Thank you! The game is incredibly capable for this type of thing if it is heavily modded and you make use of the extensive asset workshop available on steam.
Grew up in Durban (now in Joburg). Lovely to see the history of my home brought to life like this! I hope one day to see a recreation of Port Louis (Mauritius), Buenos Aires (Argentina), or Stockholm (Sweden) :D
But now it is worse. I was there 2022. Durban is dying bro. I remember seeing ocean water dirty. A week later in October 2022 media was buzzing with sewage flowing in the Ocean
@@TheDruzza its near the ice skating place in town. they sometimes have a circus across the street, and some carnival on the grounds. its now just a massive tar area.
I have a very fond memory of the place. I was underage to see Jurassic Park, and at the time, being a kid in the 90s with a dinosaur fascination, this was THE movie to see! So my Dad made a plan... he would smuggle my little sister and I into the Durban Drive-In😂 We loaded up in his Cressida, and my 2 older brothers draped a blanket over their legs before we drove in. My sister and I hid underneath the blanket, laying flat over their feet in the generously deep footwell of the Cressida. We stayed motionless there as the security guard's flashlight scanned over the blanket, I was not even breathing. Eventually we get in and I couldn't contain myself. Best memory to this day. Me eating KFC, watching Jurassic Park on the roof of my Dad's car😊
4 million plus is correct today....more foreign spoken people walk the streets of Durban today.....Today its difficult to hear the Isizulu or English language on the streets of Durban instead language spoken today was never heard of 20 years ago...even people as far as Pakistan or Bangladesh are full on the streets of Durban... not sure how many South Africans are seen doing streets business in Pakistan or Bangladesh if there is even ONE.
Thank you for showing us a bit of Stamford Hill Aerodrome; most people living in Durban today do not even know that we even had one. Please do a video of Cape Town next - that will be quite a lengthy but magnificent one, I'm sure
You did an amazing work using city skylines!!! The historical detail you went to is beyond impressive! Congrats!!! Long hours on this one. 🤯🇿🇦🏆
Thank you, yeah, definitely a labour of love
Very nostalgic for me since moving from Durbs to Jozi. Fantastic work here mate.
Thank you 😊
This was a great video. Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This is amazing. I never realised it was possible to do something so realistic in City Skylines. I'll have to re-examine that game.

Well done. Just one error, cars were shown driving on the right. In SA, they drive on the left.

Correction: there's close to 4 million people living in the city today
The figure of 200 000 was for the 1940s, when this video was set.
@@jetjunky6760I am pretty sure those numbers are in accurate, many black South Africans weren't counted because of apartheid
