Juniors Journal Club "CVID microbiota project" 18/01/2024

The study presented in the session provides key insights into the link between dysimmunity in Common Variable Immunodeficiency (CVID) and altered microbiota in several biological niches which may play a role in its pathophysiology. By highlighting the potential of certain bacterial biomarkers in predicting severe CVID phenotypes, it enhances diagnostic strategies and deepens the understanding of disease pathophysiology. This new knowledge could stimulate further research into diagnostic or therapeutic interventions targeting microbiota, potentially transforming patient outcomes.

Speaker: Marta Dafne Cabañero, an Internal Medicine resident at La Fe University and Polytechnic Hospital in Valencia, focuses on primary immunodeficiencies. She is pursuing a PhD in Clinical Immunology.
