One of the few symphonic metal bands that knows what it's doing and has good orchestrations and is actually heavy.

It's funny because when I listen to them I don't feel like they're that heavy, but then when I try to pick a song to show to someone who doesn't like metal I go through the playlist like "nope, that one's too heavy... nope, too heavy... nope... nope..." lol.

@PhialSubstance Depends on your definition of heavy. If you compare them to crap that gets labelled symphonic metal like nightwish, epica, within temptation, evanescence, etc. Then there's no comparison since these bands are barely metal, but SepticFlesh is heavy even for actual metal standards, compared to symphonic bands like Symphony X, Hevein, Aranrut, Dimmu Borgir etc. They are an extreme metal band, and specifically a death metal band, which is arguably the heaviest extreme metal style. If you compare them to more extreme bands like Napalm Death, Dying Fetus, Fleshgod Apocalypse, and even old-school Cannibal Corpse, that's when Septic loses, but only because they are more of an oldschool/traditional death metal sound, whereas death metal has more extreme versions that are way more heavy than the original, such as Grindcore, Pornogrind, Deathgrind, Slam, Brutal Death Metal, etc. Which these bands happen to fall under, so they will be heavier due to having faster speeds, more intense guitars/breakdowns and more shocking imagery and vocals. Personally I find SF heavier than toadburps and jackhammers, which is what most of these bands can pull off, but that said, I am a thrash guy, and I find bands like Slayer on par if not heavier. But even outside symphonic metal, SF is heavier than other rather heavy bands, like Pantera, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motorhead, Black Sabbath, SlipKnot, GWAR, Tankard, Anthrax and hell even some of Megadeth's newer stuff weaker in comparison.
If you want to show some metal to your not metal friends, I suggest starting with something barely metal sounding like Epica, Nightwish, Therion's newer stuff,KISS, Motley Crüe, Twisted Sister, Alice Cooper, Deep Purple, Oldschool Queen, Led Zeppelin, MCR (black parade and onwards), Metallica (black album and onwards) or even the two Blaze Bayley/Iron Maiden Albums.
