C64 Martin Galway's "Times of Lore" Oscilloscope view

- I have changed the synchronization algorithm from a fixed trigger, to look ahead one frame and finding top and bottom peak, and then set trigger level to the middle value. See the three dots in the beginning of the waveforms.
It now handles lower amplitudes and better handling of those nasty PWM wrap-arounds. - Розваги
What amazes me about this one is that it plays a random guitar solo every time you play it. I've heard 4 so far. Thanks RNG!
This is simply a masterpiece. Galway was a really talented chap... and he was in his teens / early 20s when he composed all these classics.
The part at 3:30 looks amazing with the oscilloscope. The triangle wave looks as if it's slowly emerging, just like the song implies that something monstrous is merging. Great song!
Teuthida, this trick is also implemented on the Gofer no Yabou II/Nemesis III Strangers in Time Space (warp zone) soundtrack.
The guitar solo at the end of this song has a random element, it sounds different every time you play the music...
do you mean beginning or am i not hearing the end properly
@@kqzo It's not going to work here on UA-cam since this is a recording from the chip. You'd have to listen to it from the program directly for the random part to be different each time.
@@michaelkossin2765 what i meant in that reply was
"it doesnt sound like a guitar as much as the beginning"
Rolf, I really need to express to you my appreciation for those videos that you're posting. Thank you so much!
I love the expressive guitar bit at the end. It even looks right with the guitar in the middle channel, bordered by chord notes at the top and bottom. These videos are awesome thank you.
You think "uncharacteristically restrained Galway tune with very few flourishes" ....until 2.50 when the filters go crazy! One of his lesser-spotted masterpieces, thanks!
More PWM than filters, but that's my favorite part. I used to listen to the intro music for hours on my C128 back in the day.
2:50
I have an MP3 of this and I'm fascinated that the solo at the end sounds completely different here and is, in fact, randomly generated.
That beginning bit at 2:52 to me sounds like a lawn mower as it slowly gets closer to you
The word for this piece is 'artful'. Very well done.
god this is a fucking brilliant piece
I would like to see the theme to Wizball, if that's not much to ask for.
I haven't played this game since either the late 80's or early 90's. It's an impressive game on the C64. I really should go back and play it. All I remember is finding the giant once and getting my butt kicked, but having allot of fun.
I really love your videos.
Could you please do the theme from Pool of Radiance, apart from the Ghouls and Ghosts intro (which you've already done!!!), it's my favourite piece of music, alongside the Spelunker theme.
This sounds like something that you will listen on a amiga
btw, I'm really enjoying all of them!
This is why "Galway is god" =)
I love these videos.
not sure i understand this song is shit compared to his other ones and you're telling us that its the reason galway is god?
3:15 This part feel good on my ears
Oh man… That waves at start. It sounds like an Ovation!!
Snappy percussive envelopes
Genius
Love some PWM :)
Galway's guitars remind me of Frusciante's Empyrean.
the beginning section reminds me of a theorbo
Sounds to be an NTSC recording, huh?
waifu guitar at the end.....
How were these originally recorded?
Mark Harrison Using Java SIDPlay.
Are there any other SID pieces with a bass liket his 2:50 ?
Last Ninja 2 Central Park theme comes to mind.
Driller, definitely.
