I worked at an Audi dealer as a flat rate tech for 20 years and have rebuilt more engines than i care to remember. All of those rebuilds were done under the pressure of the clock - the job had to be done correctly or you were going to redo it again unpaid, and the warranty book time forced you to move fast. This was so refreshing to see how it could have / should be done, almost like a hobby or a pleasure, taking pride in your work and the quality and precision given.
Great job. Very meticulous. Just side note. Over-oiling head gasket bolts can lead to inaccurate torque readings during the tightening process. Excess oil can create hydraulic pressure, affecting the torque applied and potentially leading to insufficient clamping force. This, in turn, may result in head gasket leaks or other sealing issues. Typically, a dry or lightly lubricated condition is recommended to ensure accurate torque readings and proper clamping force.
Same remarque, also when tightening the connecting rods the guy used 1m extension while he had plenty of room and as far as we all learned as basic rule with torque wrenches is that when you use extension you have wrong torque values and I'm pretty sure here some torquing measures will slip from the correct values
Did I see that correctly, are the old spark plugs being used again? And install them before the timing chains are installed and the timing is correct? An engine overhaul with new bearings, gaskets, screws etc. but continue to use the old spark plugs? What sense does that make? These are "wearing parts".
Nice joob! I’m rebuilding my panamera V8 due to variocam bolts issue.. can you tell me the torque of M12 bolts that connect Variocam with camsahft? Thank you!
I'm not an expert but i think the engine must not make the crying or moaning noise when you turning the crankcase at min 55, is that normal ?? I don't think so, also there is no backlash measurements for oil pump , camshaft clearance also there is non ? You see the engine struggling to turn when you are turning it . I'm well enthusiast to find some answers as it helps me for knowledge purposes
@@aartalsportwagen these engines suffer from a random chance of scoring due to casting defects. Having new sleeves pressed in would be a start, forged rods are cheap and fire rings would be CHEAP to add when in the machine shop. Cera coat on the piston walls of the OE pistons would suffice. This way you can TURN up the boost and the fuel. also having the block painted! i have rebuilt a 955, done a timing chain job as my first Porsche job, i recently rebuilt a 957 turbo with a friend and that's what we did for about $1500 MORE than what you did including machine and parts. Do not get me wrong, you did a nice job but new sleeves are a MUST if you plan on this lasting!

Anybody else see that piece of lint in the cylinder at 31:10? Lol. Not hating . It's a very refreshing video to watch.
Sehr gute Arbeit
Nice job! I would like to do this when I retire but with 911's!

Fuel injector nozzle looks a lot like a piston squiter
Hi, yes it was a mistake from the guy who cut the video😂 he has no idea.
Sorry for my English

Hahahaahaha yeah
That's it!
I see that this engine had cylinder lining.I'm currently doing this procedure on my Porsche, assembling the engine

Love it when UA-cam lets the pros know how to do their job

Gran trabajo, muy profesional 😊👍
How were your camshafts lined up to time before you put your timing locking tools on in this video
Very informative! lot of details . I'm about to do the same thing on my 2009 Cayenne Turbo.

The cayenne came direkt from big Service from Porsche dealer and get new sparks, the question is why they make big service on a broken engine 😂
Seher gut
Amazing video!
I have a 958 Turbo that I am keeping to restore, would love to come visit you when I will start the project.
Keep it up!
You are welcome !

Curious why was the engine in need of being rebuilt? where did you find the specs to put the engine back together?
Are these alusil cylinders, or rebuilt using cast iron liners?
We used Alusil cylinders 🙏🏻
@@aartalsportwagen Looks great! You are great professionals :)
Mi cayenne 957 turbo tiene 167,000km como puedo alargar su vida mas antes de llegar a este punto?
How to set up timing on a camshafts is a TOP secret information???
What does this cost???
should probably have checked the crank and cleaned if not done before?
Is the new timing chain bidirectional / symmetric?

Hi. How much it would cost to repair a V6 3.0 Cayenne? Thank you
What are the symptoms of bore scoring?
I can tell you wheat my 4.8L sounds like--metalic clicking. Mine is Cyl #8. Pull plugs and send a bore scope doen to verify.

Did you reuse the old spark plugs??
The Cayenne have service in a Porsche dealership one week before came to us. They put new sparks in the broken engine 😂
