I love Epiphone guitars and actually prefer them to Gibson. A 3/4 size guitar might actual suit me better due to myself not been very tall and having small hands. Might have to invest in one or two of these.
If you haven't bought yet, definitely get one. I got mine in(Les Paul model) and it's a very nice guitar. My only real complaint is that they could have made a better gig bag to include. People have complained about thr price, but the LP Special II is $200-ish and this is really built to the specs of a full featured Les Paul, save coil tapping and a couple minor features. I would imagine the SG is similar. It would be fairly easy to modify it, in my opinion, if you wanted to.
my little brother has a 3/4 scale guitar that i borrow quite often. there’s something about the smaller size that makes it really comfortable and easy to play. and as a les paul girl, i may just have to pick one of these up. plus the binding looks fantastic
Seriously. My favorite color is red and these look fantastic, and I'm just a bedroom player so something like this would be perfect for my first electric
@Jasper Victoria, I have the blue and these are very nice. I also have a Epiphone LP Classic Worn in the Violet Purpleburst. I find the Power Player model compares favorably to a stock Epi LP Classic(mine is now heavily modified). I think they wouldn't have been unreasonable to price at $350. It's a nice light guitar. I do suggest an upgrade to the tuning machines at minimum. Short scales always need locking tuners. There is no coil tapping on the stock pickups. For a small guitar, sustain in insane on it. I have a Squier Mini Strat that just never sounded good to me. Getting ready to sell it, but am putting Grover locking tuners on that one before I do so the new owner doesn't have to deal with the issue. In less than a day of owning the LP, I am already happier.
My 12 yr old is interested in guitar. My Les Paul and Strat are big and heavy for him. The guitar center near me has the power player in stock. I'm gonna take him there after school, let him hold one and see if he likes it. After watching this video, I like it!
Im not sure if ive already commented this, but as a short arsed wheelchair user i have trouble playing full size guitars, my Dad bought me a jumbo acoustic when i was younger, it was bigger than i am!. These and others like them would be great for me, i dont need something to play on stage with the foo fighters cos never gonna happen, just something to sit around at home and play at my leisure. I think i will be spending some money....
Great job. it does get confusing when they call various sizes of short scale guitars 3/4 sized, e.g a typical kids 3/4 guitar is 24" scale which is only a tiny bit smaller than an adult sized guitar (and the same as Brian May's Red Special!) So when buying, 3/4 doesn't tell you anything, need to know the scale length
My son had a Squier mini Strat (currently £129 new), and that was a perfectly good guitar. I expect the Epis will be just as good (or better, since they cost more). I put heavy strings on the Strat to compensate for the short scale length.
Actually replacing my Mini Strat with one of the Les Paul Power Players. Certainly nothing wrong with the Mini Strat, but I just like the sound of a Les Paul better. My main guitar is an Epi Les Paul Classic Worn, modded with a Dimarzio Super Distortion in the bridge and Super 2 in the neck. Plan to set up the Power Player Les Paul the same way to use for an everyday carry songwriting electric guitar.
I guess whenever people think about the 20s, they're gonna think about all these little guitars. Between these and the Ibanez mikros, little guitars might be the new big deal. I think they're so popular because you're getting a full on awesome guitar to have fun with, but not spending a lot of money
Just purchased the LP, cant wait to see how it really plays, Ive been playing since 2006, played a wide variety of guitars, the lps from epiphone are a tough competitor for the market when comparing to expensive models. the cheapers ones are just as amazing as the exp models.
I'm intrigued. John Lennon had a 3/4 Rickenbacker solid body in the early days, good for rhythm chord stretches, I imagine! Saw a re-issue years ago but quite expensive - sort of wish I'd grabbed it. I'm a Les Paul person - will check out the cherry red one! Great review, thanks :)
I see what you did there. Haha.. just bought the red one. Now have 3 short scales , love them. It needs a proper nut and 11s, but other than that it has impressed me.
so you walked from the shop and got on the metro which took you.... back to the car parked outside the shop which you jumped in and drove to .... the shop , yer nee spielberg 🤣🤣🤣
I learn more from your product demos than I do from some of those high falutin' guitar teachers. I think I'm in love with this guitar! Been wanting an SG. Thanks.
I'm strangely very interested in small-scale guitars. The Squier mini P Bass I've got was a good purchase. I choose that bass 80% or more of the time when tracking my awful 1 and 1/2-chord garage/punk rock at home (hobby basis). I know I would like to have one of these Epiphones. I think my attraction to mini axes has more to do with laziness on my part than anything else, hahaha.
I bought a Mitchell 3/4 guitar at guitar center for my grandson about 5yrs ago.. it rocks , I have no clue what humbucker are in it but it a fun little player. The only thing that was off was the frets, every one needed filling. To sharp for a child. But other that that it sounds just like these. And at 75 bucks on sale from 125.
