnt happen quick it likely isnt a top side invade

it is of course great that we got buffed but I didn't felt like we were as weak as people claimed we were with the map change. I mean I already never fought in the middle of the lanes. If anything it made my gameplay more decisive since I always were either on my side playing safe or near the enemy tower to pressure.
Great video as always, I don't comment all the time but you definitly are a great source of inspiration for my illaoi games.
Its tough, i think this helps lower ELO players a lot who arent diligent with where and when they fight. But it helps high elo players a ton who can find ways to min max the changes. I wouldnt have done this change, but its an avenue
this guide actually helped me out the most of all guides i've looked at for illaoi, i wanted to start playing illaoi more often, and carry the team better, this guide was perfect, im definetly going to use this guide alot
when you pull a spirit and are fighting someone, are you supposed to w the spirit or the enemy champ?

Be cool if you did an extra short on the exact spot to stand to spawn the tentacles in the right spots. Keep messing up. 😢
15 min of how to positioning yourself well. You dont talk about using your R, on fog, after killing the spirit on someone than run away and get killed on the first tentacles spawn. The R increase the speed and prevent the mark on the floor. Always AA before W to increase damage input. You souldnt target the spirit on 1v1 like you did on the singed but always the champ. Kill the spirit if if runs aways. That mean if the target is 20%hp running aways and the spirit 60% hp you can still burst the spirit and get the kill before he get too far. It's a current illaoi mistake. Max Q most of the time. E is good but not good as maxing Q. Take a lot of tenacity. Have fun with big mama guys :)
Most of these arent related to tentacles, theyre relates to other illaoi abilities and will be covered seperately.

This wa sspecifically for the new tentalce range they just updated. Also on the Singed clip you cant chase the champ away from spirit unless you can run them down with your team. Otherwise you cant hit both spirit and champ and they can turn on you just before they leave E range. Now youre correct if they are standing on top of spirit you should always target the real champ. I like Q max but i also find i do enough dmg without it and my E is what allows me to win the 1v2 and especially 1v3 fights more reliably. Glhf summoner 👍
What do you mean he misplayed in the clip? I rewatched it a couple of times, feels like if he did almost anything different he would've died. He can't target singed cause he ran away at 400 mph after flipping him. If he didn't do the last W on the spirit it would probably expire, singed doesn't get slowed and Illaoi dies due to poison.
Some more nitpicking:
- if people really concentrate they can dodge R tentacles with any champ by standing at max range or doing some other funky stuff so your R may end up wasted
- if you need heal/damage asap don't do AA-W as it makes your slams go a few milliseconds slower which can be the difference between life and death
- Illaoi does not need tenacity as much as other champs since she can "mask" the cc duration with her long animations and also stall with tentacle slams and heals
@@simioncristian7799 How much extra does the AA-W do? How come the extra auto does that much more dmg?
And do you agree with the Q max? Every guide I've read seems to go 50/50 between Q and E. So I've mainly gone the E because the cool down decrease.
@@clintharward9942 depending on the situation, AA-W instead of just W can be the difference between a kill or not. You get a feeling for how much extra dmg it deals by playing Illaoi regularly.
Its power also lies in the fact that W resets your AA animation and also has an uncancelable windup meaning its damage will go through even if the opponent flashes.
About E vs Q max, I really don't know, last patch I went Q max cause I looked on lolalytics and it seemed to have a better winrate (might've been wrong though cause it's easy to misinterpret the data). I don't know what is better in the current patch since tentacle damage nerfs should affect Q max more.
