Not sure if this is a dumb question, but why doesn't the 833 have 32-bit float recording like the new MixPre II series?
word is, its coming in a future update along with the scorpio

Honestly, it's more of a gimmick than anything else as far as a traditional film workflow is concerned. Zoom did it and everyone thought it was the best thing ever. For recording sound effects with huge dynamic range it can be useful but other than that it's a party trick. If someone is clipping dialogue on 24 bit, then they're probably not ready to use something like an 833 anyway. SD will add it to the 833 for marketing purposes but the fact that the mix pre got it first and this didn't just shows the importance of it. Pros don't really care for it all that much.
I was looking for a Zoom H5/H6/H8 to upgarde my sound... after some videos I got a MixPre 3 II, upgraded to the Mixpre 6 II and now watching this... 😂😂😂 WHY?!
As a 633 user, SD have got it spot on with the 833. I have never used the AA batt option ( could have put 3 mic pre's in that space rather :) ) and you can really record forever with a few L batts and a charger. Should there be a full blown EQ section on a recorder ?. Great if you know what you're doing, but some humans will use it to extremes. It would be nice to have one ISO left flat with no option to EQ and a parallel one to do your thing. I really like that TC calibration feature, if it works as mentioned. My 2 gripes are, the select buttons don't look as durable as the older metal ones, and the thing looks like a Christmas tree when powered up !
How do the 633 preamps compare to the 833 preamps?
When you select a Mic input for channel 7/8, do you will have phantom power?
Thinking about filling ch. 1-5 with wireless lav‘s and using ch. 6-7 for double M/S and controlling only the mid-front for the mix with fixed gain on side and mid-back.
Show us the app!
Could that hidden ribbon cable port be for anything else than a "SL4"?? Can't think of what other uses it might have, any theories from anybody?
And if it cable port is for a SL4,
Why don't they announce it now? Nova
@@ceciliosanchezmarquez4196 Sound Devices tends to not announce things which not currently already implemented and ready to ship (unlike say Zaxcom who often takes the opposite approach), it was unusual for Sound Devices to even announces CL12 compatibility and a future AES accessory!
I guess my 633 has just plummeted in resale value.
Head shop around
