- I took the Network+ (N10-007) exam from home during the Corona virus pandemic and I felt like sharing my experience with others wanting to get certified.
Congrats on passing I take the test in February I will start studying now
This week I’m started an Intro to Networking class at my community college, and I’m following along with the Professor Messer Net+ videos. I’ll probably do a big couple week intensive study when my class ends and take some practice tests before taking the test, and hopefully have my Net+ by the start of the Fall semester.
youll definately need to study a network+ comptia book. classes and videos wont cut it. imo
good stuff bro, thanks for the advice. Hopefully I'll pass my exam tomorrow
Have you pass?
Congrats on passing! Really good tips!
Congratulations! Thanks for the info
Hi, congratulations on passing and thanks for the tips. How difficult did you find the exam?
I passed it on my first try, but make sure to take it seriously, there’s a lot of things to know and it can be very difficult if you don’t know all aspects of networking.
Thanks bro for the huge help God bless you 🍃
Nice job! I passed the Security+ recently without any prior IT experience. Thinking about going back and getting my Network+. How much does the Network+ material overlap with the Security+ material?
I’m studying for the security+ right now and the only overlap I’m seeing is section 2 on security plus (technologies and tools) everything else is new.
Congrats dude, I’m doing a 5 week boot camp online on net + and I have the CompTIA certmaster as well. From your experience you think just having the certmaster as an only source be enough material for the test?
Yeah, it pretty much gives you everything
Thanks for sharing.
You’re welcome
Thanks for the post. Going to take the exam soon, but nervous about subnetting. Were your subnetting questions mainly on class C addresses (/24 an up)? I can deal with class C subnetting ok, but I'm finding the lower classes a bit more challenging to deal with. specially without any notes or charts to defer. was there a whiteboard that they let you use?
Thanks for your time and congratulations again!!
I believe the majority were class C, and i believe there was a notes tab, but not sure.
Hey, were all the questions Lab-based or there were some drag and drop or A - D options? I look forward to your reply. Thank you. Congrats!
Some of the lab based questions had drag and drop aspects to it, and yes the majority of the questions were multiple choice answer.
@@PentestsandTech Okay, thank you for your reply. I think Udemy has some good study materials too. Did you have to cram the acronyms as well?
I knew a lot of the acronyms and lingo just being involved in the tech/networking space prior to taking the exam
@@PentestsandTech Okay, that's awesome

Would you recommend someone take the network+ prior to taking the security+ if that person has no IT experience? Also did you just take the Certmaster Learn, Lab, and Practice, or just one?
I do recommend the net+ first just so you understand networks before you do network security. I was given a free key to Certmaster from my school. I’m not sure which one it was.
How did you study for the Labs on the test what were like ?
The labs used information you should already know, so if you study subnetting or the wire pattern of the Ethernet standards, then you should do well on those two labs. There’s obviously other labs, but i think you get the point.
Can I sit for Network+ exam if I don't have an A+ cert and also if I don't have any IT experience?
Yes, there are no prerequisites you have to do before taking the net+. But i would recommend studying, it’s a pretty expensive test to fail.
@@PentestsandTech My plan is to study just the coursework for A+ via self study (not appearing for the exam). Get what I need and then start preparing for network+ exam.
Sounds good, to be honest i didn’t study any A+ concepts before taking the Net+, if you’re doing it just to learn then go for it, but i don’t think it will help you with the Net+ exam.
Hi, could you please tell me if when taking the test online if you are able to make notes/calculations etc
I believe there was a note pad built into the online test
Do you have any certifications besides N+?
Working on my Sec+
What if you have a separate device connected to the internet?
could you explain a little more?
Sorry man, you got the layer 6 and 7 mixed up. The mnemonic device is All people seem to need data protection. Layer 7 is Application. Layer 6 is presentation. You keep saying People always seem to need data protection. Did you do it that way in the test? You got some questions wrong on it, possibly, if they asked specific questions dealing with the order of 6 and 7 or what thing happens at layer 7 because of that mistake. Sorry.
Hey thanks man, i don’t think the difference messed me up on my exam but i should probably get my pneumonic right lol
@@PentestsandTech No worries as long as you got it right on the test man, it's good. :) I was just doing a double-take once I heard you say it in the video and then I was triple-checking my own knowledge on it.

Thats a great mnemonic to remember the layers!

It’s on compTIA’s website
How much you payed to have the exam at home?
My school paid for my test, but it is the same price as it usually is.
Did you take the Security+ exam?
Not yet
@@PentestsandTech oh ok. I’m studying for the net+ right now, did you use jason dions videos & practice tests? I’ve heard some people saying his tests were very close to the real exam
I was given the comptia training modules by my school, so i used those.
I failed :( 659
sorry to hear that, what topics did your struggle with?
Hi, could you use paper during the exam to slove some questions or prohibited
Prohibited
@@PentestsandTech wtf, i can't do subnetting in my head
