IWC Schaffhausen Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” & “Woodland”

In 2019, IWC introduced the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Mojave Desert”, the first TOP GUN model in sand-coloured ceramic. Today, IWC completes the collection with two new chronographs in white and green ceramic.
“These new chronographs not only underscore IWC’s longstanding and extensive experience in the fields of in-house chronographs and advanced materials. The white and green ceramic used for the cases also illustrates the current evolution of TOP GUN from a collection primarily focused on performance to a bold style statement and an expression of a distinct way of life,” highlights Christoph Grainger-Herr, CEO of IWC Schaffhausen.
“The colour codes of US Navy uniforms and the landscapes used as training grounds by naval aviators have inspired our new chronographs. In an unprecedented engineering process, we have developed two completely new ceramic colours - ‘Lake Tahoe White’ and ‘Woodland Green’ - and matched meticulously all other components of the watches to these new shades,” adds Christian Knoop, Creative Director of IWC Schaffhausen.
Lake Tahoe is located not far from Naval Air Station Fallon, home to the US Navy’s legendary TOPGUN school. Straddling the border between California and Nevada, this mountainous area is frequently used as a training ground by the pilots of the Navy Fighter Weapons School. The winter landscape around this freshwater lake as well as white US Navy uniforms have influenced the design of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” (Ref. IW389105). The chronograph features a 44.5-millimetre “Lake Tahoe White” ceramic case, a pitch-black dial, and black hands coated with luminescent material. The pushers and crown are made of stainless steel, the case back of titanium. The matching white rubber strap with a distinctive embossing accentuates the eye-catching design. The use of classic military colours in the TOP GUN line goes back to the Miramar models with anthracite dials and olive green straps. The flight suits of naval aviators have inspired the distinctive shade of the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland” (Ref. IW389106). The newly developed “Woodland Green” is used for the ceramic case and the dial, while the numerals and hour markers are printed in a lighter hue. The pushers and the case back are made of matte black Ceratanium®. Developed by IWC, this material combines the lightness and structural integrity of titanium with a hardness and scratch-resistance similar to ceramic. A matching green rubber strap with textile inlay completes the design.
Both timepieces are powered by the IWC-manufactured 69380 calibre, a robust and reliable chronograph with a column-wheel design. In addition, they feature soft- iron inner cases to protect their movements from the effects of magnetic fields. The front glasses are specially secured to withstand sudden drops in air pressure. Both watches are water-resistant to 6 bar and feature the iconic TOP GUN logo as an engraving on the case back. The Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Lake Tahoe” and the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN Edition “Woodland” are available through IWC boutiques, authorised retail partners or online at IWC.com. They are eligible for registration under the My IWC care program, benefiting from a 6-year extension to the standard 2-year International Limited Warranty.

The white one is the best of IWC!!
A masterpiece of engineering. Well thought out materials and very appropriate for its intended customers. Green colour almost imitates the instruments within the cockpit of a military aircraft.
Beside this I also like the lightness of these chronographs...
The Woodland is amazing

The White appeals to me more.
3:40 look closely on green watch how seconds hand starts to stutter (seems like the frequency dropped) for few seconds. Then it beats normally again.

Alexander-Thank you for the fantastic video. I like them both, but Mr. Green is the aesthetic I prefer. I really like the military green hues. I also am very intrigued by the ceramic titanium alloy and look forward to seeing them in person. I will let you know when I have the chance to try them on. It's funny, my Spitfirre Doppelchronograph was bought new with a fish crown. I was not happy to get it back with a different crown and gone was my fish ! Since geting the watch back, I never wore it again and just stored it.
My understanding with the swap, is that if the crown is "damaged" and impacts the integrity of the water resistance or watch, they will swap it. And of course, since the fish crown isn't made anymore, they swap out for the modern Probus Scafusia crown. FWIW, I had my 2005 IWC Portuguese Perpetual Calendar sent in for a full service and the fish crown was left intact.

And: the steel buttons on the white are a mismatch at all
And at last: 46h power reserve are a bit low for a in house movement according to these days standards

Ceramic doesn't get dirty. It will look the same white throughout the lifetime

Mir gefällt die weisse Lake Tahoe auch wesentlich besser wie die olivgrüne Woodland. Aber die Preise sind auch deutlich über den normalen Keramik-Chronos von IWC.
I went to try the black ceramic version of this. It's surprisingly wearable. However, white ceramic tend to wear a lot larger. Do you think I can pull if off? I have 15.5cm wrists🤣

The problem with the green one is it’s all green, the watch face, band, and case. That only works with black.

Is it possible that the green watch runs irregularly? Around 12:00 the big seconds hand seems to be changing the „fluidity“ with which it moves. Maybe just a camera glitch.

What’s inside the thin layer of ceramic? Oh right... I am a IWC fan but please what are these things?? 44.5mm of ceramic layer covering the metal that otherwise would be a 41mm watch. Oh and the price, 10900 and 9900??? Are they mad? 3000-4000 more than the steel version???

@@WatchAdvisor was jokingly referring to the recent Omega x Swatch colab (which I quite like). These two IWC watches look similarly “plastic” to my eye (which I’m sure is not IWC’s intention). No doubt the case material and strap look/feel more premium when you hold the actual watch. But they don’t appeal to me. And the size would be insane for my 6.75 inch wrist 😁

The green one has a camouflage military vibe. The large white case with black dial and stainless crown and pushers has a toy watch vibe 🤦🏻♂️

i'm not fans of green dial but white is looking better anyway it's looklike a plastic case from cheap watch, why didn't make case like my old spitfire watch series.
and talk about inspire from nature is so weak concept on watch, they didn't made watch look fantastic or elegance like Grand Seiko.

Iwc make the best looking watches imo, you buy a watch to keep not to resell. Watches are not investments.

If resell value is your main concern then you are probably not the market, stick to steel sport Rolex, royal oaks, nautilus and aquanaut.
