"Martial Law" 1. Plaza Miranda was bombed by Joma Sison to incite the people to rebel against Marcos and depose him. 2. To protect the government he declared martial law. 3. There were rallies and protest and later there was armed rebellion. 4. Most of those whe died in that rebellion were members of the CPP NPA and leftists who joined them. 5. Most of those who were arrested and tortured were likewise members of the CPP NPA and leftist who joined them. 6. If the CPP NPA succeeded in deposing Marcos, Joma Sison would have taken over the government. 7. If so, we would be a communist nation today and our country would be called PEOPLES' REPUBLIC OF THE PHILIPPINES. 8. Those who died and those who were captured during the rebelion are traitors like Joma Sison and should be treated as such instead of enshrining them as if they are heroes.
@Celia Aragon Baka ibig niyang sabihin. Hindi nabuo ang NPA kung maganda ang sestema ng mga panahong yun. Kaya nasabi niyang si Marcos ang nag recruit sa NPA. In other words, there is no NPA if maganda ang pamamahala ng Government.
In addition to that, Joma started the purge of his comrades due to DPA paranoia. A lot of dedicated cadres were killed either by inside political machination or as a result of kangaroo court. One thing I truly regret is the brainwashing of our highly intelligent students to join the movement and they were killed for nothing. The lesson for our history is that there’s no perfect system as long as it is run by men and women. Democratic, autocratic, monarchy and communism- they’re all the same. Following its own agendas, narcissistic purpose and selfish aggrandisement.
Even Hitler , Khadafi, Hussein and other criminals have their soft human side especially to the people they love, they favor , the people they helped ..... but this does not make them any less guilty of all the crimes they have committed. They should always be held accountable for what they did, understanding them for why they did, and what made them do the crimes should not make them be viewed as a victim of their circumstance. Having become intimate with the thoughts of Marcos by reading his diary, Ambeth Ocampo is displaying signs od Stockholm syndrome.... He needs some debriefing session to be able to view Marcos , and be concious of this reality.... that he is dealing with a crook and criminal person. The statement, that society is complicit for making Marcos do the crimes he has committed is sadly misguided... its like accusing rape victims and abused victims as complicit and be responsible for the actions of their abusers by letting them do it to them! As a historian , he should not forget that there are terrible dictators that have been duly elected by the very same people they abused
He is entitled of his own opinion and how he perceived the content of the diary, ang I respect your opinion and perception towards his statements as well. 26:52 Ambeth: AFter reading the diaries, bigla kong naisip dapat siguro palitan natin yung narrative at tanungin natin ang sarili natin -- kesa lagi nating sinisisi ang isang tao or martial law and all its abuses -- maybe we should ask ourselves "What was it that made Marcos possible? What was it that allowed Marcos to do all of these things?" So in this way, dapat din tayo complicit doon sa kwento na yon. Me thinking to myself: Every man has a story, has a beginning. I can also ask the same of Hitler. What made Hitler, Hitler. That's why in many narratives, complicit ang German populace sa atrocities ni Hitler.

Most historians emphasized on the ill-gotten wealth ziphoned by Marcos. For me the worst thing that Marcos did in his life, is the robbery of timeline of Philippines' development. He deprived the brilliant leaders of this country in his time. Example, Ninoy is one, Tañada, Diokno, Saguisag, Angara, Pimentel, Sr.. The LGUs came to alleviate their economic plight only when Pimentel, Sr. passed the Local Government Code of 1991. Before the law, RA 7160, most LGUS are under developed. They can not make some projects, like opening and concreting of roads, they can not provide water supply to their constituents, it was only when LGUS were given IRA now termed NTA, that LGUS improved the conditions of the Probinsyano. This is how cruel Marcos was, he ordered arrest and detention of Pimentel, Diokno, Aquino and Tañada. The Osmeñas of Cebu who were known as good economist in our country fled to the USA, they were frightened that arrest will also come to them. 8 years of rule is so enough if he was a good leader. He extended his.controversial rule up to 21 years. What if there was No People Power, Edsa Revolution. Will he appoint or recommend his Son, to become the Next President? 80% most likely.
I think they were not deprived to be brilliant because during the time of Marcos, it was said that the reason the Philippines progressed by leaps and bounds was because only the best and the brightest were chosen to work for Marcos. Those people you named were on the opposite side. Why? You know.
Based on some readings, given his ill health, Imelda was the one being groomed to replace him. I believe they think they are royalty that the position will be passed within their bloodline.

Mijares thus testified, he was bribed by Marcos agents and dissuaded from spilling the beans, to no avail. He stubbornly held fast and snubbed the bribe. Thereafter, Mijares disappeared without trace of his whereabouts.

I like the way Historian Ambeth Ocampo discuss the methodology he used in writing about the Marcos diaries. Decades ago, it was asked by Randy David (I think) whether it would be Imee Marcos would be the one to be caretaker of that diary. I am surprised to hear it was left in Malacanang Palace.
Maybe the diary was left because they were too busy packing jewels, cash and important documents? Even FEM's own mom was left alone in Phil Heart Center.
@@gandaka2303 the tragedy of the Marcos during 1986 having left Malacanang palace was not planned by the Marcoses because they were kidnapped and exiled in Hawaii.

I'm so happy of the history. We will see the people power this coming election . That's the democracy. If BBM wins, thats the way it is.
No way and will NEVER be!
Diaries becomes now BBM SARAH tandem confirm Phil futures for the pilipinos....
Marcos is the most an no.1 recruiter of NPA!!¡
The no.1 recruiter is the marcoses!!! Of the NPA!!!
Bottomline? it's wise though to see every side of a centavo.
For BBM? I like his platforms among the rest.
Attitude wise, hindi pumapatol sa walang kabulohang pabalikbalik na issues.Move on and see what is best for the future.

@@erlindalao-aten3599 can you tell me the truth about bbm with substantial evidence that doesn't base sa pinag tagpi-tagping kasinungalingan? Yung naipatayo nilang mga infrastructure is way for them to siphon or drain the country's wealth. Why are the oligarchs pro Leni and the majority of the masses are routing for BBM? Perception or fact but it is a question that is deeply rooted.
Excuse me, Marcos was suppose to fly Ilocos to be with his mother. But Cory instructed the Americans to fly him to Guam instead.

In fact, he was in talks with the US at that time. Though we won't know for sure why he left without including his mother in his extensive entourage, but was able to take an astounding pile of valuables.
The Philippine government, eventually, and for humanitarian reasons, under former President Cory Aquino settled the bill amounting to $57,250. The nonpayment by the Marcoses was confirmed by Dr. Esperanza Cabral, who was then the director of the Philippine Heart Centre. The PH peso stood at ₱38/$1 at that time.

What is the connection of the purported diary of marcos unverified copies where u yourself cannot personally attest to the truth and veracity of what is written therein in regards to his sons candidacy. Dont use this as propaganda for or against a certain candidate to advance pol partisanship. Excellent
@@iceblue1457 Try to study also, what was the condition of your city or municipality during the time of Marcos? It was only developed when NENE Pimentel, Sr. Passed the Local Government Code of 1991. I was already 30 yo during that time.
