They should keep it as references and never show them on screen, keep it a Superman show. Maybe they can mention Wayne Enterprises as a rival to the new LexCorp. Or mention the STAR Labs locations in Keystone and Central City, which are both referenced to be in Kansas so maybe work that in with some Smallville stuff, like field trips Clark took to there in school or something. Maybe Vicki Vale mentions that Superman is changing things and Gotham now has its own caped weirdo.
This show is so good. I really hope we see some other heroes, maybe not on screen but show that they're out there, like Batman or The Flash
