I think it's a good idea to have a small greenhouse to protect your cacti from the cold in areas that get too cold for them, I keep mine in the screen porch since I live in Florida, and it's been raining all these past weeks, great video
Great job! I appreciate the time that you take to explain the reasons for the decisions that you are making. For new people like me, it is helpful to have that knowledge base to deal with questions .
Thank you so much. I’m happy to help when I can. I try to share my experiences but in the process I also learn from other people through our interaction here in UA-cam. 🙂 I wish you the best this winter!
FANTASTIC Vlog Ana :-D I LOVED watching this, your greenhouse looks so wonderful, and brilliant idea with the floor insulation, all your plants all look so amazing and cosy for their Winter rest, the Summer has flown at Concorde speed :-D thanks so much for sharing Ana, and Hans and I are sending you lots of love and happiness and CAFFEINE and PLANT POWER from Ireland to Las Vegas for a fantastic Sunday today XXXX
What a perfect arrangement for wintering! I love your collection, thanks for this video 😍. I don't have a greenhouse, but perhaps is the moment to buy one, considering that I keep on buying more cacti😅 💕.
I dread moving plants too.😊 You did great job doing it and they look cozy for winter. So nice to see how beautiful they are and the different species you accumulated. I always love their blooms too. Thanks for sharing, this helps me motivate to move my plants for winter as well.❄️🌵💐💞😘
You know for the bottom section maybe gymnos? I hear they need less light than other cacti? Maybe some aloe as I find they are quite vulnerable to burning too?
I have the same hot house as you do I got 6x6 and have it full all ready plus a lot of baby cactus as well I had to get cover it with lots of shade cloth to keep the temperature around 25.28deg so the sun doesn't do much damage to them
Great vlog Ana, can’t believe it’s that time of year again. Temperatures are dropping here again now, meant to get pretty cold next week with nighttime frosts 🥶 Hopefully it doesn’t get too cold for you or your plants this winter, Ana. Thank you for sharing with us, from Edith & myself, have a wonderful day and upcoming new week 😊🌵☀️🌸🌼🏜☕️
That was hard work! 💪 All for the love of cacti and succulents. 🥰 i love your compact heater. Daz and i should get those next year. Love your mugs! ❤️ here in SG, i only need to prep for a grow light really so that when December comes (rainiest month of the year) the plants get ample sun as my plants are mostly indoors.
That’s quite a job. This is a challenging season, especially regarding light intensity. The changing angle of direct sunlight exposes previously semi-shaded areas of some plants to more light and the potential for sun scalding. The cooler weather can cause us to not be as watchful of sunburn issues.
That’s true. Since it is cold, I sometimes think the sunlight is not going to hurt them. But the sun light can be intense despite the cold temperatures.
I've been hunting online for a very small greenhouse. Only problem is the only place I have to put one is underneath the patio cover which even without the cover it is on the shade side of the house. So I've just moved them into the dining room (the sun side of the house), shut the heater vent, and hope for the best.
I used to have a small greenhouse for tropical succulents but, I sold all of them and do not use a greenhouse. I have a small succulent collection and grow everything outside. I had some frost in early 1990's which killed tropical plants and decided to not grow any more tropical plants.
Hello Anna I love your videos!!😍🌵 I want to know how you make sure that the kids the animals or the visitors don't get hooked by the spines of your cacti. I love desert cacti but for some reason the spined stress me out🤣 I would also love to see what types of plants you keep on the inside of your house!!
Hahaha. My dog is smart so he knows how to maneuver his way around cactus. 😉 But I have a fence also around my backyard cactus garden. My son is very familiar with cactus so I have no problem with him except for occasional popped balls or balloons from the spines. 😄 But him and his friends usually plays infront of our house because they know my backyard has lots of cacti.
Wow....that’s a lot of work moving plants around according to the weather. You have to be very vigilant on where your plants are at. When I think how you all have to adapt plants with Grow Lights/heater I count myself lucky as mine are mostly at the same spot but I do place my plants with consideration to where there’s sun exposure/rain/partial shade.
You are very lucky, Molly. I am used to tropical gardening for so many years while living in the Philippines. Back there it was only 2 seasons, wet and dry. When I got here, there are so many weather considerations due to having 4 seasons. But all is well, I am learning in the process. 😉 Plus getting a lot of gardening excercise. 😆
Ana, you do such a great job getting your cactus babies organized in the greenhouse. After record breaking heat and drought this summer, I’m curious what this winter will bring. It’s amazing how fast the temperature changes in the desert. We dropped to 36 F degrees now back up to 90 this week. 😂
Hi Christine! I heard about that week when you almost reached freezing temperature. What a swing in your temperature. This week has been warmer than usual too for us. I wish you a good winter. I hope yours will be mild and steady. 🙂
Hello Ana congratulations on your great job of moving all those plants after cleanning so well your greenhouse! Did you buy it or you build it! Remember I’m in Miami with 80s during the day still and maybe 70s at night! Shorter days yes and lots of rain! We had a storm and I put them all I side my house! I was wondering should I watered them less??? Tks for all the info you always share I’m learning a lot from you!
You are in Vegas... when you say cold November to February. What kind of temperature are you talking about . I thought you could sun bathe all year round there. Lol.
Lol! That’s what I thought desert was like until I moved here. We get extreme weather conditions. Our winter is normally between 35F-50F. Some days night temperatures drops below freezing to about high 20s F. We get snow occasionally but they usually do not last long. But it gets very windy and that makes it feel colder.
Hey Ana! Been looking forward to another video. I have a huge suggestion for another video! Could you please explain the differences in care for opuntia care. I know they have special adaptations to survive colder temperatures and even frost. Do you treat them any different with watering and other aspects of care? Cheers!
Hi Ana, I also live in Vegas. When do you normally stop watering cacti and succulent during cold season? We actually live in the NW side of Vegas and it's always 5 degrees cooler.
Hi neighbor! 😉 I already stopped watering mine 2 weeks ago. I just give my cacti a sip of water if they are shriveling too much. But I still water my haworthias and aloes, though less frequent, as our cooler months is their growing season.
You do such a great job taking care of your plants! 😊
Ana, thanks for sharing your greenhouse.

Wow so clear the intro. 80s is our winter here in Hawaii. Thats a nice green house. Happy holidays
Great job, more difficult than last year considering you have a lot more plants. Looking forward to next video ❤️😍
Ang cute ng little green house mo.
Beautiful green house indeed...congatulations Ana👍
Nice job mam Ana,well done 😊🌵🌸🙏
I hope you reach millions of followers soon! 🧡
Awww, that’s in my dreams! 😃 Thank you so much.
I have exactly the same size greenhouse. All my collection is there already with a small heater. I insulate with bubble wrap. I’m in the UK.

That’s good. With the cooler temperature, it is so easy to overlook how strong the sun could be on certain days. Good luck this winter!
Wooow

The things we do for our plants! 😉 I wish you the best. Hopefully, they will have a good winter rest.

Where have you seen the heaters made for greenhouses? I have an 8x10 greenhouse and I’m currently heating it with a small space heater as well
If you check in Amazon and just search heater for greenhouses, it will give you a few suggestions. 🙂 Good luck!

I don’t have my greenhouse very well insulated, so on cold nights in the 30’s i cover my plants with a freeze cloth.
That works, too. 😃👍🏼

What is the name of the heater?
The brand is Pelonis. Bought it from Walmart. 🙂
