I find it amazing that you can get next to a bee nest and the bees don't bother you at all. Few years ago I sat on chair next to camp site reception and under the chair was a bee nest in building and I sat so close to nest and bees didn't even bother me and I could hear them. Bees don't mind unlike wasps. World needs bees and it's sad they are declining in numbers. We should protect them and stop killing them!
congratulations you've now joined the Tree Bumble bee club . you might notice that they may make the entrance hole smaller if they think its to big . the same thing they did to mine one year and its great fun to watch the coming and goings from the nest .
This is brilliant. Thank you for your videos! I really enjoy watching them, they are so honest and informative. I can't wait to make insect hotels in my garden too!!
Peaceful Buddha ah thank you kindly, how nice of you to say that :) Glad you’re enjoying them and I really hope to hear how your garden comes on in the future ☺️
It is a wonderful experience. As well as Tree bees I’ve had two nest, think Buff Tailed but not sure, in the ground. I’ve got rubbish videos of them. Also captured a video of a Queen digging a winter hibernation hole. Really happy for you. 💚👏🏻👏🏻
We have something similar going on. First I converted a tit nest into a robin nest. Robins moved in ok, but then wrens chased the robins away and started nesting. Now there are regular visits to the nest by what looks like a bumble bee, so maybe there will be further squatters - watch this space!
I have a small issue. I have a compost bin with a huge bumblebee nest in it. I would like my compost bin back for obvious reasons but if like to save the bees and move them elsewhere but don't know how to go about it. Any ideas?
Hi, is it this year’s nest? It seems a bit early-assuming you are in the UK-to have a full blown nest? If it’s last year’s then they shouldn’t be any activity and you can get rid of it before any other queens take up residence and start. if it’s an early nest then personally I would leave it and get an alternative compost bin for the foreseeable future and then at the end of the season or when the bees are gone clear it out. Otherwise there is no simple way to move it without them getting agitated you would have to find the queen and move her and then the rest will follow. not an expert on this but I hope I’ve been of some help?
Amazing and congrats! This is indeed exciting and just like you, i have been trying to get Tree Bumblebees for years and years, but so far no luck. They are such beautiful creatures and so enjoyable to watch. Please make another video when you have the time! I do see the queens every spring in my garden, but they don't seem to like the houses i tried. I do have a lot of bird houses with nesting Tits, could it be that the birds might scare them off? I know that Tits do eat Bumbles on occasions. Lovely shots and i fully understand your excitement!
Grote Griezel Hi mate, I made a quick video yesterday for people just to relax and watch and will drop it this weekend :) Yesterday I had to watch a Robin devouring loads of my solitary bees but that’s wildlife gardening...still hard to watch though :(
Hi, I love your video's and seeing your tree humble bees and it reminded me of a question I've been meaning to ask you, I've an allotment plot and have a big clump of chives, the only bees that use the flowers are ones with reddish bums! They are quite small but lovely, last year they nested in my compost heap.. It was lovely to watch them but they didn't like me digging near the heap! Could you tell me their name please.
If they're black with orange bottoms, they're red tailed. If they have orange bottoms, yellow stripes and black faces, they're early bumblebees. The males of both species have orange bottoms and stripes, but also yellow faces. Male earlies are fat, round and fluffy, entirely yellow at the front end, male red tails are longer and thinner with a yellow face and black forehead.
I cleared an old bumblebee nest out of our loft. I'm going to try setting up some potential nest sites too. It's a shame I didn't know about the mouse nest thing before I threw one out.
@@Calastein It turned out that I hadn't thrown it away after all, it was still in the old drawer unit where the mouse had nested. I've done an upturned flower pot in the ground near the shed and a box on the roof for tree bees. Fingers crossed for next year. (Pretty sure I'm too late for this year).
@@Calastein Thank you so much. Be careful searching for that at work... How long has that Tit Box been out there and is it fully sealed (other than the hole to get in)?
@@SKiLLsSoLoN A few years, the bees will come once the bird’s nest smell exists. It’s deliberately ‘gappy’ so it allows good air flow whilst still being warm. That way the bird’s nest doesn’t get too damp.
.. if you wanna see more thing s with them make new one near and with tabel front hole it s taken time but you will see something funny .. they master s
... i personally thank you your mistake save s Bumbelbee s 42.6% to get less stick s and bumblebee s live is little better YOU ARE HERO . and we will rembeber your Mistake
Sometimes I found bumblebees sleeping on a leave. They are so friendly. I touch the all the time
They're the cutest! I had one fall asleep on a flowering head of leek. It was the cutest thing I'd ever seen!
You shouldn't touch without consent.

World needs wasps too. One paper wasp nest kept my cabbage and kale cabbage worm free until it started getting cold and they slowed down.
My mom had the same thing happen with her bird house. She intended to attract birds and she ended up getting bumblebees instead 💛🐝

Raymond Kilminster Interesting, I’ll keep an eye on that, I think this is a 28mm hole for blue-tits?
Hello to all! Amazing vídeo! Thanks to see my channel with some wildlife! Greeting from Portugal! 👍

That is the loudest intro ever O.o
Finally😃 I had some white tailed bumblebees nest under my compost a couple of years ago.
They are so cute! Little darlings. :D

Spirit Knights Paranormal Investigators Could be tree-bumbles ! None for me this years as the tits have moved back in, lol
I leaft a bad of fine bark mulch and it became the biggest bumble bee nest ive ever encountered .
Thinking about making them a better hive .

Carole Perry Hi, Sounds like worker red-tail bees - Bombus Lapidarius esp. if the body is all black? 🐝🐝🐝
@@Calastein Yes, they are all black, they only go on the chive flowers, I'll try and take a pic for you x

This is a what box? It sounds like `tick box`...
…a ‘Tit’ box, as in Blue, Great, Coal, Marsh etc. :)
