I recently purchased the Tatula 200 and thoroughly enjoy it. Looking for a second reel and was eyeing the CT series and after reviewing your evaluation that's the route I am going. I liked your evaluation, no fluff just straight forward. Thank you. Oh, I thought both of those fish looked pretty darn nice.
Thanks for watching! Glad you found the video and enjoyed the information. The CT is a reel I’m still using and actually have bought a couple more since making this video.
I just bought one of the Tatula CT from a guy and it was brand new for $65 and I’m blown away at how great of a reel this reel is.
I love Daiwa reels just got the pitch and flip i also have the tatula ct really enjoy your channel
Glad you enjoy the channel! Really happy to hear that! I’ve thought about getting that as well. Heard good things about the elites!
I will be running them in the next video. And I got the speed wake on it as well
awesome! let me know how it goes!
I was fishing the other day and my frog was hanging over a small limb and I worked the frog up to the limb then pulled it up to get it over the limb when about a 2 pound bass jumped clear out of the water trying to get the frog however he missed it but that experience was awesome to see!
That is pretty cool!
I’ve got one still in its box 😎
It’s a good reel for sure! Why is it still in a box?
I’ll admit, I listened to way to much chatter about Shimano and bought a Curado and SLX DC and they’re great reels, buuuut last week I got the Daiwa Tatula SV TW and i may just like it more than them. I too paired it with the ESP and it’s an amazing combo. I may have to try the Zillion reel as I’ve heard great things about them, or the Elite.
I love my Tatula Sv reels. I used Shimano for a long time and decided to give the Sv reels a chance and haven’t looked back. Shimano still makes a good reel like you said
Will definitely use your code at Omnia for my next reel!
Awesome! Thanks for the support! Save the code and link! The code is only good once, but if you keep using that listed link it will help me out!
Tks again for helping me out with my start up of my UA-cam channel. All your advice has helped out huge. All my purchases are luna10
Thanks man! Appreciate the support with code! You’re welcome with the help with you channel! Good luck!
Thats not a tension knob...
Any recommendations from the diawa line up for casting as far as possible (heavy lures 1oz. ) under 300
My favorite reels are the Daiwa Tatula SV reels. They are a $200 reel. Hard to beat!
@@MattLunaFishing I agree. Elite sv tw. $200 are great. Diawa Zillion 10.0 topwater/pitching puts in work.
Tightlines.
I bought 2. And I have braid on 1 and 14lb fluorocarbon on the other
Nice! They are solid reels for sure!
Nice reel.
It’s a solid one for sure and a good price as well
How about braid line ? What’s the max lb braided line you can use?
Max braid is whatever you want. Super heavy braid will take up a lot of space so spool size may be an issue. Depends on how far you plan to cast.
10 to 15 foot crank baits. damn son!!!!
Hey Matt! i’ve been debating on getting either the tatula ct or the SLX MGL 70. I hear great things about both but don’t know which one to get. Any idea?
I think The tatula ct will be slightly Larger. I’d look at spool sizes too. I imagine the 70 has a pretty shallow spool which could be problematic if you’re throwing heavy baits with it on long casts. I think either way you go, you’ll be happy with the reel. Look into some of the smaller things like spool size, that may send you one way or another.
@@MattLunaFishing thanks matt, i’ll be looking into some of the smaller details from both reels but i’m leaning towards the Ct. Tight Lines!
@lukebrewer9946 you’re welcome
Hello. What rod do you use in this video?
This is the 6th Sense Fishing ESP in the 7’9” model. Medium. Awesome rod! If you order one use my code Luna10 to get a disckunt
I see you like the daiwas a lot! I am actually highly interested in purchasing my first upgraded Daiwa feel and the CT looks like the ticket! What can you tell me more about this reel I’m between this one and the tatula 150 or 200 I know the sizes are different but they have alot of similarities
I like this one over the tatula 200. I’ve been very happy with this reel especially at this price point.
@@MattLunaFishing yea it seems like you can’t beat it I’ve seen a ton of reviews I’m a big Shimano guy but I also respect Daiwa I just don’t have any reels from them! I wanna take the plunge and have both brands! Is there anything that I should be weary of like dryness or screeching from daiwa
@omalysiragusa9747 occasionally that will happen. A little oil and you’ll be fine. The sound you’re referring to is because Daiwa ships a little more dry than Shimano.
@@MattLunaFishing gotcha well than I think I’ll be going ahead with this one I have felt one at bass pro but obviously that’s different than actual usage. It was also between this and slx XT but this daiwa looks money thanks man! I look forward to more videos like this for sure
@omalysiragusa9747 sounds good! Glad you liked the video! Hope it was helpful!
