    I've watched this lots of times in the last 3 years and you impress me every time, Sifu Solomon. We don't use rattan rings in my lineage of Wing Chun but it looks so effective that I may start trying to teach myself using your excellent videos. Thank you.

    How does having your arms a certain amount out word develop your forward motion? And in what way is this more affective than say shadow boxing or touch boxing with a partner? No disrespect I come from a different approach and genuinely want to know

    I know nothing about any of this im totally clueless I seen this ring on amazon and thought it's unique for some reason so I look it up and was like Oh ok I see I really thought it was something just to strengthen my arm muscles as I'm losing muscles mass but I guess it will too! But I know nothing about these techniques and movements I respect the understanding purpose behind it but it's not my thing😍 but I guess learning the movements can help with strengthen arm muscles as well thanks.

    I know people would say this is not as good as practicing with a partner. However, subjectively would you say this yields most of the benefits of chi sao practice, while you do solo practice? Can you develop feeling to some extent this way?

    • @solomonwheeler9838
      @solomonwheeler9838  4 роки тому +1

      No you yield some of the benefits of chi sao. The ring is like shadow boxing. With a partner it's like sparing where you react to one's movement. Boards don't hit back rings don't react.

    • @huaxzhang
      @huaxzhang 4 роки тому

      @@solomonwheeler9838 Thanks. I heard comments that the ring may encourage development of incorrect outward force direction instead of forward direction. What's your insight?

    • @solomonwheeler9838
      @solomonwheeler9838  4 роки тому

      @@huaxzhang the ring strengthens the muscles for outward direction . I see no inward direction development or strength you need to use the wing chun dummy.

      @Lughnerson 4 роки тому +2

      @@solomonwheeler9838 I use a smaller steel ring, and like this video, which I have watched several times. Another method, for which you could make a video, is to use a playground ball. Similar moves but pushing inward. Using both is like yin/yang.
