    I have a new purpose in life. I am going to watch all of your videos and figure out what your day job is. Great job with the clear and concise videos. My best guess is you teach mechanical engineering at a local college. Keep up the good work.

    I admire a person that actually does what he says he's going to do. Of course I'm referring to when you said you intended to do more reviews on hardware that were more accessible to the sim racing community. I'm looking forward to your review of the Thrustmaster GT Sport wheel and pedals. I personally wouldn't spend $800 on a unit that is mostly plastic, but still I enjoy your smooth voice and excellent articulation. Great video Barry. Thank you.

    Both profiles are standart profiles. The one with the round hole in the middle is called I-type has an 8mm slot.
    The other is called B-type has an 10mm slot.

      And both profiles are available i.e. on motedis.de, so you don't have to buy everything from JCL, wich is WAY to expensive...

    I like how you set the wheel height. More correctly than most tend to do ... 3 thumbs up.

    So enough hardcore and going back to the roots😁 I'm using a similar rig from Monstertech(.de) and there's no flex with my Accuforce, even it's build just with 40x40 mm profiles apart from the wheel-arms. The pedal-construction has some flex and needs more support on the other end like this rig, but so many thick profiles like with the Heusinkveld rig are IMO just unnecessary. Even real race-cars have likely more chassis-flex than a Heusinkveld-rig😊

    Great review Barry! I have the quad monitor mount from JCL and it is decent enough. I hesitated to buy the cockpit because of my MPPC SimPedals. I think I can reconsider it as an option as there should be a way to accommodate my pedals again.

      If you have the floor mount bracket, I don't think you would have any issues mounting it to the pedal tray.

    DES Simulation is doing a demo using this cockpit close to me. I'm gonna go and try it out for myself, but this review along with the test drive will probably solidify my intention of getting a JCL setup to replace my NextLevel GT setup.

    Hello. I’m new to sim racing and found your Channel extremely informative. Excuse the dumb question but what game are you playing while showing us the usefulness and is it a PC or console version? I’m asking cause I’m not sure which direction I’m going yet.

    Awesome review, as usual. Thank you Barry.

  • @AndyGarton
    @AndyGarton 6 років тому +6

    Great review as always. Such a shame about the non-standard sizes - that's an easy dealbreaker for me (as is the wobbly wheel mount).

    • @AndyGarton
      @AndyGarton 6 років тому +2

      By the way, the wheel mount flex isn't in the main uprights or cross bar, but the two smaller pieces which sit on top of the cross bar - far too much of a lever effect there, meaning any up or down motion on the wheel will cause flex (you can see it your video when you do your initial sit down test, at 15.33).

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому +8

      Actually the wheel mount is not wobbly. Once properly set up, it's very solid. If you see any movement while I was driving, it is coming from the T300's weak plastic base. I understand what JCL was trying to do with the non-standard profiles. Produce a very light cockpit, while retaining strength/stiffness at the same time. Even though they did reach this goal, I'm afraid it will cost them some sales. I think the same thing could have been accomplished with the "Ultra-light" 40 series aluminum extrusions. Which is what I buy when I have the need.

    I've had mine for a couple months now and I absolutely LOVE IT! I'm using Fanatec and have the black/red one.

    • @simracinggarage3026

      Yes, the black and red has my favorite contrast of colors. Would go good with my red 6 point harness.

      Sim Racing Garage I had mine shipped from France. It seemed to be a little cheaper that way instead of shipping from Canada.

    I saw the website said it was 40 / 40.
    I’m wondering if it is 45 / 45. I think there is a slight difference from Europe to the US. In this sizing.
    I just remember reading somewhere to make sure you get the right size or it won’t match.
    Seems like a really nice rig though, and a great, thorough review as always Barry.
    I’m curious why you sold the motion rig you had though?

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому

      JCL uses their own custom extrusions and fasteners on all their cockpits. But you are on the right track. JCL's extrusions channels are 9.91mm, 45 profile is 10.13mm. So 45 would be a better match to the JCL custom units than the 40 series I had on hand.

      I think they are using profils from the manufactur SMT which is well priced and good quality and they are using the ITEM grove layout. Oh and it is 40x40mm. You will find some more data on the SMT website.

    Have any good recommendations for a state side sim racing company so I don't get eaten on the shipping? I'm tired of stream on a dinning room table.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому

      You can try 4 Play Racing on Ebay. They have a few different 80/20 profile cockpits for sale. They are based in Texas and have free shipping. If you want to build your own you can look at Open Sim Racing for plans, which also have complete rigs available. Might find some more in the states if you do a good search.

    Hello
    I would like if you could help me with the settings for the iracing especially on the brakes because if I brake hard, always block the wheels, will you please help me? My system is fanatec podium 2 steering wheel F1 ClubSport pedals v3 inverted appreciated

    which cockpit is great for non GT style pedals because i dislike gt style, how often will you ever have pedals like that unless in a race car or something. I'd prefer non because I'm going to use this if i buy a cockpit for simulation driving/racing.

  • @logo8009
    @logo8009 6 років тому

    You say there is no flexing but, in the being when you push on the wheel there is movement? Is it the wheel or the rig frame flexing? I'm caught between this rig and the P1 sim racing cockpit. I'm going to me mounting a Fanatec V2.5 and v3 pedals.

    • @simracinggarage3026
      @simracinggarage3026  6 років тому

      That is the wheelbase flexing. Also, I didn't have all the fasteners on the wheel mount assembly torqued down all the way yet.

    well.. I don't really understand those kit of rig... just go to a local extruded aluminium supplier and build you own! pretty sure it will be cheaper!

      You're not wrong, but some people don't want to do the work to get all the measurements right and they might forget something like a shifter mount or overlook getting the seat mounted the right way

    on 8020 ebay i see 10s and 15s not 40s and 15s looks heavy duty to me. I want to build with black, will the 15s be the correct series to order?

    • @YellowFruit01
      @YellowFruit01 4 роки тому

      15 series = 1.5 inch = 38mm, so basically imperial version of 40mm metric.

    What would it cost for the unit that you’re building everything that I would need shipped to me. Preferably all built and boxed up and shipped please let me know.

    • @jamesh9744
      @jamesh9744 4 роки тому +3

      Come on bro, you gonna do a little bit of the work yourself. Also, how would Barry know where you live? That'll have a huge impact on shipping costs. ALSO, this sort of thing does not come "built". It's packed down as much as possible to be shipped for as little cost available. You build it yourself.

    I apsolutely love your channel Barry, however you have lost me with these two new videos. Are you planning to mount this frame on a new motion rig, otherwise why such a big step backwards? 🤔

      Actually I only did a review on this cockpit. Then I sent it back. Moving to a different motion system now, and will have a review on that soon.
