Thanks Tim for starting my Friday evening off on such a positive note. In my youth I probably spent hundreds of hours looking at all my LP covers while listening to the record, then flip it over, repeat.
From this group, I studied Simon & Garfunkels, The Byrds & The Stones/High Tide & Green Grass (I know it was covered on part 1 of this series).
I honestly think you could make a new video with different rock 10 LP covers from around Southern California once a year. Thanks again Tim, now I’ll go watch it again.

Their first album was titled "Spirit" and the cover was a montage of portions of the band members' faces. The song "Fresh garbage" stood out for me. The Motel 6 photo was on the cover of their second album, The Family that Plays Together.
      A weird aside:
A friend and I were hitchhiking down the California Coast while I Got a Line on You was getting frequent airplay and Ed Cassidy and his wife picked us up on their way back from a gig in the Bay Area. Very nice and humble folks. I think it was around Santa Barbara I Got a Line on You came on the radio with its iconic drum part and Ed drumed his part on the steering wheel with his thumbs. Cool memory.

Excellent stuff Tim and thanks for doing what you obviously love to do.....60's, 70's and 80's music nerdery. Being in my early 60's, I grew up, as you did, listening to and loving the music, personalities, bands and general music scene of those special times......and the details really help tell the stories. Living around LA you have obviously had the chance to wonder these parks, neighborhoods, streets, and clubs that were all part of the west coast music scene and have gone through the work of sharing your knowledge.....Thank you! The 60's and 70's were a special time......raw, many new awakenings, experimental and more fun loving than the industry offers today. I also really enjoyed your Laurel Canyon series on the homes, studio's and artists of that era. Many of us older music lovers still enjoy this stuff, and over the past 20 yrs I've also dug back in to explore more of those musical details. I would love to see you or somebody good, do a tribute or series (or even better a movie/doc) on music producer Mike Vernon of "Blue Horizon Records" fame. Known more as a blues guy, he seemed to have had a hand in so many iconic groups and albums of the 60's both in the USA and England, and even played and wrote music a bit himself. Let me know if you ever need any help with a project like that. Thanks again for doing what you do.....which I call musical archeology....great stuff.

Thanks much for the impressive comment. Interesting about Vernon, I looked him up after your comments and had no idea his resume was so vast. I'm in my late 60's so I missed a lot of the Laurel Canyon stuff but I got to be in the thick of the late 70's 80's and 90's scene. Loved it and obviously I love talking about it. Thanks again, Tom.

    Greetings from Saskatchewan, Tim.
So there i was, scrolling through my subscriptions when i noticed you had a new video out. Talk about perfect timing, man, because it was only a couple of minutes before that that i had fired up my herbal pipe and took a few hits. So when i noticed the video, i was in the right frame of mind to watch it.
    Great buzz, great vid.
What a perfect way to start a Saturday.

Well you've done it again. Another fantastic video of classic album cover locations from the youth of our past, but not forgotten. So iconic! I always was curious where The Byrds Mr. Tambourine Man album cover was shot. I think you nailed it.

Thanks. For me, the Byrds portion of the vid was my favorite cuz I really didn't know if i'd be able to find it or not. A big assist to the commenter from my last Album Covers vid, I would have had no idea where to look.

@@RockessentialTim You're welcome 🙂 I brought it up on the first vid. I am a big Byrds geek and I read a blurb about it somewhere online 3-4 years back, I too walked the trail and found it back then, the band shot a few other pics in the park but that one obviously was the biggie that made history via the album cover. Thanks for all your cool videos Tim, keep doing what you do.

I really enjoyed this presentation of album cover locations! I've grown up being a music fan and a photographer, so the locations of where many of my treasured albums was photo'd is amazing to me.

This series has been somewhat of an eye opener for me too. I live here in LA and have passed by most of these locations literally hundreds of times with no inkling. It really sheds the spotlight on how creative and talented these photographers and graphic artists were to see beyond the mundane.

Boz Scaggs, Silk Degrees. Cover photo taken on a bench on Catalina Island by the Casino. Avalon being my home town, needless to say a bunch of us were jazzed when the album came out. The bench is still there but may have been moved just a bit to the west.
