Few months ago I had this same thought and arrived at same answers based on my own research. Areas like Blockchain, Security, IOT should bring huge demand for software testers. For Industry 4.0 products, highly skilled engineers are needed to test products end-end. Lot of the paranoia is created because lot of companies like Microsoft or startups don't have QAs. I have realized that these companies either have far too mature software development process, product , can afford to hire developers who make less mistakes or are simply too early in the game to be needing a thoroughly tested product. I think pretty much every other company will need dedicated QAs
Agree with you. Big companies usually have testers but with a focus on coding. Software Engineer in Test are usually the working titles. Systems are getting more and more complex and connected. Not having people with a quality mindset in such projects is a big mistakes. Unfortunately companies have to fail first before they understand the need for testers.
hello , i am an artist and decided that i want to learn software testing from scratch, any recommendations on how to do it , also any certificats or tests i gotta do and how long will it take, thank you
Hi Med, good idea to start a career in software testing :)! Have you checked my prev. videos? I am talking about certifications. In the next weeks there are some videos coming regarding testing material. What you already can do is to take a look at www.ministryoftesting.com they have a great testing community with lots of content to follow up on :). Have a great day!
Hi @Elmira, glad you like the video. Where do you see the future of testing? Are you concerned about our craft or do you see the future as bright as I do in the video :)?
@@DanielKnott I following you in LinkedIn, love your posts. Soon finishing to read your book, quite helpful in mobile testing which I recently got. I am actually interested the changes are happening globally in engineering, however find out different areas testing that you mentioned in the video, never thought about it. I believe that software testing has bright future, maybe will be expecting more beautiful changes. Thanks for efforts putting in your posts and videos. Frohe Weihnachten!🎄
@Elmira Ashimova, glad you like my book, my posts and the videos 😅. I love to talk about testing and to share my thoughts with the community. It's always great to hear that people like it. I will do my very best to keep up with the videos and articles. Have a great christmas time and a great start into 2023!
Thank you for the information on Testing. I have a question to you if you could answer. I'm having 4+ years of Experience as a Software developer and was exploring software testing field. Would like to explore and switch to Testing and can you share more inputs on where to begin from? And is it possible to completely switch from developer background to Software Testing, will my experience be valued and counted? Thank you
Hi Meraj, sure you can switch into software testing. You have a great foundation and background working as software developer before. In which area you have experience as software developer? Backend, frontend, API or Mobile? Depending on your current field maybe you can try to get a job as software engineer in test. This role focus on engineering task with a strong focus on software testing and quality.
@@DanielKnott thank you for the reply. Initially worked as Backend developer and now working as React developer. Please share your valuable inputs for what concepts to learn and begin from? Should I focus on manual testing first or goto automation testing? As I researched most info was related to work in manual then automation. Your input will ne appreciated. Thank you!
You have perfect foundations to get into a technical software testing role. Sure, you need to know all the "basics" of software testing but your developer background is soooo helpful, since more and more companies only want test automation engineers in their projects. I would recommend to read some books and blogs. Take a look at some of my videos where I was mentioning blogs and books. Then I would also take a look at the automation university provided by applitools. It's free and you can take awesome courses on testing testautomationu.applitools.com/ Last but not least take a look at www.ministryoftesting.com/ there you will find an awesome software testing community which has many great things to offer. Let me know if you need more to know :). Have a great day! Cheers, Daniel
@Software Testing by Daniel Knott thank you so much for the quick response and guidance, will definitely go through your channel videos and other material which you've shared. Keep up the good work!
I finished my Law study, worked one year in bank and now I decided to not go the path as a law worker. Instead I want to get into the IT branche. Therefore I took some Basics of IT courses at the University and I am learning the basics of programming in self study. Maybe I will start a IT related study but I am not sure about that. I think it would make more sense to start learning while working. So now I am learning the basics of software testing (Udemy bootcamp course) and i might do the ISTQB certification in addition and I hope it will get me a job in software testing in the next month. I think it is a very good way to get into IT as a "career changer". So my midterm plan is to focus fully on IT and maybe I can use my law knowledge in the longterm interdisciplinary (if it will make sense) I really like the IT sector (more than law) What do you think of my situation?
Hi MrTexchen, thanks for your comment. I think you will have a great future in IT. Sure, at the moment there are many weird things going on, but overall software testing is a demanding job in the future. Systems are getting more and more complex and companies need people with the right mindset to help them shipping great software. Software testing is a great start into tech. I am working with many people together who have a complete different background. Usually this different background is helpful in the daily work as tester. It adds new perspective to the job and usually people think broader than "just" the work they have to do. Go ahead with your studies. If you want to learn more about automation I can also recommend the test automation university testautomationu.applitools.com/. They have a great set of videos to learn more about technical stuff in testing. Also I recommend you to check out www.ministryoftesting. You will find many like minded people who are really nice and helpful. Have a great day!

@@DanielKnott I finally managed to get a job in Software testing (Manual testing and automation frontend-testing) I am very happy about this! No I am not. For me AI will be a great addition to our work as software testers. And there are industries that will not use any AI to replace people any time soon. Just think about the confidential stuff a company wants to protect. They will not give away this information to any AI system.
@@DanielKnott yeah AI will be great addition for testing but how our job is done may change greatly but i still wonder if that means more job or less for QA. But i guess it's not that type of work where i can just sit and learn nothing.
