Once again another fabulous presentation! I was stationed in Erzurum, Turkey, 27th USAFAD, 528TH USAAG for a hardship tour, (circa 1989-1990.) The duty station housed nuclear rounds. As the Supply Sergeant, one of my duties was receiving supplies, via a C-130 plane coming every week from Incirlik Air Base in Adana, Turkey some 900 miles away from Erzurum. During the winter, everyday the Turkish citizens would burn a mixture of hay and sheep dung, made into bricks and burned in their home stoves with chimneys. The smoke from the burning bricks would cast a haze in the clouds and on many occasions I could not receive supplies because the Air Force pilots could not see the airstrip. My question is would this type of duty qualify for the Registry? I have been diagnosed and service connected with chronic bronchitis at 0 percent. I have also been recently diagnosed with prostate cancer after a lifetime of non-smoking and exercise. Thank you.
Had both sinusitus and rhinitis on record throughout active service. Upon exit exam 2005 was not service connected for sinusitus. Because of this I just self medicated. Vfw rep did a supplemental claim. We will see.
Great video. Was there at the oil wells, burn pits, latrines. Our final day in the desert our Engineers dug huge huge holes. We threw everthing in there, i mean everthing. Chairs, desks, camo, probably some hazmat. 1st Infantry Div.
I like to say the team of Chisholm and Chisholm is very knowledgeable in helping me. But I want to say I just did a CT scan and found out I have mild maxillary and ethmoid sinus disease. I didn't served in the gulf War but I believe I was exposed to burn pits in Berlin Germany from 1988- 1990 we train in urban warfare training. so I'm hoping the team can look at this as a secondary condition. any insight feedback you can give is appreciated 👍
What if you were exposed to burn pits in other areas of operations like Panama? I was a medic in Panama and it was common practice to dig and maintain burn pits as a process of preventative medicine. To stop and prevent diseases by the burning of human and medical waste in burn pits.
I would like for you to discuss that presumptive conditions aren’t necessarily compensated. My husband has presumptive respiratory problems and VA has stated that in a letter, however they also stated that it was non compensatory. He now has COPD but did not when he filed this claim. Thank you.
He should resubmit his claim since the VA has now approved claims for respiratory illnesses. He must have served overseas and developed symptoms on record within 10 years of his discharge.
I've been unable to find what % levels are given for these different diagnosis. I did find the "likely" ratings for the pulmonary tests, but no mention of the specifics with regards to these 3 currently presumptive disabilities.
I meet all the criteria except being diagnosed with in 10 years of discharge, I'm at the 15 year mark. I'm 40 years old and was recently diagnosed with Asthma and other respiratory issues like a flattened diaphragm and a few others. I was never a smoker and should not have these issues. I have a c&p for Asthma next week. Any advise ?
My husband is 100% service connected total and permanent. He also has the listed diagnoses and burn pit exposure. Is there any benefit to adding this to his claim?
Only if he has loss of function or needs assistance with daily activities. He may be able to get an additional SMC rating to help with additional financial compensation

One thing I'm not hearing about regarding particulate matter is jet fuel exposure syndrome. I have severe respiratory issues from jet fuel fumes. What insight do you have regarding this.
I served in Iraq in 2005 and ets a year later. In 2006 i was diagnosed with rhinitis and sinusitis and received a service connected disability rating at 0%. I appealed that rating and was never awarded an increase. Does this mean I now have a case to get a higher rating?

Also, this 10 year limit is BS for us Gulf War veterans since multiple studies indicate delayed onset for a huge number of presumptives.

If you have a current diagnosis and served in the qualified area, why is a C&P exam ordered?

I have already taken PFTs and submitted them to the doctor for the c&p. Also does anyone know what mild obstructive ventilatory dysfunction means
