36:40 is quite amazing word for me. I often struggle with this area. I am reminded of the three men thrown into the furnace. Yes, God saved them. But suddenly i had a light bulb moment. They actually died to themselves. They were willing to die rather than give up their faith. Without death there wouldnt be a resurrection. They died to themselves, they carried their cross (fear of death) and God came through for them. God, help me to die to myself. Amen.

This is refreshing. I'm tired of saccharine sermons that give you hope only to set you up for disappointment. That, or Calvinistic sermons that only succeed in making you feel guilty, accusing you of not doing enough to serve God and deny yourself. This is a good balance and tackles the difficult questions we have, even as Christians. I will admit I often feel depressed these days (I'm part of the essential services workers) and I have wished for death and Heaven more than once lately.
Stay strong in Christ. We live in Christ and also die in Christ
TK once has said if we weren’t so upset bc we r upset, we wouldn’t be as upset. Lol, spiritual depression is real. Pls know, ur not here all alone in this suffering, we r all here together in Christ. And it’s perfectly normal that we are depressed, and weak. Coz we when we r weak, we become strong together in Christ’s love. Don’t forget about HIS promise and life experience. God bless!

Thank you Dr. Keller. I know some of the concepts are not easy to grasp but the purpose is to be truthful other than simple. As C.S Lewis said 'The longest way round, is the shortest way home.'
What is truthful other than Simple in comparing to what. i took the short way one day , and was home be for every one. not all way's sense full in None contradicting or so may be. LAST Not for the one looking.

Bible is not understood by all man. yet they push other books. hhhhmmm
God is love. He doesn’t orchestrate evil - we do by choosing the path we do. This is what Jesus kept telling us. God is just longing for us to turn to him. His ask is simple, love him and work love in the world. Satan dangles bright shiny objects and lures us away.
Love what you said about loneliness. God does indeed fill that gap.
This is by far fundamental and the very best. Even the Q&A session really helped. Although COVID19 is finally almost over, i realise i spend too much time with my phone and not with God. i don’t have time of solitude to speak with Him. i need to make time for Him.
Also I realise again that current sufferings cannot compare to the future glory. Our hope is eternal and certainly very present.

NT.wright believes that we are partners with God in bringing God’s kingdom to earth. Therefore it can be progressive , depending on our willingness to cooperate with God-Jesus-Spirit-Love. I see the progressive revelation of God and our consciousness in scripture and as we know Christ and follow (hear) him increasingly we are going in a direction, torward justice and the ultimate resurrection of our bodies, Gods end game.

Something else important to remember is that when green says it doesn't matter whether you do good or evil he steals from God because he assumes there is such thing as good and evil and that they are different in extreme and very important ways. The problem is that he has no basis to say that because he lacks a moral law maker which means he lacks a moral law which means according to atheist philosophical worldview Hitler did no evil He just did, or as Dawkins says, "He danced to his DNA."

Would you consider in this lock-down time where art has been squashed somewhat, would you consider a discussion about the ‘spirituality of music’. Ie. is music always spiritual? Is pop music dangerous? Is classical music safe? (Given the place of music has been mainly spiritual/cultural up until the last century). Is music more powerful than simple words?

This a simplifaction but my belief, understanding through choices and events in this life that we, me, God has given us a choice to exercise our free will, a moral compass (Romans 7:14-23) to recognize our decrepit state and need for a Savior, or live a worldly life and live in the flesh (Luke 23: 39-43)
Peace be with you 🙏... take a look at Roman's 7:19 again... the good that Paul WILLS TO DO, he does not, and the evil he wishes that HE DIDN'T do, that he does... when I applied this to my life, I realized I really had no free will at all.. but I had the ability to choose right over wrong in certain areas, but overall I was utterly defeated 😕... this is what the entire message of the gospel is... total surrender 🙏 🙌

I would recommend reading Kellers's Walking with God through Pain and Suffering. I found I powerful and redeeming as I grapple with my bipolar disorder and insomnia

Tim Keller completely misinterprets every other religion and philosophy except Christianity to make them look unrealistic. Yes, Chistianity makes sense, but so many other religions. This is a common deceit by Christian pastors - misrepresenting what other faiths teach to make Christianity look superior.
No, he was right about Buddhism and Confucius. I know it bc I’m Chinese been learning about 论语 almost all my life in school n my half of my family considered themselves to be Buddhists.

CS Lewis understood Christianity and was more able to convey its truths than any non biblical author I know. Does this quote sound like it comes from a non-Christian? The Christian is in a different position from other people who are trying to be good. They hope, by being good, to please God if there is one; or - if they think there is not - at least they hope to deserve approval from good men. But the Christian thinks any good he does comes from the Christ-life inside him. He does not think God will love us because we are good, but that God will make us good because He loves us; just as the roof of a greenhouse does not attract the sun because it is bright, but becomes bright because the sun shines on it.
