I recently stumbled across sylvan essos music and found myself thinking “man this is the style of production I want in my music!” You really got the sylvan esso sound and style down. I’m working on something now in this style and this really inspired me and gave me some ideas. Thanks for this amazing song it’s just sooo good. I’ve been listening to it all day lol.
Great Song Steve. I really enjoy your songwriting skills. The harmonic changes reminds me of one of my favourite songwriters ALL time. The "one and only" Nik Kershaw. He can also have "strange" harmonic jumps, but then glues them together with the main melody 🎹🖖
That's some pretty slick video editing skills. Seeing your pup walk across the room between a couple of your clones was cool! Song was excellent also, the percussion was very cool! Good stuff l, hats off to you sir!
Your dog reminds me of my lost dog. It always liked to lay next to me when i was watching yt music videos or trying to do music with my daw. Sometimes it just stood staring at me. Took me years to understand he wanted me next to gim in the sofa so he could fall asleep under my hand. Dogs are a mans best friend. Very cool video. I wonder how long it will take before you get the views you deserve
klinkske I’m so sorry you lost your dog!!! Bartok (my dog) is my biggest fan and always sleeeps under the piano when I practice. When I was filming this video he insisted on being in it. He just wanted to be in the room while I was doing my thing.
@@StephenLearson Hey Steve & Klinkske, Oddly enough, we have a parrot named Willy. He has to be with my wife almost 24/7 or he will turn to the wall in back of his cage and just stare at it a and sulk. It is amazing the love and bonding he exibits. Animals are amazing and full of love. They say they have no soul. I wonder.
Wow- cool track and video! U should ping Sylvan Esso on twitter or insta - I bet they would love to see and hear this! Plus Amelia has featured a doggo in at least one Mountain Man video (Rang Tang Ring Toon I think) so y’all have something else in common besides musical style! Cheers.
Hi Steve, I really, really enjoy your videos. I could not get your wedding song out of my head for a long time. I love it when took an obscure Korg and turned it into a diamond! Funny, you said a sound can be a song. First, I can not sing, but memorizing certain songs seemed to have showed me that certain words are songs when put together a certain way! (Hope I didn't lose you yet.) For example, Roger Whittaker's Last Farewell. Since I was a kid, I thought it was a great song but I never memorized the words. When I memorized the entire lyrics and music I found that I could not speak the song as a story, it is such a poetic song it seems to just be more than words, it's music in it's self, becasue of the arrangement of words. (Still hope I did'nt lose you yet.) ua-cam.com/video/sGWs1HK8iDU/v-deo.html Same as The City of New Orleans when done by Arlo Guthrie. Once you memorize it completly, you almost can't speak the lyrics without it overwhelmingly being music and great poetry. ua-cam.com/video/fF1lqEQFVUo/v-deo.html It is hard to explain how music works in the soul. But I just tried. I perfectly understand how a simple industrial sound can be music. It's just hard to explain I guess. I am constantly looking for ambient sounds to sample and use. I don't know how I will do it, but the call of a yellow finch caught my ears years ago. Someday I would like to employ it into some of my music. Probably something ambient. That sound (To Me) is music. Anyway, again, I enjoy how you show the way you put music together. You do it in an great educated way. A tool that I don't own. Keep up the great work. =KL= PS By the way, I own a Prologue 16 too! What a great modern keyboard! :-)

Love this!! Have also been feeling super inspired by Sylvan Esso production and vibe, thanks for the deep dive! Dig the song!
sounds like fleet foxes
Great example of studying a bands production style but still having your own sound. Great video and awesome song!
hahah This is crazy! The song turned out so good!

Marshal Arnold thanks! My dog (Bartok) insisted on being involved in the video
bad ass thanks.
This was pretty cool. I dig tracks with a bit of street ambience even when it has nothing to do with the theme.
