TO ADRESS THE DIFFERENCE IN PAINT. The purple burst is how the guitar originally looked out of the factory. It was a darker, less green-ish blue, same with the stripe. Over time, it blended together. The color purple is very similar to dark blue, so the colors end up fading together due to multiple factors: Nitrocellulose degredation, exposure to light, smoking, etc. There are some 1969 Comp- Stangs that still show their purple color, from being exposed to the elements less.
@@feltyash6484 the new ones are finished in polyester - the ogs are a combination of polyurethane and nitrocellulose, i doubt the paint has any effect, but the type of wood as well as the weight does
@@johnpickk7526 I actually didn't know that i thought it was polyurethane, polyester is even harder than polyurethane so it's even worse. best analogy i could make is like putting a blanket over something to muffle it, that's what thick finish does
pots and wiring could have an effect pickup height definitely they sound very similar anyway, one is just also an investment why the other depreciates in value
I was excited when the Vintera came out, then looking at the promo pictures I realized the comp stripe was off, different angle and width than the original vintage . Not a deal-breaker but bothers me a bit that they didn’t do it the same!!!! Vintera is still very cool, and the price point is obviously more attractive than these current vintage prices… but damn fender, couldn’t they just get that tiny but important details correct????
I agree. I don't care much that it doesn't have a matching headstock, but that would have been really cool. The stripe is definitely the major low point of the vintera. It's a beautiful guitar, but it could have been so much better with the right stripe
Since I've noticed that the part of the pickguard on the bottom spur is more pointy on the new mustangs (and the jagatang) than the old ones I can't unsee it. And now neither can you!
Welcome back, my friend. It's been a long since your last post....definitely I will buy the Vintera because of the similarities and the availibilty compared to the 1969....
Vintera has the clarity which requires thoughtful playing but allows for more expression. the og has a warmth to it that covers up a lot of picking issues. could be the setups on the guitars, it's hard to tell which one I like more but that vintera is tempting (I assume the price has to be less than the og stang). If only mustangs came 25.5 for my bigger hands. I have a KC modded VC Squier mustang that plays great (except my stubby fingers on a shorter neck) and I can't say it sounds any better or worse than these two. just varying degrees of separation. edit: WISH THE VINTERA HAD MATCHING HEADCAP... COMEON!
damn. vintera totally sounds more nasal than the 69 (if that makes sense?) both sound great through your rig but it’s amazing how much better the 69 sounds. to another commenter’s point tho, they sound about the same distorted
@@jq.guitars also during the songs that has the bridge pickup, the vintera sounded weaker and less full than the 1969. Almost like it sounded like a neck pickup to me.
Hey man, every time I watch your videos I wonder how you change tuning so quickly on your guitars? Do you use any pedals, like the Digitech ones? Good video, keep it up, greetings!!
Jq, Do you have any recommendations to start playing? I've been practicing for a few months(1 Year playing R-handed, 4 months playing L-handed) now but I feel like I'm missing something. I love your videos man
To my ear the 1969 sounds better, but the vintera is close. The biggest difference is in the neck pickup. One question: does your sansamp sound so good with other amps too?
Very big difference in outputs of pickups, i think something is wrong, may be you recorded them in different days, tube amp will sound different every day, your vintera tracks quieter even on distortion, that means amp settings is different at least.
Clearly the original Mustang is the holy grail because it looks great and because Mr. Cobain made it legendary. Mind you, the Mustang is meant for beginners and is now being sold for a fortune outrageously. The new Vintera II has unfortunately not so much to do with the original, is more of a buying incentive for fans who can not afford an original.
The 1969 has the matching headstock and Vintera has the bigger stripe. They are labeled in the timestamps, I just didn't think to label them in the video because I thought it would be obvious which is which.

Wasn't it also that they put the burst on some and not others?
I think so, yeah, not quite sure as I don't delve into fender. I generally research all guitars. (left handed guitarist.)
leave it under direct sunlught for 2 days & it will match
Your guitar tone sounds much clearer in this video than others. Sounds great.
I believe that's thanks to the Quad Reverb, I finally got it fixed.
@@jq.guitarsCan’t wait to hear it in some future videos.
both sound great, but the og just has that warmth to it that nothing else can seem to match
Probably cause of the nitrocellulose finish, the thick polyurethane on the new vinteras allow less resonance

Roll down your tone. Not hard
Great video! Vintera II is a fantastic alternative if a vintage is out of reach.
Amazing sound gotta love a quad reverb!
Nice upload! Too bad they didn’t do the matching headstock.
It's so cool that you have a '69, I'd say that's a keeper

Thanks for your reply JQ.
Glad to know I’m not the only one who noticed!
Man this sold me on the vintera II! Cant wait to see what youve got cooking up next, amazing content as always

That Quad Reverb sounds really nice! perfect selection of songs to compare with. The Vintera kept up well with original, Great video!
Great playing dude very cool
Beautiful Sound , i love your video , Good Job ! NIRVANA Forever !
Awesome tone
Great video. 69’ definitely sounds a lot darker than the Vintera and is nicer IMO. Distorted they sound pretty much the same.
You uploaded I can finally sleep peacefully now

What a good solo de sappy
Are you Sure? I dont belive it...
god i need a mustang
The vintage one nailed heart shaped box
I’m saving up for a poly chorus and after I might get a competition mustang
vintage - EXACTLY THE SOUND, vintera - ALMOST THERE 🙂
I'm in love with my vintera 2... the bridge vintners 2 is hotter than bridge pickup in originals... love the.origiginal 70s pickups... dark and syrupy
it's a vintage hot rail or modern ?
both have vintage ones
that tone🤤

dude what happened to the Vintera in Smells Like Teen Spirit?
?
is something wrong with the tuning of the vintera?
@user-ge8xk6eq7c it might have gone out of tune a little bit. i noticed it doesnt hold tune as well as the 1969

Editing magic. I just tune the guitars and then cut out the part of the video of me tuning

Whats that weird purple burst thingy they did to the new comp stangs come from it looks rlly off
The purple burst is how the guitar originally looked out of the factory. Over time, the paint color shifted from age so much, it blended together.

recorded same day, same time, same settings. i do think possibly the strings on the vintera haven't fully broken in compared to the 1969
What’s the theme intro music
just something i came up with
Does the ventera ii sound really trebly because of new strings or no?
I do believe so.
Very nice video!,The 1969 has a nice color and tone!,so does the vintera II (Also for some reason the Vintera II Is kinda purple),I prefer the 1969

dang the vintera sounds the closest to the vintage ive ever heard
I agree

Definitely 69 vintage I also have one sounds better ventura very thin sounding

50+ years and still milking the same design. How uninspired can a brand be? Pathetic
Might be good to label them. I wasn't sure which guitar was which during the comparisons.
The vintage has the matching headstock……the Vintera doesn’t.
