I remember back in 2007 (before I had internet at home) I had just started a new job and was lucky enough to have a metal head coworker. I told her Bodom was my favorite band not thinking she even knew who they were lol. She surprised me and started talking about Alexi. Then she said that she had recently watched the bands new live DVD and asked had I seen it. I had no clue that Stockholm knockout even existed. After work I drove straight to the store she said I could find a copy. I had only seen really crappy quality vids online of COB playing live at that point so even though I had all the records and worshipped them I essentially had no clue what they were like live. I had never even heard alexi speak actually. I will never forget the experience of watching Stockholm knockout for the 1st time! I was so hyped I can remember forgetting I was at home and not actually at the show lol I even caught myself going nuts with the crowd a few times. Easily one of the highlights being a massive fan. I watched that DVD so many times its burned into my brain and I wouldn't want it any other way. Alexi still is my favorite guitarist to this day and I'm still not over the shock of his passing. He was definitely one of a kind and is now and will forever be a fucking LEGEND
I remember that was right around the time YT had just come out (2006 I think technically was its first year) and the biggest reason I started watching using the site was in fact because of live band performances. There were only a small handful of live COB videos, like the one in Seoul, and, yeah, if you lived in some podunk area like I did where they weren't going to tour or you didn't have internet (like you), you basically had no way of seeing them live or knowing what they were like live (which is the case for any band really). I don't even think they came out with any VHS before this. This was their first live DVD and before this there was only "Tokyo Warhearts" on CD (which is a very good buy in case you haven't gotten it yet). I remember seeing these videos of "Stockholm" at the time on YT and went out and bought the DVD at Best Buy. I too have watched it repeatedly. That's definitely one of the nicer things about our modern times: the ability to see all these bands live even if you never buy a ticket. What's even nicer is now we have better video and sound systems, so it makes watching such performances even more enjoyable. It's almost hard to remember now what it was like being in the dark with live concert performances with the bands you like. We take it for granted now, but it's really so cool that we have stuff like these streaming videos and these live DVD's.
I listened to Bodom on Windows Media Player lol the only song was Follow the Reaper but it was amazing, I've seen them 2 times and both were absolutely amazing
Alexi's passing is one that is still hard to comprehend. I saw them on tour during the release of " Are You Dead Yet?" , and it blew me away. Alexi and COB were a once in a lifetime act that'll be hard to match again. Thanks for the the best soundtrack to my teenage years!
This is an amazing performance. People say Alexi Laiho doesn't play well anymore, but it appears to be luck of the draw for the audience, the variable being: how is he feeling on the day? Sometimes the riffs are sloppy and sometimes its like this performance. That audience was damn lucky, this is spectacular. I honestly think Alexi is the best.
As far as medley's go, this is top notch. They blended the songs well, even with them pausing after the BBT section. It kept its energy though and the drum count-in helped carry the jam to the conclusion
Born in the wrong place without the possibility to live a moment like this.. being in the front row of that crowd, for wich I would have died for, at 3:33 I would have ripped the soul out of my body and slammed it on the ground
I just came back to this video and learned he died from the comments. looked it up. Drink and drugs. So sad. I got to hang with him and the group after a show once back in the mid 2000s, awesome dude, just talked with you like you were friends. RIP
@Ccauceg Finnish people are fast^^ Janne is the man who inspires me the most. I play keyboards too, but I have so much to learn. Janne himself studied in the Sibelius Academy in Finland. I'm just going to high school called Tikkurilan lukio in Finland, then I have to think about the next step. I'm proud that Finland has Children Of Bodom and btw Ensiferum^^ Think about how good Janne would bee to satisfy a woman with just his fingers :D
wow wat a performance lov cob and wow drum beat really shook me all night long man..i wish i can play double bass really good .....oh my fucking god...metal rocks
The tuning has nothing to do with the playing, the only reason I could think of is because of the strings but nothing else. The techniques they're using is the hard part.
Sith Vader I don't get it neither, considering that he's implying that they use a different tuning here than on the album, which isn't true, imo this is the same tuning as on the album (D standard)
You will be forever remembered legend. RIP Alexi Laiho
Every time I hear a bodom song from now on it will be bitter sweet.
pro trick: watch series on Flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies recently.
@Kane Karter Yea, have been using flixzone} for since november myself :D
@Kane Karter definitely, I've been watching on Flixzone} for since november myself :D
Fuck yes!!!! Alexi is a guitar god
One of greatest guitar solos in recorded history!!
Laiho is the best guitar player a death metal or metal band could have!!!
plus... He sings like a boss!!!
El Combayo one of few who are better live than on cd if you would ask me :) how effortless it looks and fluently 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻

i dont usually like the distorted vocal but man , this riffs are so good
what's a perfect live performance!

I think the the solo at 4:58 is a Randy Rhoads one but don't remeber which song from. Does anybody know it.
Incredible. Alexis is a hero
As of 2019, this is best Bodom
Amazing live!
Awesome guitar playing.Thanks to Alexi!

Nice that they came back to Bodom After Midnight

6:59 - 7:16 - masterpiece!
They change tempo between the verse and bridge, they sped up the verse. It makes the vocals sound more intense... I like.

13th of November PLEASE COME
FUCK!!!! YEAH!!!!!
@Simplyfier indeed
Ahahahahah 🤘🤘
I imagine this song would be really hard to play in the tuning they are using here.
why?
The tuning has nothing to do with the playing, the only reason I could think of is because of the strings but nothing else. The techniques they're using is the hard part.
Andreas Lindén well yeah haha the songs are in the same tuning and they just play them as they allways do, but i dont get this guys comment hahaha
Sith Vader I don't get it neither, considering that he's implying that they use a different tuning here than on the album, which isn't true, imo this is the same tuning as on the album (D standard)
Huqe The song is in C-Tuning, not D Standard :P

the intro sounds soooo sick. youtube chris cole soty 2009
In my judgement as a guitar player there are only two modern metal guitar players which comes in mind if someone asks. Alexi Laiho and Synyster Gates.
