I bought 6 in terra cotta pots w the dishes, aquarium siliconed the hole in the bottom, and dug them in. Feeds about a foot or so radius. Been doing this for years. No more cracked tomatoes or racing the desert morning sun for watering, no more soil erosion or splashing on the leaves. And im not tied to my garden all summer. Just fill the pots n everythings good for 3-5+ days depending on the heat here
I still haven’t planted my ginger. Hopefully this weekend. Thanks for sharing about the olla. What a great way to save money. Your garden is beautiful. Have a blessed weekend.
New subbie here!!! Thanks for the inspo. I use ceramic pots with lids for ollas and also to help with fertilizing. I compost in situ as well but I bury the kitchen scraps directly in the ground. Cover with at least 6 inches of soil and plant right on top. Learned this from my mom
Glad you didn’t give up! My Ginger and Turmeric were really slow getting started, I had to remind myself how long they can take! Thanks for watching 🌱💚
Thanks for that compliment!! I was wondering how the worms would handle the temperature fluctuations if I added them. Thanks for letting me know it works for you!🌱💚
Excellent video! I’ve been curious about the olla. I know there are variables; but on average, how often have you filled them, so far? Everything looks so healthy and vibrant😍.
I check them about once a week and they have never been completely empty yet. I just fill them back up when I check them. I’m sure that may change with the Summer heat! Thanks for watching 💚🌱
Can we get an update on how those olla supes worked out for you? Are those wine coolers really unglazed? This seems much easier than making my own out of terracotta pots!
I mentioned my experience in my drip irrigation video, but in short I am still testing them out. I did find roots attached when I removed them from my larger beds, but I now have them in smaller pots to see if they work better than in my larger deep beds. Thanks for watching! 🌱💚
This is genius! I have been looking for an affordable olla for a long time and no one else has anything nearly as useful. Thank you so much for this video. How often do you typically refill the olla?
The wine chillers held up great! We had extreme heat this summer but I can tell that the plants did benefit. When I removed them for the winter there were roots attached. Thanks for watching 🌱💚
I refill the Olla dupes with water about every 2-3 weeks, but I still water with a hose also because they don’t provide enough water in the heat of the summer and I removed them from the garden in the winter. The compost in place bins are refilled about every 8 weeks or whenever the levels start to drop Thanks for watching 🌱💚
I think they worked well, I could see a difference in the plants and when I removed them I could see that there were some plant roots attached. I still had to keep up with regular watering. I am using them in smaller planters this year. Thanks for watching 🌱💚

O and good rule of thumb: 1 pot for every 4 plants, if ur doing sq ft gardening
That’s a great idea as well! Glad to hear it’s been working well for you for years, that is encouraging! Thanks for watching 🌱💚
Good tip, thanks for sharing!
Not sure if you’ve covered this already but can you do a vid on how you set up your shade cloth? 😊
Thank you for sharing!
Great share! Your pepper plants look fantastic! 👏

Welcome to the channel, happy to have you! Burying it right in the ground is always the easiest way! 🌱💚
I didn't realize this and I was about to giv3 up then it started sprouting
Glad you didn’t give up!
My Ginger and Turmeric were really slow getting started, I had to remind myself how long they can take!

They are starting to pull through, I think they were in the cups a little too long!
Thanks for watching 🌱💚

Very nice Stacey. Your pepper plants looks great.💖
Thank you Stacey! 🌱💚
@@VeggiePHARMing you're welcome 💖
Your garden is beautiful. I also put compost worms in my in bed composter. Works great and they add the compost tea and worm castings to the bed
Thanks for that compliment!! I was wondering how the worms would handle the temperature fluctuations if I added them. Thanks for letting me know it works for you!🌱💚
Waaait that olla alternative is so genius! I have some containers/grow bags that I need to keep watered, so I’m gonna try it out!
I hope you like them too! Happy Growing 🌱💚
Looks wonderful 👍🏽
Thank you for watching 🌱💚
Another good idea. I also found the ollas to be pricey. Thanks for sharing.
Yes, too pricey to buy enough to really make a difference! So far these are working exactly as expected!
Thanks for watching!🌱💚
Thank you so much for this video! I just found your channel, and I really appreciate you sharing! Such a great dupe! 🍯😊🌱

Great video and olla alternative..those things are so expensive!!
Yes, the price makes them not practical to use in a full garden! Thanks so much for watching 🌱💚
This is genius! I have been looking for an affordable olla for a long time and no one else has anything nearly as useful. Thank you so much for this video. How often do you typically refill the olla?
Glad it was helpful! I refilled them about every 2 weeks. We had extreme heat this summer and I still watered the soil as well.

Just found this video. I love the idea of using these wine chillers instead of ollas. How did they hold up, and how did your plants do with these?
The wine chillers held up great! We had extreme heat this summer but I can tell that the plants did benefit. When I removed them for the winter there were roots attached.
Thanks for watching 🌱💚
If you pinch out the branches on peppers at 3 or 4 leaves the branch will divide giving more peppers
Thanks for the tip and thanks for watching!🌱💚

How is it going with the Olla’s?
I think they worked well, I could see a difference in the plants and when I removed them I could see that there were some plant roots attached. I still had to keep up with regular watering. I am using them in smaller planters this year.
Thanks for watching 🌱💚
Where did you find that so cheap
