Love Cold Winter. It stars Colin Salmon who was in a couple of James Bond film but more importantly for here was your handler in the brilliant PSVR exclusive Blood & Truth. The devs of which Sony shut down recently 😞 Only discovered your content recently. Really enjoy it. No hystrionics like a lot of YT'ers just calm discussion. Thankyou
Shadow Hearts was only published in NA by Midway, hence the strange genre choice. Aruze was the actual dev. They would later go all in on the Japanese pachinko market. There are Shadow Hearts pachinko machines in fact lol.
I remember grabbing the third Shadow Heart game when I was in University. I didn't sink too much time into it due to my degree and by the time I was done, I'd lost a lot of interest in JRPGs, but I did enjoy what I had played. My interest in the genre has since returned, and I'd like to see the three Shadow Heart games remastered and ported to modern systems so I can get another chance to play the series.
Fun Fact to Drakengard: The story is linked to Nier storyline. Not going to much into detail, because of spoilers, but for those interested, there are a bunch of websites going deeper to this topic. Another great thing about Drakengard is, that later in the game you unlock other characters and the way you complete mission task the story takes another direction. Definitely a recommended game for Nier and Nier Automata fans. The other 2 Drakengard titles are also great, 3rd one is on PS3
*I LOVE* the 1st 2 Shadow Hearts games (the 3rd one is a spin-off that loses its dark edge & adds too much humor). *"Koudelka",* while a different style RPG, happens before the 1st Shadow Hearts with some of the same characters. Major connections to the 1st & 2nd Shadow Hearts games, including Koudelka herself, with great voice acting for the time. And it's very dark, almost survivor horrorish -- like Resident Evil meets JRPG with a small grid.
I've been seeing more of Koudelka being mentioned lately and really need to play it, thankfully I got it many years ago before it shot up in crazy value.
Cool video! Chaos Legion is one of my favorite PS2 games, when Astral Chain came out for the Switch, I was completely baffled that no one saw the copy it was to Chaos Legion. Maybe they share some of the team behind it, don't know.
@@RetroMediaRoom Yeah I guess so...I just didn't get how nobody in the review scene pointed that similarity, maybe because Chaos Legion got so little press overall.
Ah- never heard of Chaos Legion and I love me an anime protag with red hair and swords. It looks like it was really fun summoning your own troops like that.
Things to know before getting into the sequels to shadow hearts: Shadow hearts covenant: shadow hearts 2, Continues the story of the original game. A new world: Off shoot side game that’s story is great when also under the effects of Painkillers. (I literally beat it while I was recovering from broken fingers since it was a one handed game, I also was under a lot of pain killers) it’s wacky and fun and try not to take it too seriously.
I have shadiw hearts, havent played it tho and i dont really trust the ps2 as it kinda scratched the fuck out of my discs thanks to that tray it has, I would need one if those slims ps2s to be safer
Oh shoot that sucks! Yeah definitely keep and eye out for a slim model, preferably one that's been nicely refurbished because they have a pretty high failure rate due to the laser being kinda poor, but once fixed they're fine.
Fun fact: Koudelka on the ps1 is a direct spinoff of Shadow Hearts, koudelka also appears in the series
Oh that's right! I forgot to mention it, I would have shown it along side because I actually have that game as well 😅
Shadow Hearts takes place after the bad ending of Koudelka.
That's awesome to know, I need to beat Koudelka!
Shadow hearts mentioned, I’m here
Love Shadow Hearts 💕 still got all 3 games

A trilogy HD Remaster would be so cool!

Thanks for the trivia! 😀

Excellent reviews, easy to listen to, you're very articulate 👍
Thank you very much, you're too kind 😊
I love the Time Splitters games so much. I own them all on PS2 (and digital versions of 2&3 on Xbox)
They really are great games 😀
I actually Found Chaos Legion last month at a flea market. I have not played it yet but this is def making me interested.
Sweet! 😁
Really great video, haven’t heard too much about these games. Totally going to check out the Square Enix one, right up my alley.
It's a nice gem of a game 😀
Shadow Tower Abyss, not just PS2 locked but Japanese only, other than fan patches. VERY good Fromsoft game.
Oh wow I'm not familiar, I'll look it up 😀
@@RetroMediaRoom Iron Pineapple has a great video on it, I very nearly beat the game myself.

Thanks! I mean, Platinum Games are former Capcom devs so maybe they did find that inspiration 🤔
@@RetroMediaRoom Yeah I guess so...I just didn't get how nobody in the review scene pointed that similarity, maybe because Chaos Legion got so little press overall.
I think you're correct, NOBODY talks about Chaos Legion.
Hope you reach your goal. Subbed.
Thank you! 😊
Great video! Subbing for more of this for sure 😁
Thank you so much! 😃

It's a good game to just brainlessly level grind while listening to music or podcasts.

Good to know! 😃👍
The silent hill games need a remaster badly
They really do!
Drakengard story and characters are amazing
In Chaos Legion I think you can unlock the option to play through the game as the female character
It's been so long since I beat it I forgot if you could do that, I need to finish it again 😀
TS Trilogy needs a remaster for pc
All of the PS2 Tales of games IMPORTS as well really NEED a PS4 PS5 Switch port.
Some people complain about re-releases and remasters, I'm ALL for them!
chaos legion mention!!!
Yeah dude, it's not mentioned enough 😀
