Thank you so much for visiting our city! I work for the city of new haven and im all over the city every day. If you ever come back I would love to show you guys some of the other food spots that are unknown to tourists, because there are A LOT of hidden gems in this city.
1st time viewer. You should have spent more time in Ct. There is Yale in New Haven, the 2 casinos, Mystic area including the village/aquarium/seaport, The Maritime Aquarium at Norwalk, The Coast Guard Museum and The Eagle, The Nautilus, Bradley Air Museum, Steamed cheeseburgers, Trolly Museum, USA's Oldest Amusement Park, UCONN Dairy Bar, Gillette Castle--The best time for the nature trails is in the fall when the leaves are turning.
Long time New Haven family. Surprised Sally's did not offer traditional Foxon Park soda with your abeets. You two are Brits ? My mother was a Connecticut Yankee (Brit). My wife's family came to New Haven in 1639 from Dedham Essex U.K. . My fathers family from Sicily in 1898. My Dad spent time in UK before landing on Utah Beach Normandy June 6th 1944.
I've never seen you guys before, but you popped up in my stuff....lol! I live in CT so thank you for being kind to our tiny congested state!! I hope everyone was kind!!
This video was so fun, love all your road trip videos so far. You are always really happy and down to earth! And not sure about the potato pizza lol but loved the look of the cheese one
Hi Stacey and Kev. When I have tea (normally I just drink coffee) I don't use anything other than some sugar. It's very cool they let you go to the back and see the pizza oven. I absolutely would love that med rare burger. Lol. I've not had a potato pizza but would definitely try it. I'm sure you were thirsty from the pizza. I hope you both enjoyed the milkshakes. As always thank you for taking us on your adventures. ❤❤
Thanks so much for watching MaryAnn as always. We've got the lovely Albany in the next video, which I'm sure you'll recognise the places we visit really well 😁
That Starbucks in Hamden is in a fairly brand new place. A couple of shops up is 'Jersy Mikes' sub shop which was the space for Starbucks previously. The map hadn't updated!!!
Too bad about the Starbucks disappointment. If you come through again, we have tons of wonderful local, independent options downtown and near East Rock Park: Willoughby’s, G Cafe, Poppy’s, Pistachio, East Rock Coffee, Coffee Pedaler, Koffee…
Hi Kevin and STACEY I think I would choose a potato pizza over a margarita because you can get a margarita pizza anywhere. I remember seeing Mark Wayne’s video about Lou’s lunch, so you are in good company because Mark Williams was there too. Why is Kevin so obsessed with getting a Slurpee. Just be like Stevie and enjoy an American Dr Pepper instead. Love your video Line looking forward to Albany. Sorry that should’ve said Mark WEINS, you know the ultimate food travel videographer.
It's not "old school". Apizza is the Italian word for "pie". So when someone says "pizza pie", they're saying "pie pie". But in the dialect, we pronounce it "abeetz". Source: I'm born and raised a stone throw from downtown.
Louis' Lunch claim to the hamburger is BS, "hamburger steak sandwiches" have been advertised in U.S. newspapers from New York to Hawaii since at least the 1890s. White Castle traces the origin of the hamburger to Hamburg, Germany, with its invention by Otto Krause. Some have pointed to a recipe for "Hamburgh sausages" on toasted bread, published in The Art of Cookery Made Plain and Easy by Hannah Glasse in 1758.
I'm sure, like anything that claims to be the "1st" from many years ago, there is always going to be a debate on what is actually the original. We just take it with a pinch of salt. We just enjoyed the burger, and if they claim they are the 1st, then so be it. We certainly won't lose any sleep over it if they aren't. It's all just a bit of fun 😁
Been in Connecticut my whole life and I hate New Haven pizza. But I grew up in the Northwest corner of the state with traditional pizza. Not this paper thin stuff that's cooked until it's black.
New York is a close 2nd to New Haven pizza; a very close 2nd. Frank Pepe's is my favorite New Haven pizza. Deep dish pizza (Chicago) is fine, but I prefer the New Haven or New York pizza.
I'd agree, but then we'd both be wrong. New Haven pizza is consistently rated the best in the country. But Modern (Also in New Haven) is the best pizza in CT.
So what did you guys think of the pizza? Would you choose the margherita or the potato one.
Also has anyone else ever tried the 1st burger sandwich?

Oh snap! You’re in my neck of the woods! I went to New Haven and ate at bar twice in the last week, killer pizza!

Yes, they were! We hope to come back one day 👍
First introduction to your channel, I live in New Haven glad you had a good experience , Come back again sometime.
Just made the same drive from central CT to Albany a few weeks ago. Really is a very nice scenic ride. Happy you enjoyed CT.
You found some gems in New Haven! Just found your channel. Looking forward to watching more of your adventures!

Happy you enjoyed CT and the various, delicious food to be had here!
I've lived in both NYC and New Haven. New Haven has it hands down.

We don't really have the drinks it's just for the mugs lol
Glad you enjoyed New Haven!

How was the driving I always wonder if the transition is easy
Kev doesn't mind it at all. He's found it a nicer drive than back home in the UK. I'm yet to try driving abroad, yet 🤣 i should try it next time
Just so cute….do you use an eSIM or Airalo when you travel? All that Googling takes data, haha. Enjoying your videos tremendously!🇺🇸
Thanks so much, and yes, we use an eSIM
The old school way in CT it's pronounced "Ah-beetz" or "ahh-da-beetz"

Welcome to America. It’s pronounced. Ahh-beets next time try Modern in New Haven that’s my fav and Pepe’s is awesome
Louie’s lunch is terrible but the pizza in NH is awesome
Ooooooo potato pizza looks delicious
Great video that cheese and potato pizza probably tasted like cheese and onion pie
It was really good
Guess it's an apizza arestaurant that serves agood pie!!!
Why, AThank you for watching 😆
Pepe's blows Sally's away (you missed out), but Pepe's in Fairfield, CT, is better than New Haven's.
Sally’s has the best sauce, though!
Without a watching 1 second of this video, to answer, yes New Haven is the best pizza in America. And no, I'm not a local.
ahh yes Sally's apitss
Had to giggle at that. :) As a New Havener, it should be a strong “BEETZ” sound, but we appreciate the effort!
the burgers are really ass, unique though

Sorry, but the best pizza is not New Haven.
NYC yes. Chicago yes. Detroit yes.
Suppose it's all down to personal preference
New York is a close 2nd to New Haven pizza; a very close 2nd. Frank Pepe's is my favorite New Haven pizza.

@@denevaflath1397 😄 Ah yes, the competition between Modern Pizza, Sally's Pizza and Frank Pepe's Pizza! All great New Haven pizza!
