I’m a lifeguard at a public pool who teaches local swim lessons. I’ve taught levels 1-3 and I have never seen a child younger than five or six who swims as well as this nearly two year old. Personally I am amazed by how well she was swimming. Props to you for teaching her early on!
ISR is absolutely amazing for babies as young as 6 months old. (ISR stands for Infant Swimming Resource Infant Self Rescue.) It’s a 10 minute session daily for 2 weeks that teaches survival skills. Our bodies have muscle memory, so if she was to fall into a pool, she will know exactly what to do in multiple scenarios. The lessons even have the child practice fully clothed, because most accidents happen when an adult is not around. Since this video said “her 10 minute swim lesson,” it’s safe to assume this sweet girl is in ISR lessons. Look it up online or on UA-cam! It’s incredible and has saved so many young lives!

The way people often baby their kids like this throws me. The inability to say NO is not a good thing. I'm black and this just isn't a thing amongst us. Spoiling a child isn't the business. Doesn't want the eggs - be hungry. We don't waste food. Swim water temp not perfect - fine no swim then. Bath not soapy enough - TOUGH!! Bathe anyway. And none of this is up for negotiation.
I parent like you, but the pool thing is actually because little kids aren’t able to regulate their body temperatures as well as adults. The swim class bases the temperature of the pool on the ages of the children.