What would be your choice for shallow cranking? I have the SV 103 8 spd currently for crankbaits, but I'm not sure if I should slow down the IPT and get another SV or a CT? The 8 spd has caught some decent fish for me shallow. I'm a bank angler.
The CT is a great reel for the money. I’d recommend a slower gear ratio for cranking. A lot of time slower is better for cranking. I’d go with the 6.3:1
@@MattLunaFishing slower ipt even for shallow? I'm talking 3-7 feet. Florida ponds aren't very deep.
@@MattLunaFishing I throw squarebills and lipless cranks.
That’s what i would do for a squarebill in most situations. The 8.0 gear ratios are too fast in my opinion. You may be able to use a 7 gear ratio
@@MattLunaFishing the SV 7 spd is 28 ipt. Would that work?
is it a brandnew model for 2021?
I don’t know. This one was bought right before this video.
Hey Matt, is there a major difference between Tatula 100 HS to the a Tatula CT? 🇨🇦
I don’t have the 100, so i can’t say. I have the SV, 200, tw 103, and ct. the tw 103 and sv are more “free” than the ct. I’d you’re on a budget, the ct is a great real! If you get a reel, please go through my affiliate link so the know i sent you!
Also a discount code for the website through my link is: OMLUNA22AUG
Ok,Matt thank you for taking the time to reply!!!🤙
Anytime!
What ESP rod is that by 6th sense?
That’s the 7’9 medium moderate. If you decide to get the rod use discount code Luna10 at 6th Sense to save some money. The rod is on sale right now too. 6thsensefishing.com/products/esp-79-medium-moderate
How do you feel about this reel for flipping and pitching in the 8.1:1 ratio? I’m in the process of building a rod and reel just for that.
Probably you’ll be fine. I don’t remember the amount of drag off the top of my head. I’d check that to see how many lbs of drag it has.
If you decide to buy please use the links in the video, so the website knows i sent you!
@@MattLunaFishing It has 13.2 lbs of drag
Then it’s probably not a bad option
@@MattLunaFishing Would you recommend any of the other Tatula baitcaster models for pitching and flipping?
Can you put 8lbs braided on the reel ?
I wouldn’t recommend that. Gonna be a casting nightmare
heck yea bro
Thanks for watching! You planning to buy it?
@@MattLunaFishing just did off of ebay lol
@@MattLunaFishing i have the other ct with the red knob. i guess the one in the video is the new version
I have the 3rd gen Revo STX. It's a great reel. I've been eyeing the tatula ct. Do you think the tatula is that much better and worth the purchase, or am I going to not see that much of a difference?
Technically the Revo STX should be better than the Daiwa CT. Revo is 200 and the CT is 129. I had the STX a long time ago and didn’t like it much. Still a good reel though. The comparable Daiwa to the STX is the Daiwa Tatula SV. That’s my favorite reel right now.
@@MattLunaFishingThanks for the reply. That's interesting. Would you mind sharing what you didn't like about the STX?
I don’t remember. This was probably 10 years ago at least.
I have lews, abu, shimano, and tatulas. My lews button broke, shimano is good, abu backlashes on anything lighter, I now have 7 tatulas lol I love them and they can cast anything without issues
I’ve fallen in love with my Tatula as well!
Just got mine today. I’m new to baitcasters and when I started spinning the handle it makes a very slight grinding noise. Is that normal?
It can be. It just might be a little dry. Add a little reel oil and it will be smooth. For some reason, Daiwa come a little dry sometimes
@@MattLunaFishing where do you add the oil?
I’d recommend search for some how to videos on oiling reels. Hard to explain over text. Easier if you see it
To bad I can't post a pic of it
Seems like the Daiwas have been shipping dry. I've been adding a drop to the bearings to each new one as they come in. Noticed it first with the Zillion. Nice reels for sure.
A buddy of mine said the same thing. Where are you adding the oil?
aren't the bearing sealed? so adding oil wouldn't make any difference
There’s some areas where you can ad the oul
Shame we can’t get honest reviews anymore without endorsements…
I don’t know what you mean? This is an honest review.
reviewing a reel you havent used so we know if we need it?????
Well, i still have the reel and like it so i guess the video still applies
That's not a combo. The rod is not Daiwa and there are no known combos from Daiwa with the CT.
That's also not a tension knob.
lmao , why do you still have the price tag on your rod?
Didn’t know that it was there. It was brand new when i filmed this video.
