  • There are 50+ recumbent trike models on the market... No wonder it can be hard to choose! While it may seem overwhelming, the answer can be quite simple. All you need to do is understand the elements at play, or speak to a professional trike expert (like one at Laid Back Cycles!).

I recommend checking out @TravelsByTrike who just did a 9,000 mile tour across the US on a trike last year!

I need a workstool like the one Mickey is using here. What model is it?

I'm 5'10" and go about 345 lbs. Is the Max my only choice? Thanks!

The Catrike MAX is a great option, but you also have the GreenSpeed Magnum XL and TerraTrike Rambler as options. The ICE Adventure HD has a weight limit of 330lbs, so there's an option of hitting that target too.

I started out with a Catrike Trail as my first trike and moved on to a 559 and a 700 which I ride interchangeably depending on the type of ride and trail I ride on. After many years with the 559 which I live I can tell you-I that folding is a pain in the butt, dirty, and a nuisance. I just added a hitch and use a Hitchrider rack. 30 seconds and it’s on the car and off I go. I fold the 559 once a year when I go to Florida for the winter. I fold the 559 and put it in the rear of my suv and put the 700 on the rack. It’s awkward to fold and maneuver, can make a great mess and lord help you if you turn it inside the car and bend the derailleur.
