Thanks to all for visiting my channel and watching how I refinished this small console table. Please tell me how you feel about the oil and wax finish I applied in lieu of a poly or shellac. I discovered that this table may have belonged to my great grandparents and was passed on to my parents in 1970 so it is much older than I had originally thought. If you feel like watching another furniture project of mine, here is a video of me repairing and restoring an old rocking chair ua-cam.com/video/tgMWwZiIISM/v-deo.html. See you in the next one!
That's so cool. That table could fit just about anywhere in a home. What a family treasure. I don't know enough to comment about the oil and wax, but I love how it looks and the fact that it's protected.
I have a tale like this and you made the one you found look spectacular. I wondered why you didn't use stripper and rather scraped off the varnish, though, plus, while the fninsh looks fantastic, some people who don't want plants or their guests wrecking their furniture with water stains may prefer a waterproof finish.
@@mizvitko8109 Thanks! I do not like using stripper and the old varnish on this just flaked off with a scraper. Much easier. I used a wax finish because I like the look and feel of it. It is not as sturdy as a urethane or lacquer but there will be no plants on this and no guests will be using it to hold drinks!!
How cool that this has passed down from your great grandparents! I seem to recall seeing a similar table that was called a "pie crust table" due to the fluted edge of the table. Whatever it's called, it's beautiful! ❤
Job well done, my friend. I love your approach. No music, no talking, no written instructions, just a REALLY detailed tutorial on how to restore a small solid wood piece. Love your work. It was a GREAT result. Love it! I've subscribed. Can't wait to see what else you have to show us.
Thank you! Dark stain doesn't do it for me either in most cases. This ended up matching another piece in my house perfectly without me planning that so it worked out well.
Thank you very much! I know you like using darker colors but I've always preferred lighter shades. I think I would keep everything natural wood color if it looked okay in my home. 🤙😀
I just finished watching a restoration video on another channel where every step was explained in detail. I loved it and subscribed. Now I watched this video where not a word was spoken. I loved it equally as much...which is how I ended up subscribed to dozens of channels like this. I just love watching old furniture being honored and treated with love and respect. It's beautiful and seems much happier now. 😉
@Restorology Hey, thanks for the reply! It's called "Restoration Endeavors". My two top favorite channels of all time are "Mid-century Modern" (You'll love Barry!!!) and "Modern Makeovers" (his editing style is crazy good). I also like "Transcend Furniture Gallery". I'd love to hear what you think of them. I also watch a lot of channels where old things are fixed and restored, which is really cool too. I meant to say I subscribed to your channel. 🙂

Thank you so very much!! This actually was an older stain I had laying around so I was a little worried about using it but I like how it turned out too. Thanks for the feedback.
Having the turning device to work on the legs is a game changer. What a lovely outcome. The finding stuff in the junk yard is a great twist on up cycling ---love to see how they transform.
This is a beautiful table you did a really good job on it. I took a little trip down memory lane, I had one just exactly like that years ago. I lost it in a house fire. We all were thankful to escape with our lives and my kids told me it's just stuff.
I cannot imagine what it would be like to lose everything in a house fire. Sorry you had to experience that.
