    The Yeti 500x I use has a faulty USB design connection. I have a 1000 and 500. Love the products. However, the second port from the left USB (not the c-port) has a design issue where some USB adapters will have a loose fit causing it to not work. It works but you have to keep pressure on it upwards to make the connection. This issue was found right out of the box. I hope Goal Zero fixed it.

    I feel like the 2000w week not be enough, need more like 3000w living on the road. Have a lot of things that drain battery. Bluetti is great, but only 2000, while the Lion Safari ME is 3000, but in reality, it seems as though you're better off with two Bluetti batteries - 4000w total for the same price as the Lion Safari ME, but only 3000w.
    Now, the problem is your have two units. But the other unit is an expansion pack. So it seems as though they would technically be roughly the same size...?
    Maybe I'll start with the Bluetti 2000w, and if I need a second better, I can somehow add a second one?? Is that possible? Or should I not do that and just get the 3000w version

    Hey guys, love the channel!! I wish you guys would do a little more research on life cycles though, you’re inadvertently spreading one of the most common misconceptions in the industry. A lifecycle is measured with a 1C rate, up and down. The GZ 3000 X cannot even replicate this without taking it apart. The way it is set up, it will likely get thousands of “typical cycles”. Someone using this in a van would never be able to put it through 100 lifecycles in a year and a half, unless they had a baseboard radiator in their van. Same thing with an off grid situation, one lifecycle would be drawing 3000 watt hours of the unit in 1 hour! It’s so common nowadays for people to say “well so-and-so brand uses lifepo4 so it’ll last 5 times as long…”
    The truth is that the BMS and inverter will definitely go bad long before you sag a Lifepo4 power station.
    Lithium NMC is lighter and more energy dense, that’s why it’s a great chemistry in PORTABLE power, Lifepo4 is best for system you don’t have to move and can easily service (home builds).
    Thanks for hearing me out, and thanks for making great content! Just hoping to do my part clearing up the misconception!

      So the Lion Safari ME-XP would be better than the Yeti 3000 in a grid-down situation (weeks-to-a-year no power)?

    • @DIYOutdoorLife
      @DIYOutdoorLife 2 роки тому +3

      @@AndyAdventuring I would say so, depends on how much you have to move it. The Yeti is great, but for a year down situation with a unit being stationary, I think the Lion Enery PPS is better for price.

      @@DIYOutdoorLife In a situation like that, I would relocate to my family's homestead, so it needs to be portable once. Maximum portability comfort isn't necessary, just needs to be possible. Currently looking at Ecoflow Delta Pro and Bluetti.

    • @DIYOutdoorLife

      @@AndyAdventuring I use all of these systems daily. The battery chemistry doesn’t lead to increased unit longevity, people will find this out in years. The BMS and inverter dumps first and is almost impossible to replace.
      The GZ yeti does very very well, and weighs a lot less because of Lith NMC. The units you mentioned are great as well, little heavier, and nowadays can be found a lot cheaper. For what you’re doing, a bluetti with expansion packs would do great. Since it doesn’t need to be hyper portable, you might want to look into building one yourself. Very easy to do and can be serviced.

    Do you recommend a larger capacity if you are draining to zero on a daily basis? I’m thinking I should select a capacity that I only use down to 60-70% or 50% at most then can re-charge faster. Also if I use this strategy it seems batteries would last longer in general and lifecycle won’t be an issue. In grid down situations it should be few enough to not matter to much. If it’s more frequent I’m guessing you need larger capacity anyways. Thanks

    I see a lot of bad reviews on these. For whatever reason. I feel like most of them are just because the expectations people have due to the higher price tag, however, let's say I found a YGZ 3000 for $420 & it's said to work great... Would that be a decent deal?

    Here's the thing you guys don't not talk about replacing the battery in the unit well go zero has some downfall but the winning point for me is you can replace the battery inside of it easy all the all units yeah you spent a lot of money in a little bit Les butt when it comes time to replace the battery you throw the unit away and you have to buy another one they do not replace the battery why am I going to spend two thousand or $1,000 on a unit when you cannot replace the battery go zero you can is it worth the extra expense yes

      Josh, you left the same comment on my channel. Do you work for bluetti? LoL This is a very misunderstood topic and misleading to state this way. GZ is lighter, more durable, and overall lasts just as long or longer than bluetti. It’s not the battery chemistry that roaches these systems. It’s the inverter, BMS and coms… The cells are usually the last thing to go.