Why is everyone talking about the car instead of how amazing Dagan plays those small guitars. Just a man to love - I wish I could visit that shop an chat whit the lad.
I own a Fender player Stratocaster, amazing guitar!! Great video and review, I absolutely fell in love with these power players!!! Can't wait to order an Epiphone Les Paul power player in the next few days, and to carry it with me everywhere=) I am a thin "petite" girl, greetings from Rome!!
And 22 frets! My other minis have only 20. Nice guitar, just bought the LP in red. All good and ready to upgrade a few things . Only main issue is neck dive but I won’t be playing it standing up anyway so just fyi.
Very Cool Demo/Review. Thankyou. I am in the Market for 3/4 size guitar for Playing at my computer due to limited space. These look and sound Perfect. Loving The Ice Blue. Cheers
For playing at your computer, may I recommend the Jamstik Studio? It’s a 3/4 as well, stays in tune like a dream. It’s an analog + polyphonic midi guitar (that works with mobile as well), so you can play it like a traditional guitar or use any midi controller (it comes with amazing free software). It registers bends, trills, hammer ons and whatever you throw at it, unlike every other midi guitar out there. Amazing pickups and bridge. You can get them on sale on the company’s site or other retailers as well as bstock on the company’s official reverb. Hope this suggestion helps! They are extremely well reviewed, but I speak from personal experience too.
Do you think these would be a good project platform for modifications? I am thinking about the Les Paul for a everyday carry and travel guitar for on the go songwriting, but would want to set it up with the same Dimarzio Super Distortion/Super 2 combo my Epi Les Paul Classic Worn has, for a one to one experience. Update: Got a Power Player LP and definitely could modify if you wanted. Only thing you can't do is add a pickguard(way too small), unless someone makes a custom that fits, but unlikely to happen.
I didn't watch this video...I simply listened, and that's all I did and it sounds like an epi or Gibson from what I can tell,on a phone, over UA-cam...just decently great tone
It has a 22.73” scale length , how this is affecting choice of strings compared to regular Les Paul size. I believe it comes with standard 10-46 but wouldn't 09-42 be better choice ?
It's personal choice what strings you prefer, but the rule of thumb with 3/4 size guitars is to go up one size in thickness from your usual preference to get the same intonation. I prefer 10s on my standard sized, so would do 11 to compensate for a short scale. That said, you can't go extremely thick or you'd run the risk of damaging the neck on a smaller guitar.
I doubt they will do a LP Special in the power players since that is what the Express was, and the LP Power Players is a step up from the Express, being setup closer to a full fledged LP minus the coil tap and a couple small features.
I'm seriously digging the sg, I've always been a strat / tele guy and never owned an sg but always liked the idea. I'm gonna start checking out local stores to see if any are around in my area yet.
I found a Gibson SG at my local guitar center for 700 bucks, and it plays amazing and is definitely one of the best sounding guitars I have. Gonna try to get a real Strat soon, I only have my old Squier which sucks to play on.
@@BrokenRealityYT I've owned many squiers and currently have 4. If you find a good one, with a little attention and a few upgrades they can be damm good guitars...
I bought one of these for my 10 year old but it doesn’t stay in tune. I want to upgrade the tuning machines (preferably locking) but aren’t sure what kind to get that’ll fit this smaller scale. Does anyone have any insight on this?
Does anyone know if the headstock is smaller than normal? If I get one of these with my kids, I'm 100% replacing the tuners, but if the headstock is smaller it might make that more difficult.
Avoid like the plague unless you are under 6 yrs old. You will develop bad habits. Even advanced players should avoid use for extended times. I have a few of these 3/4. 24" is even too small, although acceptable. It's tempting maybe for travel, but there are other good options. Having said that, I want one (or two) LOL . Blackstar has a 20", that's extreme perhaps, but very well made. These may be also. Curious.
Of course he drives Mustang. What else would suit Dagans image?! Not exactly a Reliant Robin kinda guy
Though I kinda imagined him having same year(like 1969), matching color Boss 302 and SG. Take notes Dagan!
Maybe a Reliant Robin with a 5.0L Mustang GT engine?
I love Epiphone guitars and actually prefer them to Gibson. A 3/4 size guitar might actual suit me better due to myself not been very tall and having small hands. Might have to invest in one or two of these.

Great idea as a start for my grandson ...my 28 standard guitars are still too heavy for him. The red LP is appealing already.

I was scrolling for a PMTV review of these and I accidentally clicked on this video. Much love Dagan!!

because bolt on neck, im think about stick a fender strat neck on it.
cool little guitars be cool if they came left handed as well id buy a pair for sure
Doe they need to be strung with 11s or 12s to get stable tension in standard tuning? Or can you use 9s or 10s without knocking them out of tune?

The SG is an angus young sig model 😂😂😂
amazing sound!
Would this be a good guitar for every day use or for pro use
Dagan could sell ice to an Eskimo. I wish we had stuff like this when I started.
I wonder if epiphone will make a Les Paul Junior or special for the power player guitars because that would be kickass

Dagan making a cheap rig sound amazing again.
