    My gut feeling is that traditional surfboards will always retain a huge following the same way it's human nature to enjoy a real fire vs a dynamically superior gas fire. It's that analogue vs digital thing. There's just something nice about a floating plank. I think the hydrofoils give you an addictive and unquestionably lovely but very different 'connection'. I bet they're ace, frankly, but I wonder if they feel the same in your surfing soul when you're just waiting for your set, chatting away, you know, chilling out, watching the horizon.

    For those who feel they were either born in the wrong decade ha ha or this would be impossible, I cant stop watching these movies
    and tired of sitting in a crowd, fighting for waves.
    Im 64, love watching these guys rip so...I went to Folsom Lake in CA, took a 2 hour eFoil Lesson and I was up high cutting boat wakes and
    feeling like I was truly flying.
    Granted I have also surfed my entire life in Santa Cruz and moved to Folsom to be near our kids.
    I have trained my entire life so physically in excellent shape.
    Next step surfing on a foil.
    KDA, can I ask what is your setup and Im 210 lbs, 6 ft. , size board, wing, etc
    What do you recommend for me and my size?

    Tow rope at 1:12 brings it back to reality. These are next to impossible to get up and riding on your own.

    • @KeahideAboitiz1
      @KeahideAboitiz1  4 роки тому +4

      They're not impossible at all. As long as the wave is steep enough, you just catch it like you would surfing. It is a little more technical with the balance but completely achievable and something we all do more than towing. Towing is just great as it can get you into an unbroken wave and ride it for much longer 🙌🏼

    • @chrisb9377
      @chrisb9377 4 роки тому +1

      No, you can get on it using a wave like you would on a regular surf board

      The new models from Lift eFoils have a battery powered prop which can retract when you get yourself onto a wave so you can ride just the wave without any assistance. Does away with the need for towing. Want.

    The challenge is finding a place devoid of swimmers, divers, snorkelers, and potentially underwater wildlife and reefs. I can’t imagine getting hit by the hydrofoil at speed results in a good outcome.

    • @KeahideAboitiz1
      @KeahideAboitiz1  2 роки тому

      Definitely worth talking about and I don't agree with people trying to ride these in crowded lineups. The beauty of foiling is you can ride a small mushy waves and wind swell that no one would want to surf anyway

    • @KeahideAboitiz1
      @KeahideAboitiz1  4 роки тому

      😂 Basically it follows the same principles as airplane wings creating lift. Being underwater with more drag, you can get away with a relatively small wing and as long as you have that angled swell keeping you moving forward. You have to balance the foil by shifting your weight over the board but truly is an amazing feeling once you work it out!
